Sandals similar to Birkenstocks, any recommendations?

I've had a pair of sandals for about 10 years and they've finally given up the ghost. They were super cheap from the kids section in a Next sale. They're very similar in appearance to Birkenstock Milano's and I guess must have been pretty good quality as they lasted so long! I can't afford actual Birkenstocks, so can anyone recommend some leather buckle sandals with a back strap and a moulded cork footbed that are more affordable? I'll add a photo of some Milano's for context. Thank you! Flowers

I’ve just bought a pair of these - they’re like walking on cushions. Feel very sturdy but can’t contest to longevity, hoping they last a while because I love them!

I buy Carla Verde sandals. Just Google, plenty of styles, comfortable, good quality.

Salt Water sandals.

Boden does similar styles at the moment too.

Try schuh imperfects or office offcuts for Birkenstock’s. I just got some for 35 as one of them had been tried on in store

I love Mephisto ‘Helen’, but they’re hard to get hold of now. I find them much more comfortable than Birkies.

Moshulu

Schuh's own versions similar to Birkenstocks

Amazon sometimes has deals on these

I’ve got some by earth spirit that are just so comfortable with soft moulded soles. I can’t wear flat stiff leather soles like the saltwater ones because they make my back ache but the earth spirit have been great.

There was a similar thread recently with a couple of great suggestions. If only I could find it.

HattieMid2 · 07/06/2020 21:00

So random but I actually got a pair very similar in Aldi middle aisle last summer! About seven quid. I've got actual Birkenstock's too and these aren't far off! Very similar and comfy.

WordInYourShellLike · 07/06/2020 21:42

Thanks for the suggestions everyone! Ah Hattie - the legendary Aldi middle isle! I've had some lovely sheepskin slippers from there before now Smile
Some of the sandals mentioned I really like, but still out of my budget unfortunately. To be honest, I suppose I need to find something for no more than £30, times being hard at the moment... I did wonder if some of the supermarkets might have something suitable and I have seen the odd pair of Birki lookalikes but always with no back strap (or a toe post which doesn't work for me) and I'm determined to have a back strap for doing long walks! I do have a pair of second hand Birki flip flops which I love and have lasted me a long time already but they're not great for walking long distances. Anyone spotted a budget pair in a supermarket or cheap outlet?

Thanks for these suggestions Ohmymg I didn't find anything this time but it's good to know about these sites - I hadn't heard of them before. Will be keeping an eye on what they have in future!

Another for moshulu. I’m lucky enough to live near a shop (when it’s open!!) and as a result I have about 5 pairs of their footbed sandals. They just don’t wear out either - my oldest pair is 8 years old and still look like new.

Thanks Endof
I did get quite excited when I saw the £14.99 ones until I found they were the kid's Spiderman version! Grin
Bit of a price leap to the next ones on the list at over £40 sadly.
I do appreciate all the suggestions though, sorry for being such an awkward customer!

Maybe I'm too fixated on a back strap? What do you think? Is it actually fine to go for long walks, maybe on rough tracks, in something like this? Which I absolutely love and am very tempted by, although still a bit pricey...

From size 6
www.shoezone.com/Products/Hobos-Mens-Brown-Contrast-Easy-Fasten-Sandal-59441 And under £20

Or if you can fit into children’s sizes 5 and under then mandmdirect have lots of children birkies for under £30 but they do tend to be Spider-Man or other character shoes.

Monki

Proudboomer · 07/06/2020 23:35

For walking you need a back strap. Have you looked at any proper walking sandals like

I have a fat face pair that I’ve had for a couple of years and are great. Got them in the sale.

copperoliver · 07/06/2020 23:57

EBay do second hand Birkenstock's and sometimes they still look new, if you look around. X
