I took my dc’s for a walk today for the first time this week. It’s a pretty long walk along the coast path but then down to a fairly inaccessible beach so was fairly confident it would be quiet.
My 4yo has been getting really unsettled by the whole lockdown stuff lately. I think he just misses all his friends and being able to go to his favourite places etc but he keeps bursting into tears and has started having toilet accidents again
.
Anyway, when we got to the beach we had a little sit down then I told dc’s to find a nice stone male a wish and throw it into the sea. My 4yo found one and said his wish was to see ‘Harry’ his best friend again because he wanted to show him the secret beach we’d come to. He throws it into the sea, we start walking up back up the hill and coming over the top of the hill is Harry with his family. Ds was so excited he could hardly speak and has spent the rest of the day talking about what he’s going to wish for next time we go.
It’s not really that surprising - the family only lives a couple of roads over from us, if you’re going to go for a walk round here you’d probably go that way although it’s a slog for little kids. But it’s really cheered me up and I don’t have anyone to tell in real life.
