Do you wash your children's hair with a different shampoo to yourself?

I have DD's 5 & 3 ive always washed their hair with whatever shampoo the rest of the household use. Do you buy a separate shampoo for your kids?

Yes, we currently use Bloom and Blossom shampoo on the children. We have a separate shampoo and conditioner from the hairdressing salon.

PaquitaVariation · 20/04/2020 19:09

I used to when they were very little and they couldn’t be relied upon to keep their eyes shut. Since then we’ve all just used the same.

Inconnu · 20/04/2020 19:10

Yes - theirs is cheaper Blush

DD used to have very bad eczema so first she had special stuff and then she had l'oreal kids to be more gentle until it stopped being man enough for the job when she was around 10 or so.

paradisefalls · 20/04/2020 19:10

I only question it because I was just washing the youngest child's hair with Pantene and was wondering if it was a bit harsh on her hair. Plus I can't remember what I did with my 3 teens at this age Confused

No mine have always used my shampoo. Aussie miracle stuff.

BananaSpanner · 20/04/2020 19:11

Yes. We use a L’Oreal kids shampoo and a Children’s Farm conditioner. Presumed it was just gentler all round.

ExplodingCarrots · 20/04/2020 19:12

My DD is 6 and she now uses the same as us. Her hair is so thick and notty so she needs good conditioner.

Millie2013 · 20/04/2020 19:12

Yes, DD has child’s farm, as she has eczema and reacts to some stuff. I use any old cheap shite Grin

Proudpeacock · 20/04/2020 19:15

Yes, I don't think that DS(4) needs shampoo for dyed red hair so he has Aldi kids stuff.

scrivette · 20/04/2020 19:15

The 8 year old uses whatever conditioner I use but the little ones use child friendly shampoo and conditioner.

bobbityboop · 20/04/2020 19:16

Yes DD is 3 and uses mine. She has thick hair down to her bum and the kiddy shampoos and conditioner don't cut the mustard.

I use a Paul Mitchell shampoo and his detangling conditioner. Also add a rub of coconut oil in her hair afterwards to give her that shiny factor Grin

ForeverBubblegum · 20/04/2020 19:16

I use a kids 2 in 1 shampoo/ conditioner on DS, but 2 separate products for mine. He hates getting his head wet, so once is enough. If I used 2 in 1 my long hair would be a tangled mess.

AGoodPodcastAndANiceCupOfTea · 20/04/2020 19:21

I'm using kids shampoo on 2 year old dc because it doesn't sting when it goes in her eyes while she's having an absolute shitfit while I wash her hair! However, one this stops being an issue she will use or shampoo bars for sure. I've actually noticed that her curly dry-ish hair is nice on the couple of occasions I've used my shampoo so roll on the end if the shit-fitting!!!

ParkheadParadise · 20/04/2020 19:21

When dd was a newborn I used Johnston's baby shampoo she was born with a full head of hair.
She's 4 now hair hair is long and thick I use Aussie shampoo and conditioner.

woodencoffeetable · 20/04/2020 19:25

yes, since dc were about 3 yo.

PawPatrolMakesMeDrink · 20/04/2020 19:27

Nah, we all use the same shampoo bar.

olivehater · 20/04/2020 19:27

I think baby shampoo is the right ph so that it doesn’t hurt the eyes but not the best for the hair. It’s a compromise. Normal Adult shampoo is a better ph for the hair.

Comefromaway · 20/04/2020 19:30

Yes. Both dd and I have sensitive scalps but react to different things.

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 20/04/2020 19:30

I use a nit-repelling one in the DC. Because if they ever come home with nits I shall have to move out.

Luckystar1 · 20/04/2020 19:31

Yes, my son (5) has eczema so he uses Child’s farm, my daughter (3) has curly hair so she uses a washing conditioner.

I use body shop ginger stuff (great for bad scalps)

The 7yo uses whatever I use, she has thick curly/wavey hair and needs proper conditioner. The 3yo needs baby shampoo still as she kicks off every time she gets a hair wash and doesn’t reliably keep her eyes shut so needs something gentler but she uses my conditioner as her curls need more moisture than the baby stuff can give.

IceCreamAndCandyfloss · 20/04/2020 19:38

Yes, they have their own. Mine is for coloured hair so they don’t need it and DH has his own too.

devildeepbluesea · 20/04/2020 19:40

Not any more, she's 7 now. She used to have supermarket own brand kids shampoo.
