What % adult are you?

Justajot · 20/06/2020 20:55

I've begun to realise that all adults actually fit somewhere on a range between being 100% adult and about 20% adult.

Like many things, I think how adult you feel and how adult you look from the outside are quite different things. So how adult do you feel, how adult do you think others would rate you?

EwwSprouts · 20/06/2020 21:25

I would rate me as 80%. I would say others have rated me as 90% since leaving college. I like a laugh but am not very spontaneous. Reliable rather than rebellious. I think also people mistake not drinking for being judgmental when they've had a few. I couldn't give a monkey's how much they drink, I don't like the taste and do like to drive myself home.

BrieAndChilli · 20/06/2020 21:31

Well I feel about 20% adult. Don’t own a house, hate gardening, don’t have a career, having sussed a style or whether I am an autumn or a winter or whatever, don’t have really good friends.
People probably think of me as about 80% adult, I have 3 kids, am perceived as organised, have all sorts in my handbag, am prepared and plan for all eventualities, very good cook and cake decorator.

321youreback · 20/06/2020 21:49

I was told if you haven't grown up by 50 you don't have to !

donquixotedelamancha · 20/06/2020 21:51

About 130% by mass.

sunlightflower · 20/06/2020 21:52

People probably perceive me as about 80% adult I reckon. I see myself as maybe 60% adult. I don't do anything too crazy and have the sensible job, house, kids etc. But I sometimes have cake for breakfast.

ProseccoBubbleFantasies · 20/06/2020 21:52

5%

Probably perceived at about 20%

ShipshapeShore · 20/06/2020 21:53

100%. I own a gravy boat - a nice big sturdy one Grin

YesItsMeIDontCare · 20/06/2020 21:54

I suspect most view me at about 80% adult. I feel about 10%.

I normally say I'm an adult but I'm not a grown up.

AWiseWomanOnceSaidFuckThisShit · 20/06/2020 21:57

50%

I'm responsible, considerate and sensible. I own my own home, earn my own money and pay my own bills. I'd never want or expect to rely on others to look after me.

But I have temper tantrums over the slightest things and I hate having to deal with people on a day to day level. I still sometimes feel like that little girl hiding behind my Mum's skirt because she's scared of all the grown ups!

SisyphusDad · 20/06/2020 21:58

@donquixotedelamancha GrinGrinGrin

By that standard I beat you - I'm probably at least 150% Blush

Psychologically, probably 25% new - born baby, 40% child (I've just realised today that I am Peter Pan) and 30% adult (have to be, else my family would collapse). I'm working on splitting the new - born between my child and adult, but it's an uphill struggle.

SisyphusDad · 20/06/2020 22:01

And also that I can't add up Blush, so probably as the missing 5% to the child. Feels about right.

Justajot · 20/06/2020 22:02

I think I'm heading to 50% on the inside. Maybe 75% on the outside. There are some adult things I can't be arsed with and I'm not sure I'm great at toeing the party line when I'm meant to be.

OP posts:
SisyphusDad · 20/06/2020 22:02

...add... Damn this wine!

Sally2791 · 20/06/2020 22:03

Interesting. Other people would perceive 75%, I feel about 40%, and that’s under duress. I do support myself and my kids but feel like I’m winging it most of the time.

Megan2018 · 20/06/2020 22:06

About 33%
I’m a shit adult. Even though I’m 42, married, DC and a senior role. I’m winging it, and I still need my Dad a lot Blush

I have no idea what people think though, maybe 50%?

gggrrrargh · 20/06/2020 22:07

Good question. I feel about 65% adult - own home, car, child, life insurance, save etc. It’s gone up sharply over the last few years. I’ve taken my points away for my lack of cooking and not being able to park unless the space could fit a limo and a tank next to each other.

I think I’m probably perceived as the same amount of adult actually but might be for different reasons, I know I get hung up on my lack of being able to cook more than others do!

SorrySadDog · 20/06/2020 22:08

Psychologically I’m not as adult as I appear to be. I constantly battle being driven to be selfish and childish, as in thats my nature and I’m constantly running away from it trying to be a decent human being...I’m definitely at the lower end of the scale

yadayadayesokay · 20/06/2020 22:10

20% but I guess people might see me as 60%. I’m approaching mid 30’s, 2 kids, drive, house etc but always feel like I’m play acting being an adult. I still feel like an awkward, uncertain teenager. And I wouldn’t be able to pull off asking someone ‘I beg your pardon?!’ incredulously which I always considered to be a marker of adulthood. I’ve never quite mastered using cling film either, I always fudge it up and it ends up with wrinkles. Proper adults can use cling film effectively.

donquixotedelamancha · 20/06/2020 22:13

100%. I own a gravy boat - a nice big sturdy one

I've got two, one for each hand :-)

dudsville · 20/06/2020 22:15

I clicked because i wanted a link to a quiz to measure this. I think that indicates my overall percentage score!

TheThingWithFeathers · 20/06/2020 22:25

I was also expecting a link to a quiz! Grin

I think I'm about 30% adult. I don't own a house or a car. I need my mum to tell me how to look after my plants. I play with collect Lego and most of the books I read are meant for teenagers.
Oh, and I have a giant soft toy bunny sitting in the corner of my bedroom. In my defence it's a present for my niece which I haven't been able to give her because of lockdown!

The rest of the world, fooled by the grey hair and responsible job, probably assumes I'm about 80% adult.

SuckingDownDarjeeling · 20/06/2020 22:31

I'm an adult in that I can do 'adult' things, legally and capably, but sadly that's where that ends. I'm currently looking forward to when my children start playing imagination games with toys because I'll be sitting with them playing. My hobbies are not 'adult', if anything I find better supplies for some hobbies at children's shops.

I'm incredibly naive and yet tend to think I'm right about everything, just like an 8 year old.

I really do think I fall below the 20%

underneaththeash · 20/06/2020 22:47

Sadly I’m 80% - I wasn’t until Recently. I still like computer games and a few other things, but I’ boring compared to a few years ago.

Justajot · 20/06/2020 22:59

It seems this needs to be a quiz. Obviously the first question is "Do you own a gravy boat?"

OP posts:
PrincessHoneysuckle · 20/06/2020 23:01

I'm 40 and I feel around 70% adult
