Delivery slots

Sorry if I'm rambling, I'm tired, stayed up on purpose and struggling. I'm not sure if this is even in the right place, my search doesn't seem to be working properly either so apologies if there are already recent threads on this.

Does anyone know where I can get a food delivery slot for in 2 weeks time or what time I need to check certain sites? I usually shop at aldi and do an online shop with either ocado/tesco every couple of months but I'm unable to get to aldi now as the person who used to give me a lift is isolating with symptoms. It's far too far to walk and I'm disabled so can't carry a lot. My 5yo is immunosuppressed (but not classed as vulnerable enough for a priority slot) so would prefer not to shop at local shops, though a lot are closed/not allowing children in anyway. Can anyone advise of anywhere I can get a slot for after the 20th (where they don't take the money until delivery day or a few days before as that's when I get paid)?

Thanks so much in advance

My Asda are booking the dates for the 20th. They charge your card a penny but take the full amount on the day they deliver your order.

Hi hunni,

Have you tried Morrison’s? They usually add slots in the morning 6/7am.

Alternatively when I’ve been unable to get slots I’ve looked online for local butchers or fresh fruit and veg places the deliver and can usually get these booked a Couple of days before I need them. The fruit and veg people also do a box which includes eggs, milk, bread and butter etc.
I know maybe not ideal but we’ve had to do this the odd week to get by.

Hope this helps :)

Nightowl92 · 13/04/2020 01:48

If you have Facebook you may find a local page for your town/city and usually people have been posting local butchers, fruit and veg places and stores that deliver on there.

JustStayHome · 13/04/2020 02:17

Tesco.

You get in the Q anywhere from about 11.30pm and then hope for the best.

Get ur slot.
Add two things, checkout, so the slot is saved and then you can go back on there , any time before the night before

Have you tried applying online with the government for you / your daughter?

Theflushedzebra · 13/04/2020 02:24

Tesco release their slots at midnight apparently. I've heard Iceland ave slots - and they add slots throughout the day - but only 5 days in advance. So if you can't get a tesco slot in the nest week or so, try there.

Good luck - it is a nightmare for people who struggle to shop or who can't leave the house now.

Morrisons and M&S deliver basic food boxes too, if you're really struggling.

JustStayHome · 13/04/2020 02:27

Tescos next slots are for the 2nd May....

I think!

Randomly checked Tesco around 7:30am Sunday morning (Easter day) and Tesco Gad slots for delivery every day from Tuesday through to Sunday 19th. I would check at random times over the next few days as different supermarkets add slots at random times.

Morrisons you have to queue to get one to even register (if not already a member) Sainsbury’s are only taking on vulnerable customers at the moment and are using the government list although, if you meet the criteria but haven’t received the letter yet, they will allow you to register then will check the government list later. Asda seem to add slots throughout the day but are o my adding 7 days at a time at the moment and Iceland can be random times too if you live in their delivery area. Ocado aren’t taking on new customers at the moment but, if registered with them, they open whatever slots are still available to general customers around 6pm daily - but you have to wait for the message to change on their website.

Good luck getting a slot x

Try the Morrison’s food boxes - www.morrisons.com/food-boxes/boxes . No queue, usually plenty of delivery slots. You don’t choose contents but they have 5 different boxes and they have been really good.

pinkoneblueone · 13/04/2020 06:49

I managed to book for asda On the 20th at 5am this morning I have found times that slots open to be varied

Veronicat · 13/04/2020 06:57

My Asda have slots for next Monday at the moment. I find trying around 3-5am is the best time.

twinmum2017 · 13/04/2020 07:03

Asda's are released at 10pm

NotJustACigar · 13/04/2020 08:00

Try looking on Facebook for a mutual aid group in your area who will have volunteers who will help get your shopping in. Also many smaller shops are doing deliveries now who never used to so try ringing your local greengrocer, butcher etc.

KatherineJaneway · 13/04/2020 08:04

Randomly checked Tesco around 7:30am Sunday morning (Easter day) and Tesco Gad slots for delivery every day from Tuesday through to Sunday 19th.

Snap. I managed to secure one (not for me) but they are all gone again now in that area anyway.

Meruem · 13/04/2020 08:07

I don’t think Tesco do release at midnight, maybe some. But yesterday I checked Tesco at around 2pm, nothing for three weeks, I checked again a little after 3pm, suddenly the whole of today was showing up available. So I quickly booked a slot to come between 3 and 4pm today.

BullshitVivienne · 13/04/2020 08:09

Click and collect seems to be a bit easier to get in my experience - for ASDA.

RhymingRabbit3 · 13/04/2020 08:13

Do you know anyone else who could give you a lift? Or ask your neighbours or on local facebook page - there might be someone who has to drive right past your house to go to aldi and could just take you on the way.

winniesanderson · 13/04/2020 08:20

It is worth constantly checking throughout the day and trying different shops if you can. I've had luck getting click and collects from both Tesco and Asda at various times of the day. Got an Asda one a few evenings ago at around 8.30pm, a Tesco one a week or so before at around 2.30pm. I just keep checking. I have seen home delivery slots at similar times. There's also Iceland if you have one near by.

FlamingoAndJohn · 13/04/2020 08:23

Have you tried Ocado given that you have used them in the past?
They seem to have loads of slots.

It's worth a try. Ocado regular customers seem to be getting slots now, or at least some of them.

FlamingoAndJohn · 13/04/2020 08:35

I just went on and there were three days full of slots. They where there yesterday as well.

SpillTheTeaa · 13/04/2020 08:38

I've managed to get two Asda collections in the last 2 weeks but that is only by looking at about 2pm... that seems to be the better time. They also don't take the money until the day of collection.
If you could get a collection could you pay for a taxi to collect your shopping for the collect point and bring it to you? My dad is a cabby and he's done this a few times.
Also try Iceland they seem to be doing next day on some if you look in the afternoon

Yellowbutterfly1 · 13/04/2020 08:41

Most Ocado smart pass holders can’t get slots and they are supposed to have been prioritised so I would bother trying them

Likethebattle · 13/04/2020 11:11

Not all are rehearsed at midnight. Sainsbury’s are store specific (I know someone who for them) different stores do it at different times. You have to constantly stalk them.

ancientoak · 13/04/2020 11:32

Thanks to all on here. Read this thread around 07.00. Had never considered Morrisons ! Went on their website , registered, and got a slot immediately. Not until May 3 but much better than nothing. Ta M'ner's

CanIHaveAPenguinPlease · 13/04/2020 16:46

Morrison’s is only showing me for up to Thursday? Not sure what I’m doing wrong.
