What are some things you wish you’d done before lockdown?

Mine is citizenship application - everything is going to take forever with it now ceremonies etc are postponed so risk of going beyond Brexit transition period.

Learned to drive I kept putting it off. I am trying again now but still can't get lessons yet.

Spent a load of money on ds at the arcade. It's his favourite thing but I always moaned at the waste of money

Hugged all my friends and my mum!!

42andcounting · 09/06/2020 23:00

Got my eyes retested and bought new glasses. Mine are currently held together with gorilla glue, I can't fold the arm in or it will break off, and I've got rubber bands on the bit behind my ears to stop them slipping off. Classy. Good job my hair is long to hide them a bit.

Insisted on a thyroid retest, I don't think they have my medication level right, but I don't feel quite ill enough yet to risk going in to the surgery.

Had a haircut. I was booked in just before lockdown but then we had to self isolate, so I'm now about four months since my last trim.

I look like a very tired cross between a fraggle and a Benny Hill character Confused

I also wish I'd done more play dates and soft play for my 6yo, never thought I would say that Grin

MrsKCastle · 09/06/2020 23:03

Spent more time with my Dad. Sad

NuffSaidSam · 09/06/2020 23:03

Had everyone's hair cut.

wiltingflower · 09/06/2020 23:04

Visited the dentist

Got my Invisalign treatment started

Bought birthday, anniversary cards (usually buy 3 months in advance and put off a trip to town for this)

Went swimming

wiltingflower · 09/06/2020 23:04

To be clear these are things I wish I did!

wiltingflower · 09/06/2020 23:06

Something I've really learnt from this experience is to do things immediately or the same day if possible or at least arrange plans with a concrete date and time for appointments

Zisforstripyoss · 09/06/2020 23:15

Not cancelled my hair appointment!

Khione · 09/06/2020 23:15

Renew my passport. I really want to book something for the autumn but at the moment they are saying I can't renew it.

Having said that - I am going to ignore the warnings and apply - just as soon as I find my old one. 🤣🤣🤣

BigGlasses · 09/06/2020 23:16

Bought a bigger house! There was a house nearby for sale last year with a swimming pool. Okay it was about 4x our price bracket but how much better would lockdown be with a big house with indoor pool!

BrandyandBabycham · 09/06/2020 23:19

Hugged everyone a lot more
Had a haircut & an eyebrow wax
Spent more time with my friends
Gone shopping ( not for food)
Saved some money as I have ended up not working

CalmYoBadSelf · 09/06/2020 23:19

Celebrated my big birthday. It's too late now and I'll be celebrating theirs with other friend for the rest of the year

shoofly · 09/06/2020 23:20

Wish I hadn't had my eyes tested and paid £450 for glasses, Vision Express couriered them during lockdown and they're not right😞 just have to wait until they're open again.
Wish I had had a dental checkup. I've either got a crack in a tooth or a damaged filling. I'm so fed up with it.

CarlottaValdez · 09/06/2020 23:21

Put DS in private school.

BikeRunSki · 09/06/2020 23:23

Got my eyes tested and got new glasses! I’ve been trying since November and have changed 4 appts due to flooding. Last one was meant to be on 23 March.

SierraHotel · 09/06/2020 23:36

Said to myself "right you're going to be having some time at home, this is the perfect time to lose that stone you've put on" but no, now I have 1.5 stone to lose.
I wish I hadn't cancelled my hair appointment scheduled in the week before lockdown started and I wish I'd got my contraceptive implant removed, I had an appointment for this for 26th March.

Rotationz · 10/06/2020 10:23

Thanks everyone so far. It’s kinda interesting to see how everyone got stuck at different phases in their lives due to lockdown

Had an hair cut and a eyebrow wax.

Book my holiday for February rather than March and not be able to go.

borntohula · 10/06/2020 14:08

Got my hair cut. My appointment was on the day that hair salons shut.

BlindAssassin1 · 10/06/2020 14:17

Bought the new sofa - bloody thing we've got now is falling apart. We dithered too much and didn't get round to it.

However, this also saved us from dropping cash on booking theater tickets and holiday deposits. So many people are waiting to either get their money back or reschedule.

Wish I'd pushed DP into Specsavers though - sick of him squinting at stuff saying, "can you read this for me?"

BearSoFair · 10/06/2020 14:27

Gone to the dentist
Got the tattoo I was planning!

Luckily did get a haircut 2 weeks before lockdown though

Flumb · 10/06/2020 15:49

@Khione

I was the same and just thought I'd go ahead, worst case scenario it would sit waiting to be done for a few months.

Sent it off and had my new one back a week later. Also applied for a first passport for my dd and no sign of that yet, but at least renewals seem to be getting done.

EssentialHummus · 10/06/2020 15:54

Hugged one particular person very hard.

Chrisinthemorning · 10/06/2020 16:15

Bought a hot tub.
Had a hot holiday in February half term.
Otherwise we have managed ok actually.

Shopaholic100 · 10/06/2020 16:19

Bought barbells so I can do body pump online, everywhere is out of stock or charging extortionate prices now.
