Please tell me what buggies you recommend?
DD will be 3 when new baby comes, I don't think at 3 I'll need a double pram. I've been having a look at a travel system that includes a toddler seat or stand?
Can anyone recommend what they used please.

Thanks!

I had dd1 mostly on foot when dd2 was born. Considered a ride on step thingy but never got round to buying one.

I used to take the baby carrier too though so I could put dd2 in there, and dd1 in the buggy if needed (don't remember doing that though so can't have been often).

The Phil and teds one - you just get a toddler seat so can easily be for just baby, just toddler or both.

BumTitTit25 · 16/04/2020 10:57

We used a meego buggy seat. They are brilliant and everyone commented on it when we were out and about

We used a buggy board which you just attach to the pram or pushchair. My eldest was just over 2 when my youngest was born and I would highly recommend it.

Umnoway · 16/04/2020 11:01

The bugaboo donkey fixes this issue because it can be converted back into a single when you no longer need the second seat. Failing that, they sell buggy boards with a seat.

Oliversmumsarmy · 16/04/2020 11:11

I had a nearly 2 year old and a newborn.

I bought a double buggy but only used it a couple of times.
Ended up with a buggy board attached to the pram

TwistyHair · 16/04/2020 11:13

We used a buggy board too. Much easier than a double buggy although they’re a bit annoying to walk with.

thewinkingprawn · 16/04/2020 11:14

We got the Phil and Ted’s and never used it. 3 year old went on foot (happened twice as I have 3 children with 3 years between each). Buggy board on back of bugaboo did get used a bit.

randomsabreuse · 16/04/2020 11:15

We didn't really use a buggy with DC1 but highly recommend a single with a sling that packs down small enough to go in the basket. Then 3 yo can walk when they "need" to and if you need to get somewhere baby can go in the sling and 3yo in buggy upright and you don't get impeded by the buggy board trying to bite your ankles!

Treanor · 16/04/2020 11:16

My 3 year old walked and the baby went in the pushchair we already had but I don't drive and my 3 year old was use to walking long distances.

minipie · 16/04/2020 11:17

I had a double buggy for a 2.5 year age gap but only because my older one hated walking and was still napping. I had a phil and teds (didn’t like it) and a nipper 360 (amazing).

For a 3 year age gap and older one not napping I would say buggy board. Maybe one with a little seat on it. Do you already have a buggy that would work with a buggy board?

EchoLimaYankee · 16/04/2020 11:19

I bought a second hand Phil and Ted’s for times when it would be necessary to have the two in the pushchair. The idea being that the most likely time would be walks and the Phil and Ted’s are good for off pavement walks.

user1493413286 · 16/04/2020 11:19

I had a bugaboo already so just got a buggy board that comes with a little seat. I also got a sling which has been more useful as it makes me more free to manage DD if she isn’t co operating with the buggy board or holding the buggy

CeeceeBloomingdale · 16/04/2020 11:21

They just walked everywhere as they were used to doing that. They were nearer 4 though.

CXG1 · 16/04/2020 11:24

3 year old usually walks or goes on bike/scooter. Occasionally, if we're going for a long walk on an evening etc he goes in the the stroller we used to just use for holidays and baby goes in either the sling or pram. He's not overly fussed on the pram so usually sling.

Sauvignonblanket · 16/04/2020 11:27

We didn't need a double buggy - just a buggy board for the pram. Usually the 3yo walked but this was good for when they got tired.

DMCWelshcakes · 16/04/2020 11:37

Buggy board. And took a stroller for days out where both of them would need to be in a pushchair. DH would push one & I'd push the other. And a scooter for trips to the park.

Hercwasonaroll · 16/04/2020 11:42

Buggy board here for a just 3yo and newborn.

shazkevincarrotlover · 16/04/2020 11:55

Depends if the 3yr old is a good walker.
I had my twins when ds1 was 2yrs 10mths he just walked everywhere as I already had to have a double pram Wink

RhymingRabbit3 · 16/04/2020 11:55

I currently have a 3 year old and a 3 week old. Buggy boards seem pretty rubbish and make the buggy much harder to fold and steer. I didnt want to spend hundreds on a double buggy which would hardly be used.

We've got a pushchair which can convert from carrycot to seat. 3yo can walk pretty well so she just walks and if she gets tired she can go in the pushchair and baby goes in sling/baby carrier.

Soubriquet · 16/04/2020 11:58

I had a double out n about when my just turned two year old became a big sister.

However, she wanted to walk and we ended up trading it for a single.

But then she got lazy. However, the hood was strong enough that I would sit her on the top and push it around with her on it with ds in the seat. She even fell asleep on it a couple of times.

I had a newborn and a just 2 year old. Kept the Stokke for the 2 year old and used a sling for the newborn. Bought a buggy board for occasional use.

Equimum · 16/04/2020 12:21

We had a buggy that the seat could go completely flat for a newborn. DS1 was mostly walking by then, but I always took the sling out with us. If DS1 got too tired to walk, or it wasn’t safe, he jumped into he buggy and DS2 went in the sling. Worked perfectly fo is.

tanqueray10 · 16/04/2020 12:30

Another vote for a buggy board! Fab

fiorentina · 16/04/2020 13:08

We had a buggy board we used once. Ds 3 scooted usually or walked.
