Anyone else hoping for some warm weather now?

Having read about people sunbathing, having barbecues, getting paddling pools out etc I'm starting to feel like the only one who is still in socks and cardigans. Saturday was so cold I needed a coat and gloves to go out. My kids won't play out for long due to the cold wind. It's only 12C here today according to the weather app and it's warmer than over the weekend. What's going on? Do I live in some odd microclimate or something? Really looking forward to some good weather and being able to enjoy a daily walk rather than drag everyone out shivering and miserable. I've got the heating and my dressing gown on at the moment.

What part of the country are you in? I'm in the north west and it's sunny today but the breeze is cold.

User721 · 20/04/2020 16:00

Where are you? I read its been the warmest April so far for many many years

ToffeeYoghurt · 20/04/2020 16:02

Isn't it better not having warm weather when on lockdown?

I'm in the NW and my thermometer reads 19 currently, it's hot when you're directly in the sun

BlueGheko · 20/04/2020 16:04

Yeah roll on May, usually much warmer. It's been lovely and sunny here most days but a freezing wind to go with it. Looks like summer doesn't feel like it.

Pipandmum · 20/04/2020 16:05

Its been so warm here we had Easter sunday lunch outside and all the back doors have been open most days and my bedroom window hasn't been shut for a month.

Pieceofpurplesky · 20/04/2020 16:05

It's glorious in my garden today and has been lovely all but Saturday. I am sheltered from the breeze today. It 19 degrees where I am sat right now.

LilacTree1 · 20/04/2020 16:06

No

Not just being selfish but PPE in hot weather 😱

And hospitals are awful in hot weather, poor patients.

bettybattenburg · 20/04/2020 16:06

Sunny weather is better, it was so miserable when it rained at the weekend.

DrCoconut · 20/04/2020 16:07

We're in north Lincs. The sun is out but it's cold. April 2011 was far far warmer. DS2 was born then and I remember going to the midwife appointment after having him in shorts and sandals. Warmer weather would be great as it lifts my mood and the kids could play out a bit instead of coming in after 2 minutes as they are cold. We could get the paddling pool out and to the horror of many on here no doubt do a barbecue. It'd blow away today! Still, it's only spring.

I will settle for warm, doesn't have to be boiling hot.

Warm in Glasgow. I got sunburnt yesterday sitting at my open (wide) window

blue25 · 20/04/2020 16:11

We’ve pretty much lived in the garden for the last couple of weeks (apart from fri/sat last week). Lockdown is definitely more bearable when you can get out in the sun.

ToffeeYoghurt · 20/04/2020 16:12

I think we disagree on lockdown Lilac but I definitely agree with you on this. Hospitals are hellishly hot in summer.

TrickyKid · 20/04/2020 16:40

Where are you? We've had the paddling pool out it's been so warm and keep having to sit in the shade to not burn. Never known it so nice in April.

DrCoconut · 20/04/2020 17:41

April 2011 was far warmer, here at least.

Chrisinthemorning · 20/04/2020 17:44

It’s sunny but the wind is cold here. Yorkshire. It’s 13C.
We can go out in the garden in hoodies for running around games but not sit out.

Likethebattle · 20/04/2020 17:45

I’m near Glasgow and it’s nice but blowing a gale. First week out of lockdown it will be a deluge! Storm Wendy or something!

Sandsnake · 20/04/2020 17:46

It’s the easterly coming in across the North Sea, making things far colder in the eastern half of the country. We’re in Surrey and the wind is chilly today but we’ve had some absolutely lovely days, really warm. Hope it gets better for you soon, the wind’s due to drop a bit towards the end of the week so should warm up a bit for you!

DrCoconut · 25/04/2020 00:26

The wind has dropped a bit. Yesterday I managed to go for a walk cardigan free Grin

We live right on the coast and our garden faces the wrong way. It’s never ever paddling pool weather here
In the week me and DD were out in coats and jeans and my sister sent me a photo of her and DN in their swimming costumes. They live a five minute walk away.

Mumtothelittlefella · 25/04/2020 07:36

We’ve had brilliant weather over the last five weeks. We’re in Wales. Not sunbathing all the time but sunny and many days were we’ve cooked and eaten out. I can’t remember having such a prolonged period of good weather here.

Chasingsquirrels · 25/04/2020 07:36

It's been just glorious here in Cambs, I've been doing a lot of outside maintenance in the garden.
My mum wants some decent rain for the garden (overnight preferably).

WifOfBif · 25/04/2020 07:40

20 degrees here yesterday, east mids.

FthisS · 25/04/2020 07:43

It has been so hot in pembrokeshire. We have all been in summer clothes since the start of the month. I have never known it to be so warm.
