What gift items do you remember from your childhood which would never be gifts today?

Another thread ended up accidentally debating the fact that ashtrays were common gifts for weddings or twenty first birthdays. I remember big marble or onyx ones, and ones on a stand which went by the arm of the chair. No one smoked in our house and we still had a shed load of these things.
Another thing I remember is steering wheel covers, in pleather. What were those about?? And leather covers for the TV listings magazines we all had to have before papers printed what was on with ‘Radio Times’ self importantly embossed on them. (My dad kept his TV Times in there and ringed the programmes he wanted to watch with a Quink ink capitalised ‘Tell Dad When This Is On.’)

Anything else?
@VeggieSausageRoll My MIL would be delighted with one of those ornaments and certainly find a place for it in her large cabinet of random crystal shite.
My nan had a corner display unit full of them. The mirrored back and glass shelves only added to the illusion that there were hundreds (there actually were...)

I loved my blue and yellow roller skates. I used to wear my silver cube deeley boppers with them.

My dairy milk machine took 2ps not 10ps. And I had a few tiny dolls that came in a matchbox and had soft bean bodies. One might have been a rabbit.

Also I had a swatch watch with a smelly strap.

Wade's Whimsies! We used to save pocket money to buy these.

My kids have got a pair of clackers each. They still sell them in the UAE. That's where we got them.

We used to buy my Dad a lighter or darts for Christmas. Sometimes a pack of cigars.

I remember "Silver Lady" high heeled plastic shoes from Argos. I was desperate for them.

My sister got a Merry Go Round pushchair. When you pushed it the dolls spun round in their seats but if you went to fast they flew out. Disappointing. Played with once.

Little kitchens and bakeries with moulds and dough and you could make cakes and jellies to put on the shelves.

Pink and Pretty Barbie and you could make ten different outfits out of all her clothes and accessories.

I’m getting confused over click clacks. I had click clacks that were rectangular pieces of wood on a long length of ribbon that used to cascade down and you had to keep up or your knuckles got hit!
And there was a rugby shaped plastic ball on lengths of rope and a friend would hold one end and you the other and to move the’ball’ you’d have to open your arms the widest to stop it from reaching you and back to your opposition. Is that what people are calling click clack?
I had a collection of dolls that had a polystyrene head stuck into a body by a long sharp spike. So dangerous and so ugly they had huge eyes and horrible dresses with pouffy shoulders and bottom! They scared me but people kept buying them for me.

Im pretty sure my DS who is 6.5 and has an Asd diagnosis also has adhd however, we have to hand in the school questionnaire And the parent questionnaire to the consultant pead and you can tell by the answers from the teacher that she doesn’t think he has adhd even tho the school put him on the Sen register for social interaction difficulties(without prompting)... Has anyone got a diagnosis without prof of adhd behaviour in more than one setting? Appt in 16th July!
