? If you over coked it a bit ?

Horehound · 13/05/2020 16:39

Yes and I wouldn't even overcook it 🤷

FloatingAlien · 13/05/2020 16:42

Yes and I wouldn't overcook it either

BuffaloCauliflower · 13/05/2020 16:43

Yep and no need to over cook, which would only serve to make it less nice to eat. Use by dates are excessively conservative

Lardlizard · 13/05/2020 16:43

Well I thought that might get rid of any bacteria more

OP posts:
BuffaloCauliflower · 13/05/2020 16:44

What do you think overcooking it would do that just cooking it wouldn’t?

Lardlizard · 13/05/2020 16:44

I suppose I thought if I blasted it
It would kill off germs ?!

Cross post. It won’t make any difference. Theres bacteria on everything, even you, all the time. Off fish smells obviously off.

BuffaloCauliflower · 13/05/2020 16:45

Just cooking it normally is fine

Pelleas · 13/05/2020 16:45

Yes, unless it smelt off.

Hatscats · 13/05/2020 16:46

Yes just cook as normal

Butterymuffin · 13/05/2020 16:46

Absolutely fine. One day over won't make any difference.

heartsonacake · 13/05/2020 16:48

No, I wouldn’t.

inwood · 13/05/2020 16:48

Yes

KellyHall · 13/05/2020 16:49

Unless the packaging is swollen or the fish smells disgusting, it's fine to cook it as normal.

evespudding · 13/05/2020 16:52

Yes as long as it doesn't smell bad.

msmith501 · 13/05/2020 16:55

If you overlook it, the already dead bacteria will be just as dead ten minutes later by the fish will be drier, tougher and altogether less pleasant. Killing bacteria really isn't a matter of time (apart from far far too little time) but the temperature that you cook at.

LoudBatPerson · 13/05/2020 16:57

M and s one ..... hmm nope. The Fortnum and Mason one will be totally fine though 😉

In all seriousness, regardless which shop it's from, give it a smell. When fish is past its best you can smell it.

Enjoy! I really fancy some fish now but don't have any 🙁

DrDavidBanner · 13/05/2020 17:02

With chips, mushy peas and some bread and butter? Yes please, no need to overcook it though.

HeronLanyon · 13/05/2020 17:04

Yes. Unless your fridge is way under temp it will be aok. No need to overcook it - I agree.

Caramel78 · 13/05/2020 17:10

Yes unless the packaging had swollen loads or it smelt weird. I ate something similar a day past it’s sell by date recently and was completely fine the next day

EwwSprouts · 13/05/2020 17:11

Yes.

Roselilly36 · 13/05/2020 17:19

I wouldn’t risk it. Use by dates should be followed, best before are more flexible.

HarderToBreath · 13/05/2020 17:21

No.
Do come back tomorrow and let us know if you spent half the night in the bathroom.
Good luck Grin

Lardlizard · 13/05/2020 17:48

Lol ok, hopefully I’m not too sick !

OP posts:
SallyWD · 13/05/2020 18:05

Yes I would. I don't worry too much about use by dates. I use my senses of sight and smell to determine if food is off.
