Omelette fillings...

sparklefarts · 11/05/2020 18:43

Just eaten a rather tasty ham and mushroom omelette and it occurred to me that I have NEVER had any other fillings in my omelettes.

I have always gone to ham and mushroom and I cannot imagine an omelette being any better.

So, good people of Mumsnet, spice up my life, hit me with your favourite fillings and I may give them a bash next time ( I probably won't)

@MamaBearThius that is exactly why I can never eat them together. Urg.

Cheese, onion, ham and mushroom. I love an omelette.
Chorizo sounds like an amazing idea.

Nicknacky · 11/05/2020 20:28

My omelettes have started sticking to my pan. What’s your cooking method? Ideas welcome!

Nicknacky · 11/05/2020 20:28

I have for really small chopped chorizo which is lovely in my omelette.

I sometimes do a Chinese omelette so bean sprouts, peppers, chilli, spring onions, prawns and soy sauce

Millie2013 · 11/05/2020 20:31

Cream cheese and chive
Cheese and fresh chilli with a drizzle of honey
(I now want to try cheese and pineapple)

TKAAHUARTG · 11/05/2020 20:34

Omurice is my current favourite cooking.nytimes.com/recipes/1019430-omurice-japanese-rice-omelet
I also like just tomato, chopped small and deseeded.

CountFosco · 11/05/2020 20:35

Best omelette I ever had was a black pudding omelette I had for breakfast sitting outside a tiny cafe in Girona. Heaven.

Otherwise cheese or mushrooms or spanish omelette or onions and peas.

Mummy103 · 11/05/2020 20:40

Chopped frankfurters and cheese 🤤

moonset · 11/05/2020 20:40

Spring onion & cheddar cheese

Chillipeanuts · 11/05/2020 20:41

Arnold Bennett. Lots of recipes on Inter-web. Delicious.

justjuggling · 11/05/2020 23:13

Cheddar and onion or Bacon & Brie

IFancyANamechange · 11/05/2020 23:19

Ham, tomato, spinach and feta.

I have it every morning for breakfast.

alphajuliet123 · 11/05/2020 23:20

Goats cheese, spinach leaves and caramelised onion is my favourite, but a good old ham, cheese and onion is also good. Anything that goes on a pizza can go in an omelette.

boatyardblues · 11/05/2020 23:23

Chorizo, cheese and thinly sliced red pepper - plus cold potatoes if I have them.

Prawn, frozen spinach (defrosted) and low fat philly/cream cheese beaten into the eggs.

Cheese and mushroom.

Cheese, ham and leftover potatoes.

I like Korean folded omelette/egg roll - thin egg base with dash of soy sauce, very finely chopped carrots and spring onions sprinkled straight into wet omelette, then add layer of sesame-oil brushed toasted seaweed (laver) as the egg starts to set & roll in pan. Cut long roll into bite size portions. Nice in lunchboxes too. This recipe shows the without seaweed version: www.thehungrytravelerblog.com/korean-egg-roll/

An omelette is one of my go-to mes when I'm having a vegetarian day so I never out neat in mine. It's usually spinach, tomatoes with a bit of cheese. I kid myself that it's healthy.

Curious78 · 11/05/2020 23:25

I tend to forgo any fancy filling in my omelette and eat it plain on buttered toast. I appreciate I might be a little bit weird 😂

jay55 · 11/05/2020 23:26

Cheese and salsa

MrsEsss · 11/05/2020 23:27

Buttered toast is lush with an omelette. Sometimes I use avocado instead of butter which is also delicious.

boatyardblues · 11/05/2020 23:29

When I was in high school I used to make omelette sandwiches for my packed lunch, usually cheese, mushroom and red pepper - really tasty cold.

boatyardblues · 11/05/2020 23:30

I’m now setting my alarm 10 min early so I can have an omelette for breakfast tomorrow, ya bastards!

Bearlyclearly · 11/05/2020 23:36

Plain omelette spread a small tin of baked beans on it then grated cheese and melt the cheese under the grill

H1978 · 11/05/2020 23:49

Red peppers, tomatoes, onions, chilli powder, fresh coriander, salt and pepper with sliced cucumbers on the side 😋

SomeHalfHumanCreatureThing · 12/05/2020 00:04

Peppers, mushrooms, tomatoes, oregano, handful of leaves (rocket etc) and cheese. Yes, all at the same time.
