Slight tweak to the suggestion, but here it is.

Bad day today. The 5 year old has tonsillitis for the fourth time since lockdown started, and the second time since he's been back at school. So I spent yesterday getting AB's and putting him through another coronavirus test, so he and his brother can go back to school/nursery in the next 14 days (even though it's tonsillitis, he had a fever so...Covid). Last week the 3 year old had chickenpox, even though he was vaccinated as a baby, and had also had it a year ago. I am so, so done with this all. They'd just started back at school/nursery. It seems ridiculous, because I've done months of it already, but honestly, today, the thought of yet another day trying to work whilst they whine at me and fight with each other honestly makes me want to get in the car, drive off, and keep driving.

@Nihiloxica

It's weird how the YEWMAN RIGHTZ people now are the same so-called leftwingers who also mock FREEZE PEACH.

I'm old enough to remember when the mainstream left campaigned for human rights and freedom of speech.

Freeze peach!! that took me far too long to work out. I've ended up getting into a disagreement on FB about telling people what to do. I've said all we can do is take our own steps to stay safe and make sure that we protect ourselves. She's saying "wear a mask or you'll cause people to die" I'm going to ignore her now, can't argue with stupid. What's happening in Melbourne is horrific. Officials have lost their collective minds.
Allflightscancelled · 07/07/2020 09:25

TuckMyWin There's nothing I can say to help, but I've been there too, when my DD was little. It must be so tough with 2, and in the current shitstorm Flowers

torydeathdrug · 07/07/2020 09:27

@TuckMyWin oh much sympathy, when my eldest two were little we had months & months like that, just one thing after another - it’s gruelling enough in normal times.

TheAdventuresoftheWishingChair · 07/07/2020 09:28

Tuckmywin huge sympathy from me too. That sounds so shit.

Supermarketworker06 · 07/07/2020 09:28

We had a moment here last week (Wiltshire), when our cases quadrupled. Went from 1 to 4, I believe, cue mass hysteria in some people.
A lady at my till was talking about it, I told her that the council had put a comment about it on their website. She insisted that the man st the garage had known all about it and had told her all the details. I replied that if the man at the garage knows about it, it must be right then. Sarcasm? Went straight over her head.

Nihiloxica · 07/07/2020 09:30

Shit @TuckMyWin, that sounds rubbish.

Tonsillitis is so sore, poor little fella. Sad

Does he need them out? That sounds like a lot of bouts in four months.

You poor things. We had a period like that last autumn and I genuinely nearly lost my mind.

@SockYarn

Dementor in Chief Nicola Sturgeon will be delighted as it's raining this morning.

Makes sitting in a pavement cafe or beer garden a lot less attractive.

My plastic face visors are being delivered soon, I am refusing to wear a mask because they are so bloody awful and uncomfortable. And I don't like not being able to see people's faces, it's so sinister.

I am back volunteering in a local charity shop this week, not looking forward to it really as it's going to be a lot of change and procedures. At the best of times the charity has some silly rules and procedures in the name of "health and safety" and this is going to make it all 100 times worse. One of the people I volunteer with has quite severe learning difficulties and doesn't cope well with change at all. Quite often if something happens in the shop like someone being rude to her she needs a cuddle and a bit of comfort. We'll probably be banned from doing that (although if she's distressed I'll be giving her a hug anyway).

Will be weird going back in, we closed in mid-March with the shop full of Easter Eggs and a mother's day display. And other local charities have been swamped with donations, people are so entitled about dropping things off and will be so horrid if we turn them away.

DD and I went into a charity shop the other day. We were the only people in there and DD is only interested in looking at the books so she headed straight down to the back of the shop. There was a one way system laid out on the floor which DD accidentally went the wrong way around, and the lady behind the desk shot out to firmly shoo her back around the right way. I go to this charity shop quite often and I’m sure this particular assistant has learning difficulties and has certainly been told that everyone must use the one way system. Most adults, unless they are very officious, wouldn’t make a child in an otherwise empty shop go back around, but obviously someone with LD who’s had it drummed into them that customers must follow the rules would. While I just apologised on DDs behalf and carried on browsing I can see some people would take offence and potentially would have had a go at the shop assistant.

