I'm home alone briefly and feel like crap. I'm watching Captain Marvel again. The familiarity is soothing.

Strictly Ballroom!

GinWithASplashOfTonic · 13/07/2020 21:40

Depends on my mood:
Bridget jones
Harry Potter
A few good men
Sisterhood of the travelling pants
Legally Blonde

Itstartedinbarcelona · 13/07/2020 21:55

Bridget Jones, When Harry met Sally, You’ve got mail, Sleepless in Seattle, Pride and Prejudice - tv series, Coming Home tv series or Persuasion with Ciarian Hinds. Oh and love a Room with a view too - must watch that again soon.

MadamShazam · 13/07/2020 22:09

Oh yes! The LOTR trilogy, I forgot about those, love them.

Rhine · 13/07/2020 22:38

The Sound of Music
The Wizard Of Oz
My Fair Lady
Oliver
Grease

Viviennemary · 13/07/2020 22:48

Ba'al the Storm God. So awful it's good. And another disaster type film Snowmageddon which is pretty daft too. Also love Calamity Jane.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 13/07/2020 23:17

@Viviennemary - if you like Snowmageddon, have you tried Sharknado? It is so bad it is irresistible!

Sharknado is awesome!

But my ultimate favourite in the 'so bad it's good' category is The Room. It is AMAZING and hilarious.

SickOfNorthernExile · 13/07/2020 23:22

The Family Stone
Practical Magic
Vicky Christina Barcelona
Lost in Translation
Beaches
Mystic Pizza
About Time
Four Weddings and a Funeral
Any of Almodovars films with Penelope Cruz

And Paddington. 1 or 2 Grin

elQuintoConyo · 13/07/2020 23:42

Death Becomes her - Meryl Street, Goldie Hawn, Bruce Willis, Isabella Rosselini, fabulous!

The Mummy - with Brendan Fraser.

Top Gun - I was 11yo when it came out and I'm an RAF child, so I appreciate both the dogfights AND the beach volleyball scene Grin

Muriel's Wedding, Strictly Ballroom, Priscilla - my favourite Australian trilogy.

The Godfather 1+2, Goodfellas, My Cousin Vinny.

The Name of the Rose, Jamon Jamon, Cyrano de Bergerac.

Not so much guilty pleasures but comfort films.

VetOnCall · 13/07/2020 23:47

I forgot about LOTR and World War Z too, I love both of those!

Ignoble · 13/07/2020 23:55

Other Mystic Pizza fans, @Alonelonelyloner and @SickOfNorthernExile! I think I originally fancied Vincent D’Onofrio and William R Moses, but then I just got fond of it all.

nocoolnamesleft · 13/07/2020 23:55

While You Were Sleeping & French Kiss. I'm also fond of The Birdcage, Priscilla, Queen of the Desert and Steel Magnolias.

Tillygetsit · 14/07/2020 02:24

The Fisherking. I have watched that film over and over.

Ritascornershop · 14/07/2020 02:30

Sense and Sensibility. Everyone looks so lovely, lovely scenery, good story (thanks to Ms Austen).

AllNewThings · 14/07/2020 02:44

Practical Magic and National Lampoon's Vacation

Beetle76 · 14/07/2020 02:51

Literally comfort food films: Tortilla Soup. Chef.
Do not watch either without snacks.

AngeloMysterioso · 14/07/2020 03:40

You’ve Got Mail
Midnight In Paris
The “making of” discs from the extended editions of Lord of the Rings (before I lost the DVDs Sad). I’ve watched those more times than the actual films I think!
