Slight tweak to the suggestion, but here it is.

The 3 pubs closing is causing some righteous outrage. Firstly accusing those who have tested positive going to the pub after their tests (once they knew they were ill) as they couldn't have got the results back so quickly. Once it was pointed out that they can come back that quickly (or it could have been people who are routinely tested) and it shows the systems works, they've moved on to saying "that's only the ones who've bothered coming forward". There's school dementing thrown in as wellHmm

BogRollBOGOF · 07/07/2020 08:39

That's what bothers me about the mask wearing.

Plus we've come so far without them.

There are so many practical problems with them (that just get dismissed, unless you're an ITU nurse) so they really should be reserved for situations where they make a practical difference.

I'd be impressed if a mask stopped me breathing my non-existant Covid 19 all over my granny 50 miles away Grin

ISaySteadyOn · 07/07/2020 08:41

A combination of ASD and dyspraxia make it impossible for me to wear a mask even for performative reasons. Luckily, these are covered by tfl's exemption regulations but I still felt really nervous on the bus yesterday to get DD1 new shoes.

She clung to my arm and hid behind me the whole time we were out. She's 9. What has this done to our children?

NothingIsWrong · 07/07/2020 08:41

Morning lovelies, I'm out on site already today, legged it early doors. Lovely sunshine down here and I'm doing my best to stay up and optimistic. Will probably last as long as it takes to get home and start wading through my emails, by hey ho. I'll take an upbeat start even if it gets worse.

Chatting to someone yesterday and said "isn't it great news, no confirmed cases in our district for 7 days". Got accused of lying. Nice. She then said there were loads of cases but the government weren't telling us about them, they just want us all to die. How do you argue with that?

Allflightscancelled · 07/07/2020 08:46

Almost no one wears masks properly anyway. Virtually everyone I see takes them down to talk, or just walks around with their mouths but not their noses covered. Because it's uncomfortable, I guess. But hey, that's ok because I'm proving I'm being a good person by wearing one, so there's no need to be uncomfortable as well, right?

Teateaandmoretea · 07/07/2020 08:47

How do you argue with that?

I'm at the stage where I would just go for pure rudeness 'Don't be so ridiculous'

Nihiloxica · 07/07/2020 08:49

Ugh, it's overcast and cold here.

I'm still in bed, reading. Could totally go back to sleep.

The Melbourne thing is horrific. So many Dementors will be weak at the knees at the idea of armed police confining the poor to a tower block.

That's what this is all about for most of them - class-based control.

They're afraid of the virus of the unruly lower orders who won't do as they are told.

Mascotte · 07/07/2020 08:50

@NothingIsWrong I've realised that there simply no point in attempting positivity with them. I just get annoyed with the inevitable doom laden responses.

NothingIsWrong · 07/07/2020 08:53

Yup, I think rude is the way forward. I'm generally quite forthright so it won't be a complete surprise if I start telling people not to be ridiculous.

Right. Bricks inspected. Off home to deal with the emails

KaronAVyrus · 07/07/2020 08:54

I’m still genuinely shocked how most of our fundamental human rights have been taken off us and instead of there being outrage people having been cheering governments throughout the West on.
None of this feels real.

Mascotte · 07/07/2020 08:55

😂@NothingIsWrong good on you.

I'm quite wet normally so have been employing random excuses to change the subject after my first ill fated skirmish in the wild.

InsaneInTheViralMembrane · 07/07/2020 08:55

“Performance muzzle wearing” indeed. The only person I’ve seen wearing the government muzzle all the time is a young lad who works in the village shop. Such a shame as he’s got the sort of face you’d want to lick even if he had the bubonic plague. 😁

I too am all touched and talked-out but I have a reprieve in just 4 short weeks. My dad is escaping wales and driving up to Scotland where he’s booked a cottage in Bumfuck, Nowhere and is taking my children away for a week. They’ll all have a fabulous time and I’ll have a week to get my shit together because it would be a crying shame to spend the week horizontal on the couch eating spicy nil-naks.

@QuietlyLurkingintheCorner can you tell me more about the chewables please? Is all the jewellery for our anxious kids?

