I am so fed up of this shitshow of a half life we are all living and need cheering up.

I have Netflix and Prime but am struggling to find something to make me laugh at the moment.

I agree eastern I still love the repeats of Alan partridge, smack the pony and father Ted but these are quite old now

Motherland
Schitts Creek
Young offenders

The Other One which was BBC 1 on Friday evenings is a comedic drama.

Ghost mentioned above is good.

We’ve just re-watched My Family and forgotten how good it was.

Sorry, all very BBC.

Toast, Derry Girls, or we just hit the Mash boxed set (actual dvds)

Spam88 · 20/07/2020 09:18

We've just started watching Sex Education. Would highly recommend - some proper laugh out loud moments.

What we do in the shadows. Just watched both series. It’s very silly and funny.

Try Lovesick on Netflix, I’ve just finished watching it for the second time and my OH loved it.

Although a slightly bizarre premise - it’s a good old fashioned romcom at heart.

I thought the first series was better than the second. I love Johnny Flynn, he did the theme song for Detectorists.

I agree with a pp, I much prefer British comedy.
Bob Mortimer and Paul Whitehouse fishing show on BBC 2 I think, might be called Just Fishing. Quite gentle comedy.
And also enjoyed Romesh Ranganathan's tours around the world but can't remember the proper name.

For a good bit of laugh out loud British comedy (various types) Netflix is your best bet - Derry Girls, Still Game, Vicar of Dibley, Dinnerladies, Friday Night Dinner, Blackadder, Monty Python, Bottom, Fawlty Towers, Red Dwarf, Only Fools and Horses...and loads more I’ve probably missed.

Loads of stand up comedy, both recorded live shows and streaming specials are on both Netflix and Prime depending on your favourite comedians.

Other stuff I’ve found funny on Netflix - AJ and the Queen, Santa Clarita Diet, Glow, Arrested Development, Sex Education, Community, The Good Place, The Politician, Disenchantment.

Amazon Prime - Modern Family, Community, Parks & Rec, Black Books, Good Omens.

Grace & Frankie

I’ve decided to rewatch Father Ted too.

Ingridla · 20/07/2020 10:22

I'm very hard to please with comedy and don't find any of the US series posted above remotely funny.

Kath & Kim worked for me, also Trailer Park Boys.

hanka · 20/07/2020 10:29

Hopefully Ghosts series 2 is coming soon if they’re repeating the first one 🤞

The office (uk version and American are both pretty funny)
This country
People just do nothing
That Mitchell and Webb look

Ccccchanges · 20/07/2020 11:25

@CaptainMyCaptain there is a third series on Netflix too!

I do agree with you, though I enjoyed Luke and Angus’ character development. In series 3 there is an episode which reverts back to the series 1 throwback style, which is an enjoyable watch!

Bbq1 · 20/07/2020 11:51

The Big Bang theory definitely. Love it and recently we watched it all through again. The entire 12 series are on Netflix.

Standrewsschool · 20/07/2020 20:23

Worzel Gummidge - the new version is worth watching as well.

Also enjoyed The Gone Wrong show mentioned above.

Krook · 20/07/2020 20:30

This Country
Friday Night Dinner
Modern Family
The Office
Detectorists
After Life/Derek (although sad as well!)

CaptainMyCaptain · 21/07/2020 08:27

Worzel Gummidge - the new version is worth watching as well. The bad scarecrows had me laughing out loud.

billyt · 21/07/2020 15:04

As PP. Friday Night Dinner is brilliant, as is Derry Girls. Both on All4.

Also binged on old Mock the Weeks that I hadn't seen before

Twilbury · 22/07/2020 10:43

Thank you everyone for all the recommendations, I have a few to look at now.

I have started on Parks and Rec and yes I am loving it.

We all need a bit of funny just now.

I’ve not seen it suggested as it’s a little niche but the funniest thing I’ve ever seen is Stath Let’s Flats
