Can you be pregnant and have zero symptoms?

Apart from missed periods and positive pregnancy tests, of course. And the pregnancy be viable.

I'm just asking out of interest because anyone I've spoken to before who has claimed not to have had symptoms has later added that they DID actually have sore boobs, but didn't count that as a symptom.

Yes. I even bled for the first two months. My dates were 8 weeks out. DS1 and DS2 (although I guessed DS2’s dates better).

OnceBitten25 · 08/06/2020 13:22

When I was pregnant with DD I had no symptoms. Was actively trying to conceive so tested as soon as I missed my period. Never had any symptoms but suffered with carpal tunnel and crazy swollen ankles in late stages.

Angelonia · 08/06/2020 13:24

How many weeks are you OP? I had nausea, but it didn't start until I was a few weeks pregnant. I didn't get sore boobs.

With DS1, the only thing I had that could have been called a pregnancy symptom (other than the missed period and positive test) was being more tired than usual.

And the tiredness could have easily been explained by being busy at work etc if I’d had no reason to suspect pregnancy.

Other than that, no symptoms until he’d grown big enough for me to feel movements.

borntohula · 08/06/2020 13:28

Yeah, I would say they're the lucky ones but I know that physical symptoms are reassuring.

AintOverUntilTheCatLadySings · 08/06/2020 13:31

Massive shoutout to my slow internet connection that's posted this twice.... (will get the other deleted).

I'm anywhere between 5 and 8 weeks (normally very regular periods went a bit weird in lockdown). I'm guessing 6.5ish.

I'm getting scanned at the EPU tomorrow because I've had 4mcs, so have just assumed this pregnancy is non viable as not even a hint of sore boobs.

Know every pregnancy is different etc and not asking to give myself hope for tomorrow but rather out of genuine interest as so many kind people have said to me 'I didn't have any symptoms up until week 8 apart from sore boobs, nausea and sickness' Grin

Good luck tomorrow OP!

MangoM · 08/06/2020 13:39

I didn't have any symptoms during my entire pregnancy. Apart from feeling tired, which didn't really kick in until I started to get really heavy, so that's expected. I didn't even get any of the 'fun' cravings that everyone loves to talk about - and no one would believe me.

It's worrying when people are constantly talking about pregnancy symptoms but you can have a viable pregnancy without any of them.

Keeping everything crossed for you for your scan tomorrow.

pumpkinpie01 · 08/06/2020 13:39

With my last pregnancy I went for an early scan ( history of miscarriage) at 7 weeks I had no symptoms at all. I fully expected to have miscarried again and was so shocked to see a little heart beat . Symptoms started 2 weeks later.

MulticolourMophead · 08/06/2020 13:48

It's possible, there's a thread on here where the OP has just found out she's pregnant and she's months along: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/_chat/3925756-It-wasn-t-wind-it-was-a-baby

MulticolourMophead · 08/06/2020 13:51

I also meant to post that although my periods stopped pretty much immediately for both my pregnancies, I didn't get any other symptoms until the 3 month point. No sore boobs, no nausea, no sickness.... Just hellish heartburn that kicked in around 3 months.

IndiaMay · 08/06/2020 13:52

My mum has had 3 babies and never had symptoms other than a missed period and being very tired.

FatalSecrets · 08/06/2020 13:54

I had zero symptoms with DD.

Clutterbugsmum · 08/06/2020 13:55

Yes.

3 times I tested to prove to mum that I wasn't pregnant, guess which one of us was right Grin.

DD1 was 15 weeks pregnant when I found out
DD2 was 11 weeks when I found out
DS was 13 weeks when I found out.

The system I had was very tired.

Clutterbugsmum · 08/06/2020 13:56

Oh and I had a irregular cycle so couldn't even tell you if I had missed a period.

Mintjulia · 08/06/2020 13:56

I got to 14 weeks and only went to the doc because I was very tired and thought my thyroid was out of kilter.

But I hadn’t had reliable periods for years so I have an excuse Smile

Dontforgetyourbrolly · 08/06/2020 13:59

I didn't have any traditional symptoms like sore boobs or morning sickness, but I do remember getting headaches, which may or may not have been related!

DobbyTheHouseElk · 08/06/2020 13:59

Well yes, a friend of mine didn’t know she was expecting until she went to the loo in the night with what she thought was an upset tummy and out fell a baby into the loo.

She was teeny and I worked with her everyday and she had no symptoms and no bump. It was so very surreal when she didn’t come to work as she’d had a baby in the night!

Was on the injection contraception method and had been told her periods would stop due to it.

grey12 · 08/06/2020 14:04

Don't remembered sore breasts with DD1. More with subsequent pregnancies.

Main symptoms in the first half were tiredness (LOADS!!!) and feeling sick if I didn't eat regularly. A friend, pregnant at the same time, had the same. I had to carry food with me all the time. I get nauseous, dizzy, feel like throwing up and it all means I'm just hungry Hmm

SunbathingDragon · 08/06/2020 14:06

I’ve never had morning sickness regardless of whether I’ve had a miscarriage or not and I’ve been able to lie flat on my front up until the day I’ve given birth because I’ve never had any breast tenderness at all.

I do get some round ligament pain very early but I think you need to have been pregnant to recognise it for what it is so could easily be assumed to be something else.

RandomMess · 08/06/2020 14:11

None at all with my first I only knew I was pregnant because I took the MAP and nothing happened, didn't feel ill etc so took a pregnancy test...

Didn't have a bump for months and months either.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 08/06/2020 14:12

I had zero symptoms, I only found out when my period didn't come. I had just turned 22 and definitely wasn't trying for a baby, I'd still been going out drinking and clubbing. Definitely no sore boobs.

I did get morning sickness but not until the second trimester, at about 14 weeks.

Ingridla · 08/06/2020 14:23

I had no idea for 9 weeks, then a couple of strange sickness episodes prompted my brother to jokingly ask if it was possible!

rescuecat · 08/06/2020 14:27

Yes, two times. Hope all goes well tomorrow.

AintOverUntilTheCatLadySings · 08/06/2020 14:37

Thank you. Maybe it's not such a lost cause then. I'd actually just written this pregnancy off and have assumed I'm not pregnant tbh.
