Talking of other stuff than COVID...what’s the best biscuit you have eaten?

We don’t buy biscuits in out house but thought I’ll add some to my next g try overt list. When I looked at the options in the supermarket nothing was really appealing. Is there no company which makes nice biscuits without loading it full of sugar and palm oil?

Fig rolls. Wish I could find some gluten free ones. I miss them.

BettyCarver · 22/05/2020 09:05

@Drysnitchinsbitchin I’m hankering after a mint YoYo biscuit now. Anyone remember Echo bars? They were lush too

haba · 22/05/2020 09:27

I remember Romany biscuits!
Also, maybe one of you biscuit connoisseurs could tell me- Morning Coffee biscuits... did they taste the same as Rich Tea, or did they taste different?
You don't seem to be able to get those any more.
@Pinkarsedfly there are GF chocolate Hobnobs at Sainsbury's but they do have palm oil in

And does anyone remember ?Marie biscuits? They were round with little bobbles on (like a romany) but plain like rich tea??

BruceAndNosh · 22/05/2020 09:33

Another vote here for Bahlsen Chocco Leibnitz.
I assume everyone nibbles the chocolate off round the edges first?

nowaitaminute · 22/05/2020 09:34

TIM TAMS all the way!!!

MrsMGE · 22/05/2020 09:38

Orange marmalade Digestives
Biscoff
Asda own salted caramel cookies (I know they're technically cookies, but seriously they are out of this world)

MrsMGE · 22/05/2020 09:40

And anything from M&S - their selection boxes are a delight!

Jocasta2018 · 22/05/2020 09:54

Rich Tea biscuits - but only if they've been dunked in tea for exactly the correct amount of time (ie have made it onto my mouth without collapsing)!

Waitrose do some excellent dark chocolate chip cookies.

@Honkyponk

I just woke my child up because I was laughing so hard at that video.

These. Some argument they're a chocolate bar rather than a biscuit, but you get them from the biscuit section of the supermarket so I think they count! Soooo good!!

Dozer · 22/05/2020 10:05

Bought: Garibaldi or “chocolate olivers”.

Home made: back in the 80s a family friend’s ground almond thins, with flakes of toasted almond on top. Melted in mouth, buttery and syrupy. She died before was old enough to seek the recipe and though have tried have never been able to emulate them Sad

Also home made: many different types of biscuit baked by families of the bride and groom, at an afternoon tea at a Swedish friend’s wedding. Little hazlenut ones, with tea or muscato (?) wine. Mmmmm.

Grapesoda7 · 22/05/2020 10:15

I think sainsburys has stopped putting palm oil in its products (I may be wrong though).

I've recently discovered those round caramel between two wafer things that you can put on top of your coffee cup to warm. They're gorgeous!

In America I tried carrot cake Oreos, I wish they'd bring them out in the UK

JessicaDay · 22/05/2020 10:22

Tesco gluten free white chocolate and salted caramel cookies. They’re soft cookies that come in a tub. Mmm. I eat them with macadamias.

Blingismything · 22/05/2020 10:22

Chocolate and hazelnut Boasters were the best.

H1978 · 22/05/2020 10:34

Biscuits are my nemesis so I try to avoid them but recently discovered Tesco Finest Sticky Toffee Cookies 😋

H1978 · 22/05/2020 10:35

Or yes and the Leibniz chocolate orange ones Grin

CatBatCat · 22/05/2020 10:45

Foxes Jaffa Shortcakes, the fuckers went ahead an discontinued them didn't they. M&S have something similar but they're not as good as the Foxes.

BalloonSlayer · 22/05/2020 11:08

@honkyponk I don't even like discount biscuits but I have laughed so much now I want one. Delicious minty biscuits. Crunchy! Chocolate! Orange ones aren't so nice! Ha ha ha hhaaaa

MyNameWas · 22/05/2020 11:21

@honkyponk I’m going to look for these amazing minty biscuits...I simply have to!

Wow you waited a whole minute for a reply

Shannith · 22/05/2020 11:29

M&S extremely choclatey round biscuits. 65% no palm oil thick chocolate, 35% biscuit.

The are perfect.

Also every biscuit made by the amazing dining staff at DD's school. They are all incredible, so much variety and are the best thing about parent assemblies/concerts/sports days.

ChocolatelyAsFuck · 22/05/2020 17:51

Shamelessly stealing my new username from PastramiNoRye Grin

Onesmallstepforaman · 22/05/2020 18:03

Kimberley creams or Mikado. Both from Ireland in my childhood, dunno if still available

haba · 22/05/2020 19:00

Anyone else reading "Kimberley Creams" in Victoria Wood's voice? Smile
