There must be nice, practical shoes that aren't heels, ballet pumps or trainers!

Coming to the point where pairs of shoes I own need replacing or repairing.

I want nice, practical, comfy shoes to wear that aren't "fashionable trainers", ballet slippers that dissolve or heels that make you hobble along.

What is this mythical shoe, please?! Is there one?

Yes, I have boots - but I guess in my head they are more for when its cold winter weather.

Loafers, brogues, footglove-style wedges, Fitflops or Birkenstocks, Vans, Mary-Janes, Earth Spirit style sandal-shoe crossover things (not beautiful but fine for walking.)

Loafers are great because they work equally well with skirts, smart trousers or jeans which is rare in a shoe.

I go from boots to Birkenstocks 🤣

Yes, they're lovely. Have a look at Skechers too OP. They do lots of non-trainer shoes and styles and do half sizes. Everything I've had of theirs has been very comfortable.

The pink brogues are sooo comfy. I don't have that exact pair (I'm am an 8 and those only go up to a 7 annoyingly). I got mine somewhere random in Europe. Mine look pretty much the same. Getting worn now which is disastrous given the difficulty finding good pink leather ones with the wedge sole in the UK in size 8.

I agree with @wowfudge that Sketchers are incredibly comfortable. Like walking on marshmallows. But they are never elegant.

I love my (very casual) earth spirit sandals.

Clark Hamble oaks or supergas. Supergas are fair more comfortable and supportive than converse and often go on sale. The come in a huge variation of colours, patterns and materials too.
