What do you do once the kids are in bed?

what do you usually so once your children are asleep? I usually find myself tidying up and doing the housework bits I didn't manage during the day. Just wondering what everyone else gets up to?

Go to bed myself. They are hard work and by the time they finally go to bed I'm shattered.

HuggyBuggy · 24/05/2020 18:30

Dick around on MumsNet and Facebook for way too long. Watch Netflix in bed. Very little that's in any way useful or productive.

SomeoneElseEntirelyNow · 24/05/2020 18:33

Pour a large glass of wine and have an actual conversation with my husband, and maybe even have sex, if I'm lucky. Take time to cook a fancy dinner every once in a while, watch Netflix, these days the odd Zoom pub quiz.

Work. I usually open up the laptop and work for a few hours.

LittlePesto · 24/05/2020 18:35

One of us walks the dog and the other clears up all the debris of the day. That takes us to about 9pm then we hang about together and watch tv, or do our own thing in different rooms or have a few drinks and listen to music or sit and stare at our phones happily ignoring each other one of us offers tea and chocolate. And we're only 30 Confused

Knobblybobbly · 24/05/2020 18:36

I water the garden and then go to bed. About once a week I will also have the energy to watch TV, but often have to switch the telly off midway through the programme as I’m falling asleep!!

TweeterandtheMonkeyman · 24/05/2020 18:38

Drink, cook/ eat nice food, play music & chat or watch a film, sex😄 I feel mine must be a bit older than yours OP as I get housework/ chores done during the day. Also DH and I both furloughed.

TwoZeroTwoZero · 24/05/2020 18:39

Have tea, watch TV and fall asleep on the settee

Heismyopendoor · 24/05/2020 18:41

I go to sleep 😂 kids head to bed about 9ish atm and I get to bed whilst dh puts them to sleep. I’m up at 5.45 most mornings so I need my beauty sleep.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 24/05/2020 18:42

Do the odd bit of housework and watch TV mostly.

SqidgeBum · 24/05/2020 18:47

Clean up the playroom, do the dishes, water the plants, then binge netflix with both of us on our phones and/or I crochet.

We are 28 Confused . Living the high life.

hiptobeasquare · 24/05/2020 18:51

Every night I have to clean up to some degree. Before we go to sleep one of us will load the dish washer and wipe the benches and table down. Sometimes eat tea depending if we have had something with the kids or not. Watch Netflix. Play on my Switch. Play a board game like Jaipur or Carcassone. Read. Have sex. Have a long bath. Stuff like that.

AnneLovesGilbert · 24/05/2020 18:51

Tidy that kitchen, cook or bake, watch tv, talk about our days, have sex, chat to friends, chat to my sister who lives abroad with a huge time difference, bath, do maintenance like epilating, read, watch tv.

Not all the same night.

vampirethriller · 24/05/2020 19:26

Watch things I can't watch with the toddler and tit about on Facebook and here. Eat the chocolate I hide from the toddler.

BeBesideTheSea · 24/05/2020 19:28

Slump on the sofa

Babypug · 24/05/2020 19:30

We cook dinner together, watch tv, walk the dog, tidy up and then head upstairs when we're ready go upstairs together. Our kids are 1 and 2.5 and we treasure our quality time together. Kids shouldn't change your relationship - you were a partnership before kids and should make the time to keep it special.

june2007 · 24/05/2020 19:32

Depends on time, Watch TV, REad have a drink. Clean up, get things ready for work/school. Spend time with husband,

Yellredder · 24/05/2020 19:33

I go to bed the same time as my daughter - or is it the other way round?

Spied · 24/05/2020 19:37

Watch TV for an hour then bed.
Dc 10&9 they've been going to bed 9:30/10
so I've not long to myself as I like to be in bed by 11ish.

Quackersandcheese3 · 24/05/2020 19:44

I usually do some housework, 30-45 mins max. Text/ chat with some friends, reply to messages or prick about on Facebook . Spend time with husband. Watch tv. Read my book. Exercise. Nothing exciting.

Badassmama · 24/05/2020 19:45

Sit! 😂

TheSheepofWallSt · 24/05/2020 19:49

Work- usually a couple of hours a night (work compressed hours but it’s a senior role, and usually needs about 50 hrs a week).

Housework. Usually an hour a night on laundry/ cleaning/ batch cooking.

Might find an hour for tv on weekend nights.

Don’t get enough sleep and permanently knackered.

SuperPixie247 · 24/05/2020 19:50

My DS is only 4 so goes to bed around 7.30pm. My DP tends to cook dinner to eat around 8.30 - 9pm and usually watch some TV. We do try to have 2 TV-free nights a week where we will listen to music and chat or read a book.

@badassmama sitting isnt a bad idea 😂

lozengeoflove · 24/05/2020 19:50

Collapse in a heap.

JuneJuly · 24/05/2020 22:46

DH & I settle with a cuppa to watch a film or an episode of something, depending on how tired we feel.
