I feel so silly Blush

Basically, I drank a WKD when I got up. Just finished it and my chest feels tight, and all 'firey'. My heart feels all odd. I feel like there's hear rising to my head. It's like a drowning feeling. I'm obviously still getting oxygen as writing this. But it's so uncomfortable!

What is this?! Yes I know yiu shludlgn be drinking for breakfast... I never do. Don't know what came over me. Just fancied it and told myself it'd be okay because people drink Bucks Fizz for breakfast when it's Christmas

Bump

Yes but it is neither Christmas nor a special day....... also WKD is a shit drink- what's going on? Maybe you need to speak to someone!

TenThousandSpoons · 12/05/2020 07:47

Are you ok now OP? If your heart feels funny I’d ring 111. Or ring a friend for a chat and let them know what’s happened and talk until you feel better/if something happens they can ring an ambulance.

FourPlasticRings · 12/05/2020 07:48

Call 111. It may be something unrelated to the WKD.

fassnk · 12/05/2020 07:48

Is it heartburn? Or gas? WKD are really fizzy, could be that sitting in your chest?

Modestandatinybitsexy · 12/05/2020 07:52

Sugar rush? They're very sweet drinks and if you're not used to sugar in the morning you body could be reacting weird. If you're worried call 111.

Dranktoomuchpepsi · 12/05/2020 08:00

Hi, thank you for the replies! It lasted about 2/3 minutes, like an intense burning in my chest and I couldn't 'feel' my heart beating if that makes sense? It obviously was tjkjgj as I'm still here.

It was so strange. I still have a bit of an 'underwater feeling'.

That'll teach me not to touch WKD in the morning. I'm not an alcoholic by the way Blush that's all I drink and very occasionally too...

Does it have caffeine? I had a red bull once (the only time I ever had one) at about 10am and it made my hands shake....never again.

bloodyhellsbellsx · 12/05/2020 08:16

Heartburn and a bit of an alcohol buzz seeing as it’s the first thing you’ve ate/drank in many hours!

MurrayTheMonk · 12/05/2020 08:18

Well it's 5 o clock somewhere op...

LongPauseNoReply · 12/05/2020 08:18

First thing in the morning your body has more glucose because your liver produces it as a kind of breakfast, to give you energy when you wake up. If you have something really sugary on top it can spike your glucose really high and it feels like you've described. It take 3 to 4 minutes for insulin to react enough to being it down.

Have you been tested for type 2 diabetes?

IncrediblySadToo · 12/05/2020 08:21

Normally I'd say -see your GP but with things 'as they are' I'd leave it fir now, but if it happens again, you must see your GP

My Dad died of a massive heart attack - when they did his autopsy they said he'd had other minor ones which he would have put down as indigestion or 'something odd, but gone now'. My Dad would have gone to the Drs if he'd thought it was his heart - so he clearly hadn't.

Obviously people do get indigestion or random 'that's weird' things too but it's worth getting checked out

Bluesheep8 · 12/05/2020 08:48

I don't understand why you wanted to drink WKD first thing in the morning though?

Katinski · 12/05/2020 08:53

and at first reading I couldn't believe why anyone would drink WD40 at any timeGrin

Dranktoomuchpepsi · 12/05/2020 08:55

Blue I just like the taste. Again, complete one off

Franticbutterfly · 12/05/2020 08:56

Drinking in the morning is the road to ruin. Pull yourself together.

Dranktoomuchpepsi · 12/05/2020 08:58

Frantic HmmFfs, if was a one off Alcopop. I drink (something like WKD or Hooch) one every 6 weeks maybe. I'm not a drinker. Never touch any proper alcohol because I dislike it.

I'd need to pull myself together if I was drinking for the feeling. 8 only drink that as I like the taste

OP posts:
NiceTwin · 12/05/2020 09:02

Don't kid yourself that WKD isn't "proper alcohol", it has the same alcohol percentage as most popular beers.

WobblingMyWigglyBits · 12/05/2020 09:03

Going by your user name, how many fizzy drinks do you have a day ?

Bluesheep8 · 12/05/2020 09:05

I was just interested to know why. I bloody love dry white wine (too much if the truth be told) but it wouldn't occur to me to drink it in the morning

DailyKegelReminder · 12/05/2020 09:06

WKD/Smirnoff ice can do this to me. My cheeks also go very red and hot. That's why I stick to vodka GrinWink

Dranktoomuchpepsi · 12/05/2020 09:07

Nice Does it really? Anyway, either way, even if it was a glass of wine, having onz glass weeks and weeks apart seems very reasonable to me. Yes the morning isn't great but as a complete one off its fine in the grand scheme of things

Wobbling about 3. But they're diet if that helps

OP posts:
SlowDecline · 12/05/2020 09:09

Sounds to me like drinking the WKD gave you an anxiety/panic spike. Did you maybe feel worried about the fact you'd drunk alcohol for breakfast?

Hugsgalore · 12/05/2020 09:14

@LongPauseNoReply that's very interesting. Thanks for that. I get major sugar crash if I ever eat anything sweet for breakfast. I've been tested for diabetes but my fasting bloods are well below the diabetic range so apparently don't have it.

LongPauseNoReply · 12/05/2020 09:20

@Hugsgalore if it was a one off blood test it really won't tell you much in isolation.

Blood sugar crashes after sweet foods tell me you have some blood sugar issues, maybe not severe enough for a diagnosis but a reactive hypoglycemic attack like you describe isn't really normal.
