Your most innovative ice cream flavours and combinations

I fancy making some ice cream this weekend and want to try out unusual flavours, preferably chocolate ones.

Come and tell me your most outrageous, inventive, bonkers or truly indulgent combinations, tried and tested or purely fantasy, so I can be inspired!

Examples of flavours I’ve found intriguing so far:

  • buttered baguette ice cream
  • black peppered strawberry honey balsamic ice cream
  • carrot halwa ice cream
  • Bellini ice cream (white peach and Prosecco)

I have never tired it but wondered often what chilli / curry ice cream would be like , the combo of a hot spice and cold ice cream would confuse my tongue

Davros · 16/07/2020 23:17

I had Parmesan ice cream once. It was amazing, I still drool about it

mrwalkensir · 16/07/2020 23:17

Chilli and lime or chilli and chocolate are indeed delicious.

Strawberry and basil.

Lavender and honey.

Blackberry and bay.

AdaColeman · 16/07/2020 23:23

Tomato or gazpacho served with a scoop of cream cheese and chopped herbs.

MrsMoastyToasty · 16/07/2020 23:24

Jaffa cake ice cream.

AdaColeman · 16/07/2020 23:26

I’ve also thought about fennel ice cream served with cheese shortbread.

WinterAndRoughWeather · 16/07/2020 23:26

I’ve been meaning to experiment with a goat cheese ice cream, to have with figs and a drizzle of honey. I’m going to try it next month when the figs start to come in season.

lottiegarbanzo · 16/07/2020 23:31

Chocolate and blackberry go well.

Also blueberry / myrtle.

Chocolate and chilli

Chocolate and lime

CherryPavlova · 16/07/2020 23:32

The Isle of Wight have garlic ice cream. It sounds disgusting but has been sold for years. I’ve never bought it, preferring something more traditional.

Osquito · 16/07/2020 23:34

Ok, but I want credit/% of profits when you launch your artisanal ice-cream brand:

  • toasted barley tea sorbet (or just barley water for a cleaner flavour)
  • earl grey sorbet
  • violet ice cream with a v fine dark chocolate ripple
  • dark chocolate & stout ice cream
  • caramelised brown sugar banana ice cream, with maybe some sort of flaked nut or ‘crumble’ for texture
  • kalamansi (se Asian sweet citrus) sorbet
TheFormerPorpentinaScamander · 16/07/2020 23:36

DS has persuaded me to order caramel ice cream with the next shop to have with soy sauce!

AlCalavicci · 16/07/2020 23:40

@EweSurname & @Osquito
I will be more than happy to be your tester for this dark chocolate & stout ice cream

HalloumiSalad · 16/07/2020 23:47

Brown bread ice cream! It was amazing, I had it once, years and years ago, hand made by chef in hotel where I was working, so never had it since... Still think of it occasionally. 😳

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 16/07/2020 23:55

Recipes please!

It's a bit boring but lemon meringue is my favourite. Never really understood brown bread. Confused

QueenCT · 17/07/2020 00:00

@HalloumiSalad I used to LOVE brown bread ice cream Smile

AdaColeman · 17/07/2020 00:16

Strawberry with rosehip syrup ripple and crushed rose petals would work.

NetofLemons · 17/07/2020 00:19

Any citrus ice cream

Goats cheese ice cream sounds amazing never tried it

GoldenPlover · 17/07/2020 00:23

I had lots of Ube ice cream when I was in the philippines! Lovely

OchonAgusOchonO · 17/07/2020 00:26

Dark chocolate and goat's cheese. Absolutely gorgeous.

HerRoyalNotness · 17/07/2020 00:30

A local lady makes goat cheese and fig macarons, they’re amazing!

How about maple bacon ice cream?

Pipandmum · 17/07/2020 00:32

It's not exotic but my favourite is mocha almond.

MintyCedric · 17/07/2020 00:42

Cardamom ice cream is really nice.

Theres also a marmalade and mascarpone ice cream recipe on the BBC Good food website. I make it with lime marmalade and serve it with warm dark chocolate torte.

Notwiththeseknees · 17/07/2020 01:22

Was it M&S who made brown bread ice cream? It was divine!

AvocadosBeforeMortgages · 17/07/2020 07:37

When it comes to chocolate & chilli, make sure you eat it quickly! I made it once. It was a nice tingle on the first day, but three weeks later the chilli had developed into an inedible vindaloo level of heat
