Talking of other stuff than COVID...what’s the best biscuit you have eaten?

We don’t buy biscuits in out house but thought I’ll add some to my next g try overt list. When I looked at the options in the supermarket nothing was really appealing. Is there no company which makes nice biscuits without loading it full of sugar and palm oil?

Shouldn't really ask as on a diet but where @TheSmallAssassin where are rhubarb and custard creams from?

DuesToTheDirt · 21/05/2020 23:31

Just looked up Borders ingredients, includes sustainable palm oil.

Inituntiltheend · 21/05/2020 23:32

Fav biscuits - choc digestives, choc hobnobs, gold bars or white twixs !

Sorry I didn’t realIse about the limits. How about fig rolls? Or ginger nuts?

Redcrayons · 21/05/2020 23:34

Choco liebnitz are my favourites. I don’t but them because I could quite easily scoff the box.
Bourbons are my everyday favourites.

To be honest I rarely come across a biscuit I don’t like.

TheSmallAssassin · 21/05/2020 23:34

@whoami24 @MyNameWas they're Tesco's own brand - a lockdown discovery! I usually shop on Saino's, but Tesco had more click and collect slots.

TheSmallAssassin · 21/05/2020 23:37

(and only 65kCals a biscuit @whoami24 😁)

Not a biscuit eater. Not much of a sweet tooth.

Was given a Tin of fortnum and mason Christmas salted caramel oat biscuits.
They were so good I can still remember exactly how they tasted, Have looked for them since. Best by far I have ever had.

haba · 21/05/2020 23:41

These suggestions almost universally have palm oil in.
McVities Rich tea (the round ones, not the fingers) have no palm oil.
Waitrose cookies probably don't (haven't checked the ingredients recently).
Fig rolls, custard creams, gingernuts, hobnobs, digestives etc all do, all brands in supermarkets.
Iceland said they were taking palm oil out of own brand stuff... so now they don't sell own brand biscuits any more! Hmm

haba · 21/05/2020 23:42

The bahlsen biscuits often don't have palm oil.

Drysnitchinsbitchin · 21/05/2020 23:43

Can you still get YoYo's, and are they classed as a biscuit?

Bellag79 · 22/05/2020 00:03

@Honkyponk - That is just brilliant, I had a proper giggle. 🤣

Willow4987 · 22/05/2020 00:35

This is making me want all the biscuits

AgadorSpartacus · 22/05/2020 00:47

Gluten free food on the whole is pretty dire however Tesco finest do a double Belgian chocolate cookie the is hands down THE best gf food I’ve ever eaten and shits on quite a few Non gf biscuits too (that I can recall from the dim and distant pre diagnosis Sad

SpooniesAreGo · 22/05/2020 01:28

Aldi briefly did a GF triple chocolate cookie which was the most incredible biscuit I have ever tasted. They were so light, they remain the only biscuit I could eat half a packet of and not feel sick.

Fenlandmountainrescue · 22/05/2020 01:34

Rich tea. Perfect.

drigon · 22/05/2020 01:41

My favourites are a Welsh dark chocolate waffle with caramel inside; extremely tasty and wicked! Less indulgent: a Borders oaty crunch or similar. There used to be delicious ones called Brontë oat biscuits or something when I was young which I adored and the Borders are very similar.

Pinkarsedfly · 22/05/2020 02:05

Gluten free chocolate HobNobs are fantastic.

Sadly I haven’t seen them for ages.

ParkheadParadise · 22/05/2020 02:17

I bloody love biscuits have no idea about the ingredients
Choc chip cookies
Jammie Dodgers
Jaffa cakes
Twix
Choc mini rolls
Ginger snaps
Choc Digestives
Pink wafers
I could go on and on with what's in my cupboards

ultrababy · 22/05/2020 06:51

@omgshoes I'm so glad someone remembers Romany biscuits. They were delicious. It's like one minute they were there and next they were gone. Maybe that's for the best though.

Custard creams, they really are so good that I had to stop buying them. I can not eat one or two, it's the whole packet or nothing (I don't even have a sweet tooth but these are my kryptonite).

AlwaysCheddar · 22/05/2020 07:20

M&S sultana butter biscuits

Duchy shortbread from Waitrose

Dark choc digestives by mcvities - with tea!

CoolShoeshine · 22/05/2020 09:01

I bloody love a viscount although they seem relatively small now compared to when I was a child (I’m sure it’s because me and my appetite are much larger now!)
I also love the biscuits you get on holiday and can get over here if you hunt them out - taste similar to two rich tea biscuits with chocolate cream sandwiched in between- yum!
