If you could eat in any restaurant right now...

Where would it be and what would you have?
No worries about Lockdown and social distancing, or budget!
I would go to Miller and Carter and have the biggest steak I could buy, although would also be tempted with a KFC too...

A local pub that does pretty good food, good beer and sometimes really good live music.

Or a cafe I go to that does the best bacon sandwiches.

Or a noodle bar.

Hawksmoor was the best steak I'd ever had.

Fish and chips on the beach.

Or, given the weather, any pub with good beer and a fire place.

Actually, anything that means it's not me bloody making the menu and sourcing the food.

I'd be happy with a Nando's right now for my usual medium peri peri butterfly chicken breasts with macho peas & garlic bread please! And refillable Coke Zero.

La Bistro Pierre Harrogate

Our holiday local in Tenerife, fabulous bar/restaurant. We’ve been visiting at least twice a year for the last 9 years. Missed out in April and July is looking unlikely. To sit in the sun with a jug of sangria and enjoy their squid and paella. Dd is totally spoilt by the staff and the toffee vodka liquor is fab.
Closer to home our village pub that had new management just before lockdown and will hopefully arise from the ashes and become a feature in the community. A local bake house/cafe who make amazing cakes and their daily specials are beautiful. Local bistro, which whilst expensive is great value at lunch and finally our local Indian where we have been customers for 20 years plus, they have just reopened for delivery and takeaway and we are having dinner tonight from there.
Eating out will be limited however as I’m out of work so need to make every penny count.

The best Indian meal was in Santa Fe, New Mexico - yum! I'd love to go back there.

Bella Italia. Garlic pizza bread, margarita pizza, and cookie dough al forno. I've never had all of them in one go because that's about 2000 calories in one sitting but I'm desperate!

Michelin star restaurant anywhere. Berlin, Krakow, Dubrovnik. I want things I can't cook, that I don't even know the names of. I want to be impressed. Fillet of ..... tartare..... bisque. Yum.

Roselilly36 · 06/06/2020 18:21

Restaurant at the top of the CN Tower in Toronto, most special meals ever.

squashyhat · 06/06/2020 18:27

Either Rocksalt in Folkestone for (semi) local, or a place in rural Provence I can't remember the name of we were taken to by friends who knew the area. No choice - one delicious rabbit casserole on the menu, drinking local rose and listening to nightingales singing across the valley. Absolutely magical.

The Shed in Seaton! Our family's favourite

BubblesBuddy · 06/06/2020 18:31

Artichoke in Old Amersham, Bucks followed by Restaurant Nathan Outlaw in Port Isaac, Cornwall, followed by L’Enclume in Cartmel, Cumbria. Then Gilbeys in Old Amersham.

HerRoyalNotness · 06/06/2020 18:35

Duck n Bao for pecking duck and soup dumplings. Sadly they closed during lockdown. There is another one in a town 30mins away but they had a cockroach infestation which seems to be a problem with the building no matter the restaurant that goes in, that puts me off a little.

chunkyrun · 06/06/2020 18:35

What I would give to go to theatre street steak and grill bar

OculusThrift · 06/06/2020 18:36

Tomahawk Steakhouse for a massive steak and chips and as many cocktails I can down while eating. Followed by cheesecake.

amillionnamechangeslater000 · 06/06/2020 18:37

Right this second a Gastropub that I like down in Kent - can imagine being near the fire, red meat and red wine.

RhinestoneCowgirl · 06/06/2020 18:40

For a family meal, our local neighbourhood restaurant called The Lockup. Small menu, amazing cooking, cosy and run by nice people.

For me on my own, a quick bowl of noodles at Wagamamas, after a mooch around town (including a bookshop and an art shop)

trappedsincesundaymorn · 06/06/2020 18:47

The Rubbing House at Epsom
The Rice Bowl, Manchester
The Beach Shack, Stanwell Park NSW Australia.

I should be on a dream long longed for holiday in Turkey right now and we'd be having our first dinner just about now....

... I've long wanted to try a Turkish restaurant near us (but kids blah blah blah) so there. Hope they do a mezze

Northernsoullover · 06/06/2020 19:23

Ayos for Paella in Nerja. I'd happily eat a Miller and Carter steak too.

DrCoconut · 06/06/2020 19:28

Antonios in Lyme Regis. Assuming it's still there, haven't been for a couple of years now.

Picalilliandcheese · 06/06/2020 19:48

For breakfast, a really nice place in Liverpool where you have to not eat all day to have enough room to eat it.

For dinner, the pub on Newmarket road in Cambridge for a thai green chicken curry.

EssentialHummus · 06/06/2020 19:49

Another one for Sheekey's. I want to sit at the bar, people-watch, drink fuckloads of champagne and eat loads of oysters.
