How can I deep clean my glass oven door?

And none of this bicarb and vinegar nonsense because it doesn't work! It's only been left a few months but is pretty mucky. No self-cleaning function unfortunately. Can I use oven pride on the glass? Is there some other secret method that doesn't involve me paying to get someone out? Thank you!

Take the glass out and soak it overnight, use boiling water and non bio soap powder

PhantomErik · 26/07/2020 18:12

I used cream cleaner & a ball of tin foil & it came up spotless!

Dishwasher tablet tip didn't work for me. I started with deepio (a grease buster spray) and some lidl cream cleaner aka jif and scrubbed with a wire sponge thing on a stick....then Mr muscle oven cleaner spray and scrubbed some more. And more.

I had my oven cleaned 15 months ago and I won't be leaving it this long between cleans again!

Phyllidakettle · 26/07/2020 18:22

Oven mate from Amazon, it’s brilliant. No scrubbing just paint it on the glass, leave it a while and it works like magic.

Anjelika · 26/07/2020 18:27

Dishwasher tablet did absolutely nothing on my oven door. I wonder why it works for some but not others?

ineedcoffeecoffeecoffee · 26/07/2020 18:30

A magic sponge. I take the glass off soak it and then use a magic sponge.

BarbaraofSeville · 26/07/2020 18:33

I put ours in the dishwasher. I don't know how common it is, but our dishwasher can run without the top basket, it came with an extra spray attachment to go at the back, and then you can put all manner of large things in, like the glass out of the oven door.

Doesn't come up perfect, but it's 90% better and no scrubbing required.

Violetroselily · 26/07/2020 18:44

Dishwasher tablet always works for me

Spaghettio · 26/07/2020 19:11

Our oven man used a razor blade. Totally genius!

But I've also used the diamond sponge and Koh (advertised on FB - but not dodgy and works!) and found it v good.

MissFitton · 26/07/2020 19:25

Watching this with interest. Inherited my cooker when I bought the house and the glass door is horrific. Have tried the dishwasher tablet which didn't work. Will try glass scraper.

Tbf the grill and half the hob doesn't work so it's the least of my worries really Grin

Fluffycloudland77 · 26/07/2020 19:28

Cream cleaner with a Brillo pad if it’s bad. Do a patch test.

safariboot · 26/07/2020 19:30

A skip and a trip to Currys Grin

NannyR · 26/07/2020 19:30

Astonish do an oven cleaner, that is an orange paste that comes with a scourer pad - it's brilliant, my oven hadn't been cleaned for two years and this got the door sparkling clean. It doesn't have any fumes and you can use it without wearing gloves.

tara66 · 26/07/2020 20:04

I have Ikea ovens -they have double glass panels on the doors. There are narrow ''gaps'' at the top of the doors but it is impossible to clean down in between the 2 pieces of glass - any ideas?

MiddleClassProblem · 26/07/2020 20:08

Dishwasher tablet is bs. I tried different tablets, with different water ratios from none to loads. It’s bollocks.

daisypond · 26/07/2020 20:15

Lakeland oven cleaner.

goingtotown · 26/07/2020 21:14

NannyR I agree Astonish Oven & Grill cleaner is amazing stuff, the solid block with sponge is safe to use & no fumes.

PatsyDahling · 26/07/2020 21:16

Mr Muscle oven cleaning spray. Leave it on for half an hour then use a Brillo pad to scour off all the muck. It's really easy. My glass doors have annoyingly got some sort of grease or liquid between the panes though so they always look grubby now.

Chuly · 26/07/2020 21:16

Soapy water and a razor blade scraper thing.

Voice0fReason · 26/07/2020 21:47

@Parker231

Koh cleaning product. Saw the reviews and got taken in by them but it does seem really good. One product for cleaning anything.
The cleaner itself is rubbish. It's the diamond sponge that does all of the work. Lots of reviews on Youtube that show that.
Parker231 · 26/07/2020 21:54

I’ve not used the diamond sponge yet but the cleaner has done a great job on the cooker, hob and showers.

goose1964 · 26/07/2020 22:22

I've found that Tesco own brand anti-bac wipes work surprisingly well.

WelshMoth · 27/07/2020 03:18

I suppose its to do with how long the door has been left for - in my case, yearsBlush

EmmaGrundyForPM · 27/07/2020 03:25

I use a dishwasher tablet. Works brilliantly

Diverseopinions · 27/07/2020 03:55

I find unscrewing the glass panes in the door and then soaking and scrubbing - using dishwasher tablets, if very grubby.
Along the top surface of the door are screws, and with a driver, they come out. The glass panes will lift out. A metal bar at It'd he top has been holding them in place. It's worth thinking about where you position the screws on the worktop so that you put them back in the correct matching holes afterwards. I don't know if all oven doors unscrew, but I bet that many do.