I wonder how many of us out there feel like us? You only hear and see the DS
RobinHobb · 07/07/2020 08:59

Morning all
In 20 minutes i will venture to the local playground to take the kids out. The sun is shining and girls have been in all afternoon.... fingers crossed it is normal and open.
A bit worried it is limited to something ridiculous like 3 kids and we will have to wait. I don't mind waiting but my 2yo has a pathological hatred of queues which has made going out nowadays quite a joyful experience
Wish me luck
Can't believe I'm anxious about going to a playground ffs

InsaneInTheViralMembrane · 07/07/2020 08:59

Having lived abroad a long time, I’m very glad I didn’t give birth here and I’m a huge fan of the European health models. But then it’s more dementory to leap to the binary nhs or US models. I’ve had wonderful care from UK health professionals - but at the same time as is I’m sure the same case as many of you - sat bewildered in a waiting room watching 5 nurses appear to do very little except escort patients from their seat to the consultant’s room.

I called an ambulance for my blue-lipped neighbour before this kicked off (we suspect it was). Some of the paramedics from my local hospital were seconded to London to help out there because there was so little going on here. Bet Queen Nicola doesn’t want people talking about stuff like that!

It’s fucking insane.
trappedsincesundaymorn · 07/07/2020 09:00

Good morning all.

Just going to grab a coffee and catch up on what I've missed on this thread. back in a bit.

torydeathdrug · 07/07/2020 09:00

Oops I just posted on here except I didn’t - god knows where I posted (yes hungover). Melbourne is terrifying anyone who doesn’t feel for those poor people is sub-human. “It’s not about punishing you it’s to protect you” ... chilling

Mascotte · 07/07/2020 09:00

Sorry for all those with anxious kids. Especially those with ASD, extra hard.

Even my big strapping boy has been in with me and the dog the past few nights, nothing said but the last time it happened was when his dad left.

This is not all worth it.

TheAdventuresoftheWishingChair · 07/07/2020 09:00

Morning morning.

I know it's not the done thing to link to other threads in here but there is an absolute howler in the CV section today. I just had to laugh it is so dreadful. (Am I allowed to even refer to a thread like that? I still might be committing a faux pas!)

I sat out in the park with friends last night. There was a group of teens smoking a lot of weed nearby and we were laughing about the police turning up and arresting us because there were eight of us and ignoring the drug taking. Grin One of the women is a surgeon and we had a great non-dementory conversation about the nonsense that is being thrown about atm. A mutual friend who wasn't there works as a nurse and is full of how there will be a second wave and stricter lockdown in October and I know that's because the NHS are making plans for that. But of course they are - they would be so stupid not to. It doesn't mean they know one will happen.

I have another friend who needs pretty vital surgery - she was paying to go privately as the NHS cancelled her surgery 3 times last year and she eventually gave up on them. She had a November date for this year and it's been cancelled because the hospital is going to be used by the NHS still then. Her surgery isn't for anything life-threatening but it's one of those situations where it's still having a big impact on her and she's very upset.

I'm off to enjoy myself doing some laundry and very grateful I'm going to feel too that I get to do it. Wink

InsaneInTheViralMembrane · 07/07/2020 09:03

As for our civil rights - I understand the panic at first - we didn’t know what was heading our way. But now I’m tempted to dig out a copy of Naomi klein’s shock doctrine -
Although I fear it’ll give me nightmares.

Bollss · 07/07/2020 09:08

I'm going to have to wear a mask all day every day at work, I think. I'm not looking forward to it but it serves a purpose in that they can't / send the whole dept home if anyone catches it.

I don't wear one out and about because I don't get close to anyone!

Nihiloxica · 07/07/2020 09:10

It's weird how the YEWMAN RIGHTZ people now are the same so-called leftwingers who also mock FREEZE PEACH.

I'm old enough to remember when the mainstream left campaigned for human rights and freedom of speech.

Completely. It feel like the left are having a breakdown of sorts.
Mascotte · 07/07/2020 09:22

The lefties on Twitter are terrified of death, it seems. And desperate to be Looked After and told what to do. It's very weird.
