I love bats. We have one in our garden which we see at dusk whizzing about. This however is taking things a bit too far! Scariest thing I have seen in a while (if it's real!!!)

@userxx we opened the windows as wide as possible. It flew around for about twenty minutes, then went out the window!! Was all very odd. Certainly don't wish to repeat it!

I actually can't believe this thread has got this far without a certain photo being posted Grin

Morgan12 · 03/07/2020 22:35

Get that thing to absolute fuck!

RJnomore1 · 03/07/2020 22:38

Go on @FizzyGreenWater!

Can’t wait.

RHRA · 03/07/2020 22:43

Dear god @ShirleyPhallus, is that real? I'm going to have nightmares tonight 😢

FizzyGreenWater · 03/07/2020 22:44

TA DAH

Human sized bat
ShirleyPhallus · 03/07/2020 22:46

It’s a hammerhead bat!

motorcyclenumptiness · 03/07/2020 22:49

Shirley is that a warthog drying itself with a bath towel?

Camomila · 03/07/2020 22:51

DHs family are from the Philippines, he'd heard of the giant bats but has never seen one.
He says he's seen some cool fish though.

XiCi · 03/07/2020 22:54

Absolutely fucking hideous

SpillTheTeaa · 03/07/2020 22:55

I'd actually cry if I saw that and convince myself it's definitely Dracula out for my blood Grin

pointythings · 03/07/2020 22:59

I love bats of all sizes and those flying foxes are gorgeous. I would love to see one in the wild.

PlanDeRaccordement · 03/07/2020 23:01

I’d prefer a giant fruit eating vegetarian bat to a giant cannibal meat eating London rat any day.

PlanDeRaccordement · 03/07/2020 23:06

You know there are 3 rats for every 1 human living on the island of Great Britain, right?

Buzzfrightyears · 03/07/2020 23:11

My brain is confused - it’s face is cute but the wings are scary.

donquixotedelamancha · 03/07/2020 23:13

Depends how you cook them both.

Katinski · 03/07/2020 23:31

My current most fave TV series is What We Do In the Shadows (v.funny about these bat bloodsucking people who live on Staten Island) so I've got to say I love them!, BUT irl, where my family live in the Carolinas, it's reckoned that 1 in 6 bats carry rabies and therefore they have Travis our local BatmanWink on speed dial should one get into the house. Travis comes along straight away with his sort of fishing net on an extending pole, traps it and takes it away. I think he releases it outside but not sure.

Ginkypig · 03/07/2020 23:33

Just don't walk about with a guava in your hand and you'll be fine Grin

ComDummings · 03/07/2020 23:36

Jeeeeez the wingspan on some of these bats! I like bats but I wouldn’t want one with 6 foot wings flying past my head on a dark night

QuestionableMouse · 03/07/2020 23:38

@ShirleyPhallus

Can I just drop this here
What the everloving fuck is that?!

Did Doctor Frankenstein create it?

letmelookatyourplugs · 03/07/2020 23:47

I had a chance to be up close to these amazing creatures! They are gorgeous and so gentle and curious! No need to be afraid of them. They are endangered. People kill and abuse them all the time due to poaching, fear and worry about them damaging fruit crops. It's horribly sad and cruel.

Doingtheboxerbeat · 04/07/2020 01:25

This is triggering memories of the Mothman Prophecies and that's not good.
