Anyone else hoping for some warm weather now?

Having read about people sunbathing, having barbecues, getting paddling pools out etc I'm starting to feel like the only one who is still in socks and cardigans. Saturday was so cold I needed a coat and gloves to go out. My kids won't play out for long due to the cold wind. It's only 12C here today according to the weather app and it's warmer than over the weekend. What's going on? Do I live in some odd microclimate or something? Really looking forward to some good weather and being able to enjoy a daily walk rather than drag everyone out shivering and miserable. I've got the heating and my dressing gown on at the moment.

South east here. Has been over 20 degrees several days and the sun is HOT! Patio door open all afternoon once the sun has warmed the back garden up! Still chilly in mornings and evenings though,

DrCoconut
I am in Lincolnshire too and have been sunbathing outside for the last couple of weeks
I did have to move my garden chairs into a more sheltered part of the garden though as some mornings there is a cold wind. I have also enjoyed sitting reading on my front drive in the mornings...a glorious suntrap , and everyone waves as they pass.

We're SE and it's been hot for days now. I'm going out for my run first thing or in the evening as it's just too hot during the day; the DC are in their swimsuits for much of the day with the paddling pool out; our garden faces SE so we've been having breakfast & lunch outside but don't have any direct sun at this time of year for eating dinner outside.

Warmer weather will be unpleasant for people in flats with no gardens.

its been perfect for walking recently, with a choice of cool in the morning and warmer later.

Colder winds are normal for east coast, I noticed a difference when I moved from North Yorkshire to Lancashire. That's not 'microclimate', it's a regional variation.

DH got sunburnt yesterday in the NW.

3 miles from the North Sea, bright and bitter for the last 2 weeks.

Sun cream and parasol here in SE. Very warm for weeks but with a day of heavy rain at some point, can’t remember which day as they are all alike.
Shorts and tea dresses rather than cardigans.

We’re Lincolnshire too and it was 20° yesterday.

We're not far from you and I've been in and out of shorts all week. It's definitely colder indoors than out. I've set off for a dog walk more than once thinking it's cold and had to strip off the layers on the way.

I've also got a cracking tan from half a day in the garden and a few evening walks.

Do you live in the shade / a wind tunnel?

OutingMyself · 25/04/2020 09:31

Today is the first overcast day in North Essex for ages and I'm loving it.

Last week I could hear the wind howling round my bedroom window. I live on a long straight road so maybe it is a bit of a wind tunnel. Plus I think I was a lizard in a former life because I'm very seldom hot. Much below 20 is jeans and cardy time. And wind just chills me to the bone most of the time.

It's been beautiful weather here in West Yorkshire. Was in the low 20s yesterday and forecast for the same today so we're going to have a bbq.

It's forecast to rain continuously for I think 5 days straight after Tuesday so going to make the most of the sun while it's here.
