A lovely coincidence happened today

I took my dc’s for a walk today for the first time this week. It’s a pretty long walk along the coast path but then down to a fairly inaccessible beach so was fairly confident it would be quiet.

My 4yo has been getting really unsettled by the whole lockdown stuff lately. I think he just misses all his friends and being able to go to his favourite places etc but he keeps bursting into tears and has started having toilet accidents again Sad.

Anyway, when we got to the beach we had a little sit down then I told dc’s to find a nice stone male a wish and throw it into the sea. My 4yo found one and said his wish was to see ‘Harry’ his best friend again because he wanted to show him the secret beach we’d come to. He throws it into the sea, we start walking up back up the hill and coming over the top of the hill is Harry with his family. Ds was so excited he could hardly speak and has spent the rest of the day talking about what he’s going to wish for next time we go.

It’s not really that surprising - the family only lives a couple of roads over from us, if you’re going to go for a walk round here you’d probably go that way although it’s a slog for little kids. But it’s really cheered me up and I don’t have anyone to tell in real life.

Aww that made me cry my 4yo is going through pretty much the same struggles and has struggled so much with regards to his best mate.
We tried to FT his best friend but neither of them really liked it and were annoyed they couldn't race each other and play robots together.

that’s so sweet!

I needed to hear this. Especially this evening. So glad your son got his wish

How lovely for your DS. Hope he feels a lot better about lockdown now. Take care.

Whaddyathinkofthis · 24/04/2020 13:43

No such thing as a coincidence Wink

His wish came true ❤

Windyatthebeach · 24/04/2020 13:48

Small coincidence here also. Ds 5 has been upset and actually cried yesterday as he has missed 2 camping trips and 3 birthday parties due to CV. He has mastered his bike and was keen to try out some roller skates.
Looked on gumtree - brand new pair in his size! Went out on them last night!
Seller had left them tied to a gate and dh tied the bagged cash back on!!

Aww - magical! So glad he got to see his friend.

Reminds me of many years ago when I'd popped round to my cousin's house on Christmas Eve to give her son his Christmas present when he was about 4. I'd got him a bag of chocolate coins as well as his main present, but his little friend arrived to play just after I got there so I decided I'd better give her the coins rather than give him two things in front of her. Her mouth fell open, and her mum said that just as they were arriving, she'd said 'I wish I had some chocolate coins' Grin

Aw, I love the other lovely coincidence stories. Ds is so much happier today. Keeps asking to go back to the Wishing Beach. It’s a steep 3 miles each way though, I need a break before we do it again.

This lockdown is turning me into a right old emotional mess.

That is so lovely! I can only imagine how happy my children would be if that had happened to them.
I went shopping a few days ago, queuing up outside and was thinking of my parents and then my mums car drove past me onto the car park and my mum walked over the join the queue I was in. I had to try really hard not to cry I hadn't seen her since before lock down and it was a total coincidence we'd both go shopping at the same time!

I’m 50 and got all excited seeing two lots of friends in two days while out for walks. Just 5 mins chat (across the road!) really brightened my mood. So I get how excited your 4 yo was!!

BetsyJameson · 24/04/2020 20:50

That’s such a lovely story, thank you 😊

PoppliosBubble · 25/04/2020 14:54

They’re insisting on us going down to the wishing beach again tomorrow and they’ve both got incredibly demanding wishes this time (an Xbox and a reincarnated grandfather). It might be a bit of a disappointment 😬

Oh how lovely op, is that Wembury?

AdoptedBumpkin · 25/04/2020 15:01

That is lovely. I hope he gets to see Harry more frequently soon.

Katinski · 25/04/2020 15:54

the wishing beachSmile

PoppliosBubble · 25/04/2020 16:55

No, not Wembury although it does look similar. It’s Mansands near Brixham.
