I am so fed up of this shitshow of a half life we are all living and need cheering up.

I have Netflix and Prime but am struggling to find something to make me laugh at the moment.

DH and I were talking about the Office this morning. He thinks it's hilarious; I can't see it. OTH I think Mrs Brown's Boys is funny. He thinks it's horrendous.

We both agree about Mr Bean and Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Am. Awful.

We both find On The Buses Funny. And Tommy Cooper but I just don't get Morecambe and Wise.

Mrsjayy · 19/07/2020 19:27

Aww yeah Kath and kim.

TheMildManneredMilitant · 19/07/2020 19:30

If it's still streaming then Toast of London is my favourite. That or the Thick of It.

Twilbury · 19/07/2020 19:30

Kath and Kim could be one to revisit for sure @vampirethriller
and I watched dead to me recently, so good choice but too soon for a rewatch.

@Mrsjayy I loved Hamilton, but it did make me cry so not quite the afternoon I was looking for.

DH is now watching bloody football which is annoying.

I am on a real downer at the moment with all this shite so need more escapism.

Thank you all by the way

This Country
Fleabag
Catastrophe
The Other One
Ghosts

nevergooogle · 19/07/2020 19:38

I'm really enjoying 'Love' on Netflix, I properly laugh even though I'm watching alone with earphones.

Twilbury · 19/07/2020 19:49

@nevergooogle that is a new one to me. I will put that on the list.

Reading all the recommendations has made me realise I have clearly watched too much tv .

Another vote for This Country. I got into it just before lockdown and it really kept me going those first grim six weeks.

MaggieTheFrog · 19/07/2020 22:36

Arrested Development on Netflix Grin

Oswin · 19/07/2020 22:39

New girl is my favourite funny show when I need cheering up.
Also young offenders, ghosts and the other one are all very good.

fucknuckle · 19/07/2020 22:52

Toast of London is amazing.

i hear you, Clem Fandango!

TerfTerfTerf · 19/07/2020 23:22

Shitt$ Creek on Netflix
Friday Night Dinner on All4

CaptainMyCaptain · 20/07/2020 07:47

Ghosts was funny (and also kind of lovely), it's on BBC 1 again this week.

solidaritea · 20/07/2020 07:59

Crazy ex girlfriend was a laugh out loud one for me.

sociallydistained · 20/07/2020 08:02

Addicted to Schitts Creek lately. I am nearly finished and I'm going to be so sad. I love David! It has made me LOL lots

nitgel · 20/07/2020 08:06

What we do in the shadows my current fav.

Seems to be a real lack of good laughs imo

cherrytree63 · 20/07/2020 08:06

Friday Night Dinner
Dinner Ladies
Motherland
The Office

PassingByAndThoughtIdDropIn · 20/07/2020 08:07

Spy (Melissa McCarthy and Miranda Hart), Spaced, Some Like It Hot, Oh Brother, Where Art Thou? and Isn’t It Romantic are all on Netflix and worth a go.

PassingByAndThoughtIdDropIn · 20/07/2020 08:07

And the Eurovision film is worth it for Dan Stevens.

cherrytree63 · 20/07/2020 08:09

Spy (the film with Jason Stathom, not the Sacha Cohen series) is on Netflix, very funny.

Imissmoominmama · 20/07/2020 08:09

We’ve watched This Country, The Young Offenders and Brassic throughout lockdown.

BasinHaircut · 20/07/2020 08:11

You won’t go wrong with Parks and Rec. DH and I have just started watching it for the third time. We love it.

Arrested Development is also brilliant brilliant brilliant

EasternDailyStress · 20/07/2020 08:14

I find it really sad that so many American series are being suggested. I have a very British sense of humour, and find it hard to see the comedy in many US programmes. It often seems a bit naive and unsophisticated IMO (generalising here obviously).

I feel like British television culture is being bulldozed due to Netflix and Prime.

Nice to see Green Wing recommended though. Flowers is also good if you like your comedy a bit surreal.

lughnasadh · 20/07/2020 08:14

Kim's Convenience is very funny.

Derry Girls.

Ghosts (BBC iPlayer I think).

I rewatch Miranda now and again, and Outnumbered.

Motherland is good too.
