Worlds first problems... I know.. but I like to try and focus on some positive things to look forward to (keeps me sane!)

Just wondered if anyone has had their holiday cancelled and if so have you rebooked? If so, when for?

I have had our holiday to usa cancelled unfortunately, we will be re booking for 2022 as we already have plans for an anniversary celebration on a Caribbean cruise next march! (Fingers crossed this still goes ahead) we may also book a last minute cheap holiday to Croatia in october 2021- I have seen some fantastic deals, albeit I wouldnt book anything at the moment!

How about you?

Smile

I was supposed to be going to Florida next Saturday. It’s now re scheduled for the same time next year.

Teacher12345 · 02/05/2020 19:45

First holiday in years, booked for June. Now swapped for June 2021.

SpnBaby1967 · 02/05/2020 19:53

We have holiday booked for august 2021

Ghostlyglow · 02/05/2020 19:56

I won't be booking any holidays yet, with regretSad

Mangofandangoo · 02/05/2020 19:58

We were supposed to be going to visit family in Spain today, not yet rebooked but we are hopefully to be able to visit in September/ October

SunsetYorks · 02/05/2020 20:01

Who are you booking with? I can’t find flights past May!

Muchtoomuchtodo · 02/05/2020 20:03

We were hoping to book to go away for Christmas 2020 and we’re all set to do so when we entered lockdown.
We’re not booking anything for the time being, UK or abroad.

MissCalamity · 02/05/2020 20:37

Trying to re-book our holiday which we were due to go on in 3 weeks time for the same time next year prices have shot up though. Sad
If it was just for our family I would get a refund but we were meant to be going away with my parents & sister and her family.

Sunshineonacloudyday20 · 02/05/2020 20:55

You can book cruises early on.. they get booked up really quickly! We booked it with a travel agent 😀

Aww I know how you feel.. we havent been abroad for several years and the cancelled holiday really got me through some tough days at work! Dont want to complain too much though I know there are a lot worse things happening in the world right now!

I've just booked a week in Brittany with EuroCamp for the end of August. We are supposed to be flying to Sardinia in June but have hazarded a guess we won't be, although its not actually been cancelled yet.

I figured that if restrictions were lifted then availability would be patchy and I needed to book the leave well in advance. The deposit is only £99 which we can afford to lose if necessary.

We're also taking the ferry rather than flying which I guessed was maybe more likely to be able to offer social distancing

Waxonwaxoff0 · 03/05/2020 07:47

My holiday was booked for the end of July, it hasn't been cancelled but I highly doubt travel will be possible by then so I've moved it to July 2021.

I also have holidays booked for February and May next year which I booked before coronavirus (I'm an advance booker). Leaving them as they are for now, I'm 50/50 on the February one but I'll reassess nearer the time and move it if needs be.

Abreadsandwich · 03/05/2020 07:54

We booked to go away in December a few weeks before Covid 19 became a pandemic. Have paid for flights on a credit card but now worried even if restrictions are lifted we wont be able to afford to go Sad

RosesandIris · 03/05/2020 07:58

I have been considering booking a holiday in October this year on the basis that it will be cancelled if restrictions are still in place. Is that just really unwise?

bluestarsatnightfall · 03/05/2020 07:59

I wouldn't book anything at all for this year unless last minute when you know everything is ok to fly.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 03/05/2020 08:02

@RosesandIris it will be cancelled if restrictions are still in place, but it might take you a long time to get a refund and if you want to rebook you will likely see huge price hikes for next year.

RosesandIris · 03/05/2020 08:11

My thinking is once lockdown is over, everyone is going to rush to book a holiday and prices will rocket then. The deposit only is due, with balance in July. Which is too soon really.

bettybattenburg · 03/05/2020 08:18

August 2021

Mrhodgeymaheg · 03/05/2020 08:23

Luckily only had a weekend booked. Decided to get money back as worried that the company might go under if this continues on and off for a while, despitebthem offering vouchers on top. We will go camping instead if the camp sites are open.

timeforawine · 03/05/2020 08:25

I've got holidays this year in August and November, booked before all this kicked off, so have to wait and see what happens. I won't be booking anything else until FCO advice changes as i wouldn't want to invalidate my insurance
'
It is important to be aware that if the Foreign and Commonwealth Office warns against all travel or all but essential travel to your holiday destination before you get there, you will not covered by your travel insurance, which means that any claims you make will not be paid, if you choose to travel against their advice'

Dollywilde · 03/05/2020 08:35

We have a UK break booked for October which I’m praying we can still go on.

Had a break booked for June which is definitely not happening now (Italy, and I’ll be 31 weeks by then, so a definite non-starter). Luckily accommodation was sorted by MIL and she’s managed to get a refund, so we’ll only be trying to claw back £200 of flights. We’d booked in early pregnancy so went as cheap as possible on flights on the basis that we could stand to lose the money if I wasn’t feeling up to the trip or I was advised not to go, so I’ve mentally written that money off now.

Plan was to go to Greece in early May 2021 which I’m still hoping we’ll be able to do, although I won’t be booking anything for a while yet.

My main concern is a lovely weekend away in Cornwall at an adults only hotel which we were meant to have gone to at Easter... we have £500 of vouchers for it, if we can’t use them before DC is born it’ll be money lost as I can’t see us having a weekend away without them before this Xmas (vouchers valid a year). Sad Might try and ask the hotel if they’ll give us an extension on them but there’s no motivation for them to I suppose...

ThePug · 03/05/2020 08:36

Is nobody concerned about being abroad and potentially being critically ill? I wouldn’t want to travel anywhere ‘as soon as lockdown is lifted’! We were meant to be going to Lake Garda in August - no chance I’d be hopping on a plane there in August even UK & Italy were permitting it.

getyoursocksoffhoney · 03/05/2020 08:38

We should be in Florida now but decided not to rebook as we were worried about not being able to get insurance.
Glad we didn't now seeing how America are dealing with the virus!
We are hoping to be able to go in December instead, if by September when we look at booking things are still looking worrying we will push it back to next March, and if we still can't go by March we will have to have another re think!

getyoursocksoffhoney · 03/05/2020 08:40

Also got a 4 night uk break in September booked so hoping that can at least go ahead but not sure

reluctantbrit · 03/05/2020 08:44

Easter break - flights were refunded, holiday let kept the deposit for a future booking. As it is a place to visit my PIL we will go as soon as possible.

May half term - was Orlando/Universal. Currently in process of re-booking for Easter 2021 with a couple of days in NY added

August - one week Majorca - nothing so far, I doubt we will go but we leave it as it was book independently so need to be advised to cancel to get money via the travel insurance.

GreyGardens88 · 03/05/2020 08:46

Flights to Thailand booked for end of September, not rebooking
