Just looking through the catalogue makes me so happy. I'd love to buy the gelato shop. In fact to have the whole department store would be amazing.
Dd(4) loves playing with them and they are definelty hers but I do sometimes think about putting it all together properly when she's at school. With all the little cakes on the right plates etc.
This is what lockdown has done to me!!!!! 😂😂

Defo. As are my little ponies. I am partial to buying one every few months. DD quite likes them so it makes up for my deprived childhood of having very few toys.

Ducksurprise · 03/07/2020 17:10

@Pangur2 the toilet with the flush was even better in real life than it was in the book.

IdblowJonSnow · 03/07/2020 17:15

I've got my eye on the lighthouse set... DD not keen on that one! Shock

TheGroak · 03/07/2020 17:15

I LOVE SF!!!!
My eldest was never a playset kind of girl. The carefully thought out playmobil went largely unused Shock so imagine my absolute joy when I realised my younger DD is obsessed with play sets even at the age of 2!! The playmobil is out again and being played with hours on end and I’m so happyyyyy!!
Can’t wait to buy her SF.....

Harpischord · 03/07/2020 18:11

I only had a child to have an excuse for Sylvanians.
DH has a train set.
One day when DC move out we are having their bedrooms for our toys!

Breathmiller · 03/07/2020 18:49

I don't do Syvlanian Family but I did wonder if it was bad that I was delighted today when my son said I could do one of his Star Wars aqua beads ALL ON My OWN. (Although he did insist on doing the spray which was fine with me).
C3PO looks fab even though i say so myself. Grin

EatsShootsAndRuns · 03/07/2020 18:52

I'm too old to have played with Sylvanian Families (they came out when I had left school) but I'm not too old now Grin

So very tempted to get some having seen them Wink

Homemadearmy · 03/07/2020 19:19

I really want the hedgehog family. But I know my kids would mock me 🤣

Wbeezer · 03/07/2020 19:24

My youngest DS developed a love of Silvanian families whuch i was happy ti oblige. He did end up making a Silvanian horror film featuring a nasty murder in the bakery...

Puddlelane123 · 03/07/2020 19:30

I feel the same - love Sylvanian Families. I’m quite a purist though and I worry that Sylvania is becoming too industrialised. Back in my day Bud Timbertop and the gang had gentle fun in the forest, playing in the swings and riding bikes to the bakery. Now they have shoe shops, makeup shops, all manner of commerical enterprises and I worry that the forest has lost its charm. I also find it distrurbing that the forest creatures have now been joined by wild animals like elephants, panda bears all sorts. And the scale is all wrong too? On a similar note, can someone explain why the poor horse pulling the gypsy caravan wasn’t entitled to clothes, furniture and a little house? These are the things that keep me awake at night.

Puddlelane123 · 03/07/2020 19:34

To be clear, I have nothing against the elephants, panda bears, kangaroos etc. I just don’t think they belong in the forest? But does that make me the Sylvanian equivalent to Nigel Farage??

mygrandchildrenrock · 03/07/2020 19:48

Wbeezer That really made me chuckle! Grin

Puddlelane123 · 03/07/2020 19:56

Just seen that they now have a hot dog van! I rest my case. I mean I ask you, who is going to break the news to the pig family???

QueenOfPain · 03/07/2020 19:58

My DP bought me the little marshmallow mouse triplets for Xmas.

SageRosemary · 03/07/2020 20:01

One of the highlights of our trip to London some years ago was a pilgrimage to the Sylvanian Family Shop with our girls. Wow, wow, wow, who could believe there would be so much SF stuff in one place?

SageRosemary · 03/07/2020 20:05

@MrsWooster

Not another trans thread?!? 🧛🏻‍♂️

Mrs Wooster - I nominate you for best comment of the day!

My sisters and I had quite a lot of Sylvanian Families between us, we had a little village set up in our bedroom. One of my fondest memories is playing with recently unwrapped SF as Christmas presents, and playing with them under the tree with fairy lights coming through the windows.

SoMuchToBits · 03/07/2020 20:16

I'm like this with Playmobil! Keep buying more of it. Ds is 19...

Spied · 03/07/2020 20:17

Well I had fond memories of Sylvanian Families as a child and couldn't wait to buy the sets for DD.
Bought the manor house, the jewellery/make up boutique and pizza delivery hedgehog last Christmas and I was really quite deflated.
The make-up and accessories in the boutique are far to tiny for even DD to pick up and display properly you need a magnifying glass to see what some items actually are, and the pizza set is just rubbish with little boxes that don't even fit together.
DD was also very underwhelmed which is sad.

Wagsandclaws · 03/07/2020 20:18

I've got loads , I used a lady on ebay that decorates the houses and bought the old windmill and hotel decorated. I have two Ds who are 7 & 11 ... the 7 yo quite likes them Wink

BraeburnMia · 03/07/2020 20:44

My dd (8) has so many of the buildings. Too many for her room, so we have had to put some in each of the grandparents houses. It's all she wants at Christmas and birthdays so she has built up a huge collection. I have just spent 3 hours sorting out the houses and shops we have here. Once they were all sorted she asked if I could play with her so my whole day today has been sylvanian based.

She is a member of the fan club so has loads of magazines too.

YaWeeSkitter · 03/07/2020 22:28

@Pangur2

I used to ask for Sylvanian families every Christmas and birthday and never got a single bit. (Mam said I would lose the tiny bits.) I used to pour over the catalogues; there was a little toilet with a little flush! And a shop with loads of tiny bits! I don’t want kids and the only bit aspect of that which is sad is that I don’t have an excuse to buy SF as an adult. Not bitter at all, nope.
@pangur2 You can surely have a hobby ? Dolls houses are tremendously popular for adults to decorate and furnish. The houses also need families to live in them . My Dolls house is exactly the right size for Sylvanian families and I have made the ground floor into a cafe/shop with lots of space to display the goods.

@30Puddlelane123 Pandas have been a part of the Sylvanian range since 1992, so hardly new.

I agree about the elephants, meekats and penguin families though.

Has anyone else got the rare Tanuki family?

You can see the size of the Marshmallow triplets compared to the normal baby Marshmallow mice. Also Daddy mouse in the photo to supervise the babies.

The one in the yellow flowery dress is the one from the Japanese Sylvanian park.
