TMI here for some people so beware !

So one for the ladies, have you taken it upon yourself to do your own pampering due to not being able to go to the beautician during lockdown? tell me your funny stories!

Here’s mine.

So, my moustache, bikini line and eyebrows were going out of control so I decided to get myself some wax strips and do it myself, how hard can it be?!

Eyebrows = tick
Moustache = tick
Chin = tick
Bikini = Little bit more daring, so I did the top part, all fine, went underneath, stuck it on but it went inside a bit, I thought, ouch, ah, it’ll be fine, ripped the strip off and split my bloody noony open, next thing, I’ve got blood pouring down my flaming leg Shock so, I had to go, embarrassingly, to A&E and see a Dr, who then brought another Dr in as they’d never seen anything like it (I’m sure they were having a good laugh) and had to have it glued back together with skin glue, never in my life have I been so embarrassed and never again will I try to do it myself Blush

I’ve snipped down there more times than I care to admit.

EnoughAlready2020 · 08/06/2020 01:01

Omfg

I was genuinely contemplating doing the same thing.

Thank you for saving me from your experience 😂😂

When you say 'buy a lumen', aren't they about £400?

I had a friend who, when having a quick tidy up with the nail scissors, snipped her clitoris. She said it bled like hell and was exquisitely painful. The very thought makes my foof turn in on itself.

managedmis · 08/06/2020 01:26

Pic or it didn't happen

Ouch OP- I’ve given myself a wax burn on my upper lip before which was ridiculously painful so I can’t even begin to imagine how much more painful your errrm..injury... is!

In my younger days before I started getting waxed I was seriously fed up of razor burn and had something of a love interest visiting me that night, so I decided to try some imac cream. Obviously it quite clearly states on the package NOT to get it anywhere internal but my application skills were sloppy to say the least. I ended up with the most searing burning pain I think I’ve ever felt and my whole vulva swelled up so much I thought it was going to close permanently!

Intimate areas are really best left to the professionals

bumbleb33s · 08/06/2020 05:15

@chocolatepudandchocolatesauce ... oh god, you feel my pain then too Grin

@Laiste I’ll bear that in mind, I’m a filer too, 😬

@sparkli 😂

@MrsTannyFickler something like that 😬

@CherrySpritz Jesus that’s made me cringe

@MistyMinge2 piss right off 😂

@Lifeaback definitely leaving it to the professionals from now on

Thanks everyone for your stories, glad it’s not just me

The Lumea is expensive, there’s no denying it. But if you can stretch to it, well worth the money. I bought mine in the BF sales.

Game changer.

YouDirtyMare · 08/06/2020 10:19

Reading this thread is making me sweat

borntohula · 08/06/2020 10:48

Oooh ouch!

purrswhileheeats · 08/06/2020 11:03

Reminds me of There's Something About Mary...

'WE GOT A BLEEDER!!!!' 😂

mamasiz · 08/06/2020 11:07

Jesus. Hope you feel better soon! This is exactly why I will never wax down there. Not until men are routinely waxing their balls anyway!

Windyatthebeach · 08/06/2020 11:07

Once used Immac on dh's balls at his request. Left it on too long and the skin had all burned bright red ...
He walked strangely for quite a while!!.
Now exh and it makes me smile now!!

ActuallyItsEugene · 08/06/2020 11:13

@Laiste I'm so sorry but I am crying at your story. I can imagine the pain - but your description? Made my day.

My friend actually gave herself something of a clitorectomy by tidying up the garden of Eden with some nail scissors.

She had to sit on a doughnut and pee with a jug of warm water for quiet a while.
I went to see her and was reminiscing about how that was exactly how I was after labour - she's was 14 weeks pregnant; pretty sure if she could have got up off the doughnut she'd have hit me Grin

CorianderLord · 08/06/2020 11:20

Never went to hospital but when I was 16 I tried was strips on my lady garden too. I ripped the skin off and it wept and bled for weeks. Horrendous

NotanotherboxofFrogs · 08/06/2020 12:06

I feel your pain op and here is my story. I should add that I don't have feeling in my whole saddle area, completely numb due to a neurological condition.

My very first experience with waxing I went to a local beauty school and the beauty therapist was supervised and I decided on a Hollywood. I'd never waxed anywhere before this so I had no base line of what was normal to go on. Wax was fine and I went from the salon to work, it was a 9am appointment, was home early that evening to catch up on paperwork but decided to go down to the local shop first before I started working.

What I didn't know was a piece of wax had dripped internally that morning (remember I don't have feeling) and chose my walk to dislodge and take a lump of pv lining with it, I started to bleed v heavily, in less than 100m my jeans were destroyed beyond saving with a trail behind me, I bleed on the hall floor and hadn't worked out yet what was causing this, I soaked bath towels in less than 10 mins and destroyed the carpet.

I had no pain whatsoever but was losing blood rapidly after an hour with no signs of slowing down I reluctantly called an ambulance as I was getting close to passing out, I was fast tracked thro a+e.

Long story short it took another 9 hours to get the bleeding under control and 3 pints of blood to replace my loss, along with 12 internal stitches to try and seal the bleeding.

I did wax again for many years after which was uneventful and I never went back to the training school, currently embracing the bush. So while I am glad that it was pain free, I wouldn't attempt to diy it.

bumbleb33s · 08/06/2020 12:24

@Notanotherbox ... omg that sounds horrendous, poor you :(

some awful stories here .. eek

TheSecondMrsAshwell · 08/06/2020 12:56

My aromatherapist told me a story about one of her colleagues in the beauty salon she used to work in. This woman decided that she wanted to have a go at sugaring. One of the other therapists said she'd do it for her, but the lady said no, she could manage, she knew what she was doing.

A few minutes later, there was an ear splitting scream and when everyone ran to the room, they found out that the woman didn;t have a clue what she was doing and, instead of smearing a thin layer on, she had poured the sugaring directly onto the top of her thigh/foof.

ilikefrys · 08/06/2020 13:05

@NotanotherboxofFrogs oh god that's awful, you poor thing.

I haven't had any bikini line issues as weirdly enough I don't have hair there.

However I am a beauty therapist and trained many years ago. Underarms are an absolute fucker. Once you have waxed an area you can't go over it again or you risk breaking the skin. I had someone practice on my armpits who couldn't get the wax off. I ended up with most of the skin removed and blood pouring down my arm. I've never waxed any part of myself since.

Am considering a Lumea myself!

polkadotpjs · 08/06/2020 13:19

Oh my actual word. Bleurgh!!!! I bought some wax to do mine, but I'm going to embrace the 70s look instead I think. I only usually get waxed for ease when swimming! Jesus, can only imagine the pain

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 08/06/2020 13:27
Myhouse173 · 08/06/2020 13:34

Yep, keeping the bush forever now 👍

Ninkanink · 08/06/2020 13:37

I’ve spent my whole life rocking a fulsome bush (with the odd shave here and there) and I gotta say, it has a lot of advantages. If it weren’t for the Lumea I’d definitely still be rocking it. I imagine I’ll go back to natural at some point.
