One is 2 miles and one is 2.5 miles, they both get the bus which from September they (sorry I) will have to pay for as we are in London.

TerrorWig · 15/06/2020 10:06

Primary is just over half a mile away in one direction, secondary they start at in September is the same but in the other direction.

HemlockStarglimmer · 15/06/2020 10:13

About half a mile. 10 minute walk along the road to the nearest gate, then another 5 minutes across the site to the senior school.
Going the scenic route by the sea takes about 15 minutes but has been known to take three hours to get home depending on the weather and if there is money for ice creams 😁

6 minute walk to primary
10/15 minute walk to secondary it would be less but they closed one entrance years ago and make all the kids walk around the long way. Adds an extra 5 mins to the journey.

SunbathingDragon · 15/06/2020 10:18

About 15 mins away.

DipseeDaisey · 15/06/2020 10:20

10 minute walk, although he rides his bike with his mates, so prob takes him about 3 minutes

happypotamus · 15/06/2020 10:20

It takes me about 10 minutes to walk there on my own, about twice that with slow-moving, reluctant children. When we chose the school my criteria were that it was a good school within walking distance as I can't drive. This is our nearest school and apparently rated one of the best in the city.

TheCanyon · 15/06/2020 10:20

Not even a minute away. It's brilliant

BearSoFair · 15/06/2020 10:22

15 minute walk from DS2's primary.
25 minute total from DD's secondary (10 minute walk, 10 minutes on the bus, 5 minute walk school end).

Hibbetyhob · 15/06/2020 10:26

15 minute walk.

We’re out of catchment - used to live a 4 minute walk away.

Angelonia · 15/06/2020 10:30

One DC at primary school - 20-25 mins drive (after we moved him from the local school), but it's en route to my workplace so takes no extra time.

Two DC at secondary - 15-20 mins drive, they get the bus.

PaquitaVariation · 15/06/2020 10:32

Primary school less than a minute walk. Secondary schools 180 and 130 miles. I’ve saved many hours of driving on primary school runs but have made it up in the secondary years.

Yerroblemom1923 · 15/06/2020 10:33

Half a mile so a ten min walk, we walk in all weathers as the distance doesn't justify the stress and faff of driving/parking - tbh driving would take longer!

vanillandhoney · 15/06/2020 10:34

The primary school is two streets away.
The only secondary is at the end of our road.

drspouse · 15/06/2020 10:43

DD - 0.2 miles apparently, 4 mins walk unless DD is crying that she wants to bring a teddy. When they have sports day we can hear the HT from our house (OK, she does use a PA system but frankly we could probably hear her anyway).
DS - just under a mile, but it's a short stay school so he needs to move to another one. It's up a very steep hill so we don't usually make him walk to school but we walk home if we have time, takes about 20 mins.
We can only find schools that are 5-6 miles away that seem suitable.

bronzedgodesswannabe · 15/06/2020 10:48

I give us 20 minutes but I could do it in 10 but with a slow kid and pram it's deffo more 15/20
And up the most horrible hill ever
I bloody hate it and the best bit about lockdown is the fact I don't have to do it!

bronzedgodesswannabe · 15/06/2020 10:49

If I was ever to move again I would only buy a house which is 5 mins walk max to a school!

AriettyHomily · 15/06/2020 10:51

7 minutes walk exactly, I know this because I have 7 minutes to make my train after drop off.

I am so glad we don't have to drive.

KaTetof19 · 15/06/2020 10:56

10 minute walk to primary school for DD2, 15 minute walk in the other direction to secondary school for DD1.

We pay through the nose to live in this community, but it's worth it while the children are in school.

Chasingsquirrels · 15/06/2020 10:57

About 7 mins walk from the primary in the village which they went to.

Just over 3 miles from the secondary a few villages away, there are school buses. Pick up 8 30am, home at 3.30pm.

About 10ish miles from the 6th form college in the nearest city, public transport taking a minimum of 1.5hrs each way - DS is enjoying not having to leave home at 7am for a 9am start, and instead rolling out of bed at 8.57am and logging on.

TeenPlusTwenties · 15/06/2020 12:18

8 min walk primary.
15 min walk secondary
1hr door to door via college bus

AnneBullen · 15/06/2020 12:24

60 feet!

I leave at 0830 and the children are at school within that minute.

There was an issue with parking over my drive etc a few years ago but the council put some parking restrictions in and enforce them so there are no drawbacks now!

ejecoms · 15/06/2020 12:29

2 metres! There is a dirt track separating our house from school. We sometimes put DD’s toys in her bedroom window so she can wave to them at school!

BlueVinca · 15/06/2020 12:52

We were 10 mins walk from primary school. 30 mins walk from secondary.

LuckyAmy1986 · 15/06/2020 12:54

About 30 seconds walk!
