Just for fun where would you live in Spain

Since lockdown I've sadly started to really enjoy watching a place in the sun, DH and I have always said we'd buy a flat in Majorca when we retire and keep a place in London end split our time.
Where would you choose to live in Majorca if you could and why? We know a few different areas but nowhere near well enough to commit to, although obvs this is all imaginary fun for the next 30yrs before we retire!

Have only been once - to Cala bona and absolutely loved it, it felt so safe and relaxed.
Definitely would love to return to see more of the island and always dream of moving there

I live in Catalonia, near Girona. It's usually fabulous. The beach is 200 yards away, there are lovely coffee shops, nice people and its warm but not too warm. I had to take early retirement and we have enough pension to lead a lovely life with plenty of holidays. It really is a good life, but it will be a lot harder once the uk leaves the EU. There are a lots of rules and regulations to follow and it can be stressful in a second language. At the moment it's been raining for a week and we're not allowed out ,even for exercise It's been like that since 13th March.

I've been watching a place in the sun loads as well OP. This one they're looking at just now I'm not keen on - too long and thin although the balcony is nice.

If I could live anywhere in Spain it would be Seville. There's no way I could ever afford to retire there though.

LightDrizzle · 20/04/2020 19:23

In a restored carmen in Granada.

NaturalBlondeYeahRight · 20/04/2020 19:31

Ooo difficult question. If just Majorca I’d go Cala D’or. I know the exact road I’d want. If anywhere in Spain, probably a penthouse in Barcelona but I’d be tempted by a sprawling volcanic villa in Lanzarote for year round sun.

AyeRobot · 20/04/2020 19:34

In Spain? Up in the Rias in Galicia.

In Majorca? Somewhere near Soller, probably.

Picassosdove · 20/04/2020 19:39

Another vote for Galicia. La Coruna

Enb76 · 20/04/2020 19:41

In the Sierra Nevada for the tapas

IPityThePontipines · 21/04/2020 02:13

Alicante. A really lovely city. I've visited twice and can't wait to go back.

BettyUnderswoob · 21/04/2020 02:26

We’re very lucky, we have a studio Apartment in Mallorca. It’s in Alcudia.
Love being up in the north in the mountains, but it doesn’t take too long to get anywhere really. Love visiting Se Dragonera, Soller, Valldemossa etc.

Wouldn’t mind a little place in Barcelona too though!

Terralee · 21/04/2020 12:02

Ibiza or Lanzarote not Mallorca for me.

BarbeDeMaman · 21/04/2020 12:05

In Spain: Santander.
In Majorca, nowhere. I'd hate to live on a small island.

Hoppinggreen · 21/04/2020 12:06

Ayamonte in South West Spain or the Portuguese border
Lower prices and less crowded than most of the costas and not many expats. Beautiful town and you can go to Portugal very easily if you fancy a change. Only about an hour from Seville as well, which is one of my favourite cities.
We own a property in that area now and plan to retire there in 10 years or so

pinkblanchmange · 21/04/2020 12:09

Cala D'Or in Majorca, our favourite place

UnfinishedSymphon · 21/04/2020 12:19

Lanzarote for me or Denia/Javea/Moraira in mainland Spain

IndieTara · 21/04/2020 13:14

Close to my parents who
Live there

SimonJT · 21/04/2020 13:16

Sitges, absolutely love it, we were meant to be there in July.

Hoggleludo · 21/04/2020 14:19

Denia. Been there loads

Met my husband there.

skippy67 · 21/04/2020 14:20

Madrid. Lived there a while back and loved it.

bellocchild · 21/04/2020 14:21

Tarragona or Dénia: both great.

littlealexhorne · 21/04/2020 14:24

I adore Majorca, one of my favourite places. It'd probably be Alcudia for me.

JimmyGrimble · 21/04/2020 14:27

Pollensa or Soller. Both beautiful.

Troels · 21/04/2020 14:54

Way down South. Nearer to Cadiz. I have family from near there and Dh loves the heat, both summer and winter.
I'd like to be a bit closer to the Portuguese border.Maybe as far as Huelva.

Applejaxx · 21/04/2020 14:58

Mijas

Lifeaback · 21/04/2020 15:03

Probably Ibiza. I’ve visited nearly every year since I was 18 and it’s always been a special place to me- I have such happy memories of my clubbing days when I was younger, and love going now and staying in the more remote, beautiful places. It has some of the most amazing beaches and restaurants which I would love to be able to experience for more than just one week of the year.

I’ve travelled to every continent except Antarctica and seen some of the most amazing places in the world, but something always draws me back to Ibiza and I could quite happily settle there
