Does anyone remember my thread about grandparents who wouldn’t tell me or DD where her dad is?

I can’t find the thread or the user name I was using at that time.

I just wanted to update anyone who doesn’t remember and who gave me advice. I actually took the advice of a few people and hired an online people tracing company. They found him within 48hrs.

I haven’t told the GP’s I know where he is or DD but I am planning on telling her. I’ve also told the CMS his new address.

I wanted to say thanks to everyone who replied

I remember your thread, well done OP.

I used a company that a poster mentioned. CCS nationwide.

Googled them and checked reviews first, they are on trust a trader or some kind of website like that. I thought it would be really expensive but it was £60 for a standard search which could take up to 10 working days I think. They had his name in 2!!

You have to fill out a form with as much info as you have (obviously I had quite a lot). You do have to say why you are tracing them. I checked the debtor box. Not sure how strict they are on making sure that is why you are looking for someone. I told the lady who replied to my email he was an ex and owes maintenance and she said it was fine. Best £60 I’ve ever spent and if they don’t find them you get your money back.

Interesting that someone describes Newquay as Neverland! Just the kind of place he would like

My through process on telling DD is that I think she “looks” for him when we are out. It might settle her a bit to know he isn’t here and he has a new house somewhere else. Plus it won’t all be some big news story when she is older, she’ll just know he lives far away IYSWIM.

If the grandparents find out I know I won’t tell them how I found out. I’ll just say someone told me and that’s that

Glad you’ve found him. It’s really poor of CMS that you had to resort to private search when CMS could have easily found him themselves in a couple of days too by the sounds of things.

Mycatismadeofstringcheese · 21/06/2020 23:09

Hope CMS don’t prove as useless again in getting him to pay for his child.

LadyEloise · 22/06/2020 01:02

Thank you MadeinFrance

SHAR0N · 22/06/2020 01:13

Well done OP. I hope you get some money for him.

Such a shabby way for him and his parents to treat your precious DD.

PrincessForADay · 25/06/2020 10:01

I remember your thread, well done on finding him. How is your relationship with his DPs just now?

MadeInFrance · 29/06/2020 16:05

Another very quick update.

The CMS have tracked him down and have awarded DD the grand total of............................

£3.50 A WEEK. Yep. THREE ENGLISH POUNDS AND FIFTY PENCE A WEEK.

I'm almost giddy with excitement. Just trying to work out what I should spend it on first.

CMS aren't worth it as a dept, are they? Idiots!

MyOwnSummer · 29/06/2020 16:24

Oh WOW OP, champagne at your house tonight!

Three pound fifty. What an absolute fucking insult that is. Why the hell do we accept this godawful system as a society - non resident parents, almost always men, just decide to dump their kids and the state colludes in their neglectful, despicable behaviour.

America has the right idea on this one.

istheresomethingishouldknow · 29/06/2020 16:32

Insulting.

you can tell the system was set up by men. Arseholes.

Nsky · 29/06/2020 16:33

Glad you got him, even with meagre maintence

Mulhollandmagoo · 29/06/2020 16:34

Thats absolutely disgraceful!!!! I'm so sorry OP both you and your daughter deserve so much more

PrincessForADay · 29/06/2020 16:37

The system really needs to change!

rareateeth · 29/06/2020 16:38

Alright show off Hmm

Seriously. What a shower of shit the CMS are.

CayrolBaaaskin · 29/06/2020 16:39

I in remember your other thread. Well done op.

MushyPeasAreTheDevilsFood · 29/06/2020 16:41

What a fucking disgrace! I remember your thread, too. £3.50 are they having a laugh?! Yes they clearly are laughing at women, aren't they. £3.50. Fuck me. And they didnt even do their job and fine him in the first place.

Sunnydayshereatlast · 29/06/2020 16:44

I would thank him publicly on face book.

Mycatismadeofstringcheese · 29/06/2020 16:46

Oh gosh I’m so sorry

Medievalist · 29/06/2020 16:50

How do they work it out - as a proportion of income? Is he unemployed? Will he have to make backdated payments?

Mycatismadeofstringcheese · 29/06/2020 16:51

I’ll bet he’s doing that thing where you claim a tiny salary from the business and take the rest as dividends.
Can you see on companies house if he has set up a limited company as that might give a clearer picture.

Mycatismadeofstringcheese · 29/06/2020 16:51

Either that or he’s as useless at running a business as he is at being a parent

MadeInFrance · 29/06/2020 17:00

Apparently he is claiming state benefits. Collect and pay mean that actually i'll get the princely sum of £3.34 after they take their 14p charge for collecting it for me.

rareateeth · 29/06/2020 17:07

What's the point? Honestly who at CMS has set this up as an acceptable level. It's worse than nothing. It's a bloody insult. Less than Minimum wage. Disgraceful.
