50 sodding pages about a hedgehog doing laundry!

Aw. Mrs Tiggywinkle was one of my favourites!

She is comfortingly motherly.

Windyatthebeach · 12/04/2020 18:11

She is great in the film Peter Rabbit!!

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 12/04/2020 18:14

Mr Men books. I fucking HATE them. HATE THEM. They are dull as dishwater and 83 pages long

PurpleBlueAnemone · 12/04/2020 18:14

Pigling Bland is.......bland. And too long.

PurpleBlueAnemone · 12/04/2020 18:15

Squirrel one is a bit odd.

PurpleBlueAnemone · 12/04/2020 18:15

My favourite of all time is The Tale of Two Bad Mice.

PurpleBlueAnemone · 12/04/2020 18:16

Ooooh or Samuel Whiskers

INeedNewShoes · 12/04/2020 18:16

I agree about Tiggywinkle and about Mr Men!

TeddyIsaHe · 12/04/2020 18:16

The fucking Princess Poppy books, twee, sexist, classist BOLLOCKS.

Of course someone bought dd one and she loved it so she gets one for everything birthday and xmas. I have to hide them because they make me rage.

sadpapercourtesan · 12/04/2020 18:16

Shock Mrs Tiggywinkle was one of my absolute favourites as a child.

And Mr Mean is one of the funniest stories ever written.

Yy to Pigling Bland being weird, and dull. Also the one about the pie and the pattypan Confused

YangShanPo · 12/04/2020 18:19

Aw I love Mrs Tiggywinkle for its old fashioned charm and the lovely pictures, but my dd never liked it.

All the Beatrix Potter books are twee, boring and written as if to appeal to some peculiar, idealised version of a child instead of an actual child. The pictures are pretty though.

Chemenger · 12/04/2020 18:22

Rainbow Fairies or what ever they were called. About 150 000 books all with the same plot about Jack Frost.

stickman12 · 12/04/2020 18:22

Little grey rabbit books! Terrible and so hard to read

Rubyroost · 12/04/2020 18:23

Well I was that idealised version of a child then?! J loved tinggwinkle.

And my childhood was less than ideal, as a result I don't think I was an idealised version of a child. Hmm

lifestooshort123 · 12/04/2020 18:24

Thomas the Tank Engine books - yawn. Neither my son or grandson could work up any enthusiasm.

Lordfrontpaw · 12/04/2020 18:24

How dare you! 🦔

Wired4sound · 12/04/2020 18:31

We’re going on a bear hunt - what a load of bollocks

Spied · 12/04/2020 18:37

Love Mrs.Tiggywinkle. Love all the Beatrix Potters.

PP is correct in saying 'Bear hunt' is crap.
Complete tosh. All the hype.. utterly dire.

GinWithASplashOfTonic · 12/04/2020 18:39

I love love love mrs twiggywinkle

mangomama91 · 12/04/2020 18:40

@Ihopeyousteponalegopiece
Agree!!
I used to love them as a child, but I can't read them as an adult, so so dull to read!

StampMc · 12/04/2020 18:42

Thomas the tank engine books
Mr Men
Bear hunt
Hungry caterpillar

Mrs tiggywinkle is no Samuel whiskers or two bad mice but there are far worse and at least it has delightful illustrations

Cosyblanky · 12/04/2020 18:46

Definitely Thomas the Tank engine is the most boring book ever. We're Going on a Bear Hunt is at least short and has a rhythm!

soundsystem · 12/04/2020 18:48

Fair point about Mr Men. I can't stand them either. We've mostly managed to avoid them (they are "gran's house" books!)

I can't seem to get along with any Beatrix Potter. Except Ginger and Pickles, it's quite amusing!
