What nice things have you overheard from neighbours gardens during lockdown?

Being on a corner plot, we can easily hear people in 4 or 5 gardens, many of whom we've never met as it is their back garden backing onto our back garden with fences & hedges in between.
One family has, I guess, a pre-schooler. It was his birthday a couple of weeks ago and he had a swing. Much excitement! He has been trying to learn to swing himself with his parents regularly saying "you've got to move your legs in and out not just say "legs out; legs in"". He seems to have nailed it this weekend!
Another family have a baby who seems to gurgle and chuckle a lot and just sounds very contented with life.
Someone a bit further away has a competent pianist (although I'd quite like them to move onto another piece). I'm less enthusiastic about the violin playing as they're still at the very screechy stage.

I heard one of the vet students next door saying that she misses the cats at her parents' house, and she feels happy whenever she sees one of ours, who love being outside. Smile

Lovely thread

There are a couple of cute kids a few doors down who are really funny in the garden. Yesterday's gem was "I'm eight years old and I don't need your advice!" There is also someone who plays the trumpet occasionally - they're not half bad.

The children next door trying to teach their new puppy to sit, then (according to the sounds) giving up when he jumped up all over them, making them giggle uncontrollably.

Our very serious elderly next door neighbour trying to teach his dog some tricks. He's very patient with her, but I don't think she's interested. There's a lot of "Dotty, come back here!" Grin

Sigh.... If only we could take the nice bits of this whole corona chapter and and keep them going, and let the shitty bits disappear.

Our houses back onto woods. A few days ago next door's little girl was having a conversation with a neighbourly bird.

Chiff Chaff: "chiffchaff chiffchaff chiffchaff"

Little girl: "chiffchaff chiffchaff chiffchaff"

Chiff Chaff: "chiffchaff chiffchaff chiffchaff"

Little girl: "chiffchaff....

You get the picture - it went on for quite some time Grin