You’re not suggesting a medical procedure that isn’t directly related to Covid are you? Are you mad? It’s the National Corona Service now!
Bollss · 07/07/2020 09:34

@TuckMyWin oh poor thing!! I feel your pain Ds has "enlarged tonsils" and as a result he gets tonsillitis a lot too. I wish I had some advice for you Flowers

Nihiloxica · 07/07/2020 09:34

Sorry, I don't know what came over me. Lost my mind there for a second.

Allflightscancelled · 07/07/2020 09:37

Well. After a massive increase in the total number of cases in my local area last week (apparently down to a new way of counting, that wasn't explained), it seems that today we have had a decrease of 8 in the total number of cases – probably also down to a new way of counting, again not explained as far as I can see.

This is all total and utter bollocks and none of these numbers means anything. It's almost like it's being done on purpose to confuse and befuddle Hmm. "Bullshit baffles brains" as my dear old dad used to say.

InsaneInTheViralMembrane · 07/07/2020 09:38

Every time a pre-schooler has their tonsils out a granny dies.

chocolatesweets · 07/07/2020 09:42

@InsaneInTheViralMembrane thank god for you people!

torydeathdrug · 07/07/2020 09:42

I mentioned about the missing hospital deaths earlier - found a nice graph to illustrate it. The dirty line is average - since the end of May fewer (far fewer now) people are dying in hospital - sick people aren’t getting to hospital & surgeries are not being done. A poster on the numbers thread was castigated for describing hospitals as ‘empty’ but since ITU beds are unoccupied, surgical units not functioning, diagnostic procedures not taking place & swathes of clinics cancelled I think it’s a fair description.

Ads have had enough of malakas On July 4, they went crackers.
TuckMyWin · 07/07/2020 09:42

Thank you, and sorry for the pity party. It's just that, like with anything, the "current situation" makes it worse because if one of them gets a fever, even if it's bloody obviously not coronavirus, they are both home until we have a negative test result. Although I did draw the line at getting the little one tested when he had chickenpox last week. And the test is horrid- I had to pretty much pin him down in the car yesterday :(

Nihiloxica · 07/07/2020 09:43

Apparently if I wear a mask of virtue at least one of my Grannies will come back to life.

I saw it on the BBC.

torydeathdrug · 07/07/2020 09:43

Dirty line not dirty line

torydeathdrug · 07/07/2020 09:44

DOTTY is a word fucking autocorrect

torydeathdrug · 07/07/2020 09:46

But do the masks protect you against zombie grannies? Hmm

Mascotte · 07/07/2020 09:50

I can't believe people are talking about taking children for any medical procedures!!!! They'll be running about licking scalpels!! People will die!! I despair.

Nihiloxica · 07/07/2020 09:50

@torydeathdrug

But do the masks protect you against zombie grannies? Hmm
How rude.

Just because someone has been dead for 7 years and was born 102 years ago doesn't mean their life has no value and we should euthanise them.

BarkandCheese · 07/07/2020 09:56

My DD is going for her first orthodontics appointment today. They’ve been weirdly undementorish, they had to cancel her first appointment back in March (although we had a zoom consultation where I had to try to get my iPad into DDs mouth) but immediately remade one for this week and rang up to confirm we were coming today. Of course there’s the usual fuss about masks and waiting outside to be called in, but considering orthodontics isn’t essential and I can’t even get through to speak to my dentist I’m slightly impressed with them keeping going.

Allflightscancelled · 07/07/2020 09:57

Apparently if I wear a mask of virtue at least one of my Grannies will come back to life

Of course! Doh! THAT'S what has happened to the eight people missing since yesterday from our local numbers count. Point me towards yhe masks! I'm in!!!!
