Challenge: DP brought home 6 eggs - what can I bake?

Calling on the baking goddesses of Mumsnet. I was moaning to DP that I have all the standard baking supplies (flour, various sugars, baking power, golden syrup, cream of tartar, butter, milk, etc) but no eggs. So he's brought me 6 eggs. But now I'm totally stumped for how to use them up when so many recipes don’t require that many eggs.

I have no jam or cream or fruit or anything like that, so whatever it is will need to be pretty plain.

Also neither me nor DP actually like eggs, so no option to use them up by eating them boiled/scrambled etc.

Any ideas for something I can bake?

Bake more than one cake then!

Artesia · 30/04/2020 15:16

You don’t need to use them all in one recipe! Pancakes, Yorkshire puddings; biscuits, or just several cakes. Lovely!!

DoTheNextRightThing · 30/04/2020 15:17

See that's a thought but I'm not sure I have enough flour for that 🤦🏻‍♀️😂 I don’t have full bags of anything, so I'm cautious of running out! Was hoping there was some magical cake that requires all my ingredients at once and would use everything up😂

Scrambled eggs on cake

Cake and then meringue?

LoisLittsLover · 30/04/2020 15:23

Or do enough cake/cakes to use them up and then freeze them. Also, if you beat them, you can freeze eggs

mrsfeatherbottom · 30/04/2020 15:24

Any chocolate? You could make a flourless chocolate cake.

Eminybob · 30/04/2020 15:25

Have poached eggs on toast for breakfast for a couple of days.

paap1975 · 30/04/2020 15:26

The French "quatre quarts" is equal weight of eggs (shell on for weighing), flour, sugar and butter

girlsyearapart · 30/04/2020 15:26

Brownies seem to need a fair bit

Umpteen · 30/04/2020 15:26

They’ll keep for quite a while. You don’t need to use them all right now!

paap1975 · 30/04/2020 15:26

You can split the mixture into 2, stir some cocoa into one half and make a marble cake

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 30/04/2020 15:27

Use 2 or 3 in a cake then use the rest as, you know, eggs.

It's not like he brought home pickled badgers livers..

bengalcat · 30/04/2020 15:28

I use 5 eggs to make chocolate brownies but as others have said use them for different dishes .

thewreckofthehesperus · 30/04/2020 15:31

Brownies or blondies usually use up a lot of eggs and freeze well. So make a double batch and freeze some for the next time you have a cake craving.

Meringues with the whites and custard with the yolks?
No flour required. Quite a bit of sugar though!

mencken · 30/04/2020 15:41

eggs last 3 weeks. Make a cake (if you must, much easier to buy and costs less on ingredients and fuel) and use the rest as normal food.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 30/04/2020 15:45

Well, my brownie recipe needs 6 eggs and 400g of dark chocolate .....

DinosApple · 30/04/2020 15:47

With flour:
Cookies 1 egg
Sponge (I'd break up choc and put it in instead of jam etc) 3 or 4 eggs

No flour:
Meringues - egg whites
Mayonnaise - egg yolks

In fact, 6 eggs could give you 12 fairy cakes, 12 cookies, some meringues and some mayo 😂. But you'd need flour, sugar, chocolate, vanilla extract, Dijon mustard etc and a bit of effort.

Or you could have eggy bread and ketchup for tea.

It’s so great when people read the OP

lemon meringue. Google Delia Smith's recipe.

Poodles03 · 30/04/2020 15:51

What a stupid question. You can bake anything with eggs - millions of things.

MrsAmaro · 30/04/2020 15:53

It must be the cabin fever setting but scrambled eggs on cake has me chortling away to myself.

The French "quatre quarts" is equal weight of eggs (shell on for weighing), flour, sugar and butter That's the same as Victoria sponge, isn't it?
