Banana recipe that isn't banana bread?

I've squishy bananas but no interest in banana bread. I can't see any recipes that inspire me. What would you do with them?

banana pancakes

Iadoremylabrador · 18/04/2020 20:12

Freeze them and them and then put them in a blender with some milk for banana milkshake.

ladybee28 · 18/04/2020 20:14

Bake them in the oven and then split open with a squeeze of lime juice and some brown sugar and cinnamon?

How many have you got?

Banana, peanut butter and coffee smoothies.

Chop them into chunks then freeze. When they are frozen let them defrost for ten minutes then blend them until smooth - banana ice cream. It tastes delicious, much nicer than you would imagine banana puree would taste!

Banana tarte tatin www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/banana-tarte-tatin

Banana blondies cookiesandcups.com/banana-blondies/. You can try adding peanut butter and/or chocolate chips for another twist

These banana choc chip muffins are the best....they don't last long in our house as they get hoovered up very quickly!

Banana ice cream could be a good idea. I've 7/8. I bought some extra for my mum then didn't get to drop them to her.

Banana flap jacks. Same as normal flapjacks but you don't need quite as much golden syrup.

Or banana ice cream - basically whizz them up in some milk then freeze the mixture. Can also add chocolate powder or chocolate spread.

Leflic · 18/04/2020 22:03

I just melt butter and brown sugar in a frying pan and then cook the bananas in it. Makes yummy warm toffee bananas. Serve with ice cream.
I think you can add rum too for an adult version but I’m not wasting alcohol on a pudding.

Yesterdayforgotten · 18/04/2020 22:04

Banana cookies!

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 18/04/2020 22:07

Think they are a bit mushy for that Leflic but I will add that to the list for less over ripe ones.

I've never heard of banana cookies, Yesterdayforgotten. Can you share a recipe?

The 'banana ice cream' is even better if you blend in some Nutella, or frozen raspberries.

They are yummy and a nice change from banana bread and cake!

AuntyClockWise · 18/04/2020 22:18

Search Netmums Nutella and banana muffins. We love them!

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 18/04/2020 22:19

They sound great, I'll try them tomorrow. Thanks Yesterdayforgotten.

Then make a list for the rest of the suggestions Wink

I had some mushy ones and put them in flapjacks with some dried cranberries. Would recommend!

Banana and caramel muffins?

KellyHall · 18/04/2020 22:21

Banana, egg, tiny bit of self raising flour all in blender = yummy banana pancakes. Spread with nutella while still warm.
