Are you a side sleeper and comfortable with your pillow situation?

If so please tell me about your pillow set up, or any pillow recommendations. My shoulders and neck are so stiff, I don’t think mine is working well.

I sleep on my side and cuddle my pillow at the same time. I must have something pillow shaped to cuddle so one of those big hard pillows have never worked well.

Please help!

Shaped pillow (sorry), then a normal one to cuddle when the DTwatCat isn't being lovey-dovey.

DP uses a firm feather pillow like you. It doesn't work as well, so he tends to nick mine once I've got up, to try and straighten his neck out.

I bought a panda pillow last year. Can't sleep with anything else now!

Heavily pregnant at the moment and sleeping with four regular pillows and a V-shaped one. Think I need one more for between my knees and I might just get a full night’s sleep...

lekkerkroketje · 12/05/2020 15:55

I have a hard shaped pillow with a squishy pillow on top

Boopear · 12/05/2020 16:00

Memory foam pillow for my head/squishy one at (both) sides to cuddle. Would something like that work..?

happysunr1se · 12/05/2020 16:01

Latexsense low profile pillow works for me.

Boringnamechanging · 12/05/2020 16:05

Dunlopillo serenity slim

winterisstillcoming · 12/05/2020 16:15

I have a massive c shaped one. Can cuddle both side but it's antisocial.

winterisstillcoming · 12/05/2020 16:15

V shaped

ringletsandtwiglets · 12/05/2020 16:19

I have a firm foam pillow from Ikea. www.ikea.com/gb/en/p/rosenskaerm-ergonomic-pillow-side-back-sleeper-30444369/

I have the slightly taller curve closest to me, so it tucks under my jaw and supports my neck. Then I cuddle a normal feather pillow.

I LOVE it! After years of struggling with bad backs, sore necks and poor sleep, this pillow works wonders for me.

Fudgewhizz · 12/05/2020 16:20

I use a feather and down pillow and bunch it up under my neck. They are much more malleable than synthetic ones!

Hagisonthehill · 12/05/2020 16:21

I have a firm pillow topped with a soft feather one.

RenegadeMrs · 12/05/2020 16:28

+1 for the dunlopillo super comfort. I hate sleeping without it now.

MonaChopsis · 12/05/2020 16:30

Stupidly expensive Tempur pillow. Agonised for ages about buying it, would now never sleep with anything else.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 12/05/2020 16:54

I've got a stupidly expensive, quite solid, side lyers memory foam pillow. Took some getting used to but I would cry if I couldn't replace it. It makes a huge difference.

DH was totally unconvinced, but I have him a back lyers one, he snores less, marginally!

The side sleeper ones are quite brick like. Don't be too disappointed when you first see one!

CockCarousel · 12/05/2020 17:01

It's much more comfy for side sleepers if you stuff a pillow down the bed, between your knees.

MrsHoolie · 12/05/2020 17:01

I've just bought a Panda pillow too.
I love it and my neck pain has gone. They have a money back guarantee if you don't get on with it.

It's firm but not as firm as a memory foam brick.

SunlightBlazing · 12/05/2020 17:03

Oh I've gone through the pillow wars !!! and had a pretty much constant neck/shoulder ache
Finally hit on the Emma pillow - now it's very firm and heavy, but i've never felt so good waking up in the morning. It's got 3 layers that you can move around or even take out some of them.
Had a bit of trouble getting used to the "no cuddle" thing, but now i am, it's brilliant

Gotakeahike · 12/05/2020 17:09

I have used the same pillow as ringletsandtwiglets for years. I have tried loads of expensive pillows and nothing keeps away the neck and shoulder pain like the IKEA one. I replace it once a year or so or the pain starts back.

ArbitraryNameChange · 12/05/2020 17:51

I bought two from Dunelm, a firm one for the bottom and a feather one for the top. Seems to do the trick.

Hoohaahoo · 12/05/2020 18:18

Thanks everyone, going to look in to some of these pillows mentioned.
I already use a pillow between my legs which definitely helps even out my spine, but I really need to sort out the up top pillows!

I have a soggy pillow that I can scrunch and bunch under my neck. I hate anything near my face, so make quite a tight ball with it that's under my neck and the back half of my head, but not my face.
