Funny self pampering sesh ended up in A&E

TMI here for some people so beware !

So one for the ladies, have you taken it upon yourself to do your own pampering due to not being able to go to the beautician during lockdown? tell me your funny stories!

Here’s mine.

So, my moustache, bikini line and eyebrows were going out of control so I decided to get myself some wax strips and do it myself, how hard can it be?!

Eyebrows = tick
Moustache = tick
Chin = tick
Bikini = Little bit more daring, so I did the top part, all fine, went underneath, stuck it on but it went inside a bit, I thought, ouch, ah, it’ll be fine, ripped the strip off and split my bloody noony open, next thing, I’ve got blood pouring down my flaming leg so, I had to go, embarrassingly, to A&E and see a Dr, who then brought another Dr in as they’d never seen anything like it (I’m sure they were having a good laugh) and had to have it glued back together with skin glue, never in my life have I been so embarrassed and never again will I try to do it myself

Hahahaaaa I am crying!! Only because it happened to me too. My DH was in on the act though and thought he had ripped my labia off. Lol luckily I didnt go to the hospital as applying pressure to the area stopped the blood. My DH was white!! Sorry OP, but I'm glad its not just me!!!

Ouch. I normally go to a salon for a bikini wax, I'm definitely not brave enough to try it at home (especially after reading this).
Although, I'm getting good at doing my eyebrows now

A friend of mine is an A&E nurse, she had to treat a lady who badly tore her labia majora when she tried waxing her bikini line herself. She had to be stitched up. Ouch.

Put me off ever trying any kind of waxing down there forever.

What you need is a Lumea.

Did this 25 years ago while backpacking in Oz. Truly painful and took ages to heal. Put me off waxing for a long time and never ever tried to do a diy job since.

Not in the same league - but i'm a bit of a bugger for being very concerned about keeping my feet smooth and soft. During summer i will sometimes give them a quick file morning and evening ...

So .... this one time i over did it upstairs in the loft conversion. We had bare board stairs and seemingly i'd managed to finally file every bit of traction off the bottoms of my feet because i stepped onto them and slipped straight onto my arse and went off down the stairs in a sitting position bashing my bum and lower back all the way. I also bought a mirror down off the wall with me. A full length mirror which was on the turn of the stairs. I knocked it off the wall and it smashed and I continued my slide/fall round the corner of the stairs and carried on till i arrived at the bottom surrounded in broken glass.

I had hollered all the way down, and my DH and my 3 kids heard the racket and all fought to get up the (downstairs) stairs at the same time to help me. Like a sort of 6 legged animal. Which would have been an amusing sight if i hadn't been in such pain.

Have i learned my lesson? No. I still file my feet all the time

DH + 3 kids is an 8 legged animal isn't it, actually.

OP--ouch! I tried waxing there once but chickened out after the first pull.

A friend of Dsis once decided to tidy up with scissors and sliced open her labia. Ended up with stitches. A week later she sat on her straighteners which she'd placed on a stool to heat up. Back to A&E and the same doctor. She's never lived it down!

Why, why, why does anyone wax their bikini line?? It is so painful.
I gave up after a few years as I just thought life is too short to endure this shit.
Use cream, shave it daily, buy a lumea.... but waxing, no. Not for me.

I just bought a laser hair removal thingy from QVC UK with two months to test at home. If it doesn’t work for me it will be going back but well worth giving it a go. Defo better than A&E that’s brutal. Hope it’s not hurting too much OP, you poor thing, shudder

Did you have to tell the receptionist on arrival what your problem was??
I always hate the fact the entire waiting room is silent and everyone knows chy your there.

I did it once and bruised like mad. I don’t bruise easily but I ended up with 2 completely black patches that looked worse than wayward pubes.

The problem with epilators is when you reach the labia...

A friend of mine snipped off part of her labia while trimming the bush. She sent me a photo of it 😫
