What are you doing over easter weekend?

OP posts:
isittheholidaysyet · 08/04/2020 14:25

Hmm. Might start in the lounge, move to the kitchen, then go to the dining room!

Seriously though, we're Christians and usually attend church 5 times between Thurs and Sun (plus a couple of rehearsals and a shared table meal). So this is going to be a really different year.

Vicar DH will spend most of the time planning, then live streaming/zooming services, uploading then etc etc.
I'm going to do lots of crafts and activities with the kids and watching lots of church on TV.

Easter Sunday planning a beef joint I bought and froze at christmas and we'll do a long and complicated Easter egg treasure hunt around the house.

Will phone the relatives. An elderly relative has a birthday and she is on her own.

Probably watch a film and play some board games.

Eat chocolate, drink alcohol.

Tell the kids to stop walking around the house with a tablet in one hand and headphones on. That kind of thing.

Windyatthebeach · 08/04/2020 14:28

Traditional fish in parsley sauce dinner Friday and a beach walk...
Bbq Sunday and another beach walk.
Only me/dh and dc as usual anyway...
Beach deserted where we are.
May even have a roller skate with dd's!!
Blush
May need alcohol by Monday though!!

zelbazinnamon · 08/04/2020 14:29

No idea really. DH is NHS so bank holidays Friday & Monday no longer apply, so that will just be me & the kids. We gave up meat for lent so will have roast dinner for the first time since Shrove Tuesday! And an Easter egg hunt. Thinking of doing some egg rolling too.

NaughtyLittleElf · 08/04/2020 14:37

I'm working on Friday, I'm NHS staff so the bank holiday is effectively cancelled, I'm hoping to be off on Saturday, Sunday and Monday, but I'm on standby for the whole weekend.

I've started a spring clean, I haven't seen DP since before lockdown and my DC are teens so I'm keeping myself occupied when I'm not working cleaning out cupboards and doing a deep clean.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 08/04/2020 14:58

I'm going to the supermarket tomorrow. Already bought Easter eggs for DS so I'm going to treat myself to a bottle of Baileys and a box of chocolates for the weekend.

On Friday DS and I are going to bake cookies. We'll watch a few films over the weekend, play board games. I'm doing an Easter egg hunt for DS on the Sunday and I'll cook a roast. Then having a virtual party on zoom with my friends as one of them turns 30 that day.

hannabarbera · 08/04/2020 15:55

Friday and Saturday im painting. Sunday a roast (like we do most weekends), monday a long run.

Kids? No idea, probably sleeping and playing football

mindproject · 08/04/2020 16:02

Probably lots and lots of reading. I might get a bit crafty with DD and play some games; we will probably do some baking and a bike ride or two. We are not Christians so Easter is a normal day for us, with an egg or two.

MonkeyToesOfDoom · 08/04/2020 16:06

Movies, shit food, pizza delivery Saturday night... Standard Saturday tbh.

LittleAndOften · 08/04/2020 16:07

Dunno. I might just stay in this year.

bruce43mydog · 08/04/2020 16:09

Well there's not much to do.

But I have started my diet so I am using this time to try and get fit.

So lots of walks lots of water. Lots of good food.

But other than that nothing

Peridot1 · 08/04/2020 16:11

Trying to decide between a nice city break somewhere or a few days at the beach. Everywhere seems fairly quiet at the moment so might take advantage. (JOKE)

Planning on more of what we have been doing in reality. DH has been gardening, I’ve been doing stuff in the house - decluttering, cleaning etc. DS is just going from laptop to PlayStation to tv with a bit of running added in.

Some nice food hopefully. A BBQ on Friday I think. We have a leg of lamb in the freezer for Sunday.

A few nice long dog walks will be the extent of my outings.

I’m also planning on reading and doing a jigsaw.

Holothane · 08/04/2020 16:16

Hymns remembering the reason for Easter I love my book of common prayer and devotionals thing, Easter eggs and wishing we are all together at church. I’m really missing our church friends in touch by phone but it’s not the same.

madcatladyforever · 08/04/2020 16:16

Enjoying quality time with the cat who misses me when I am at work.

Doing some absolutely essential paperwork.

I'm a pagan so I conduct my own religious services and don't need to go out for them but the vernal equinox/Ostara is not until the 20th.

The garden needs weeding so I may commune with nature out there and wonder why the previous owner planted three big pear trees right up against the fence which will fall down if they get any bigger.

Plant my new climbing rose, I am doing my monthly shop at Morrisons tomorrow morning so I'm praying they have some compost or I will have to do without.

I have a gazillion craft projects on the go so I will do some of those.

I will skype my sisters and catch up with them.

madcatladyforever · 08/04/2020 16:19

@ WindyattheBeach Traditional fish in parsley sauce dinner Friday and a beach walk...

THANK YOU, I was wondering what on earth to do with my surfeit of fish. I will do this Smile

LibrettoCornetto · 08/04/2020 16:20

Certainly nothing religious!
Chocolatey teasure hunt in garden for DC.

BiddyPop · 08/04/2020 16:48

I'm taking time off work.
We have to paint DD's room which means moving all the furniture.
I want to finally get some crafting done.
I have plans to make a spectacular Easter cake - lots of chocolate and I got some small eggs for decorating it in lieu of proper easter eggs.
We will have a nice meal or 2 - possibly BBQ in the back garden if we can get gas, or I can persuade DH that my little camping charcoal BBQ is sufficient for 3 of us (yes it is, he just won't go camping so hasn't seen it in action).

And I will catch up on sleep. And maybe some reading. And finish clearing out the kitchen cupboards (still have 3 to do).

Ragwort · 08/04/2020 16:53

Probably the same as every day at the moment Grin. On line work out, long walk, bit of housework, Mumsnet, nice meals and a few glasses of wine. Currently sitting in the garden in the sun so that is pleasant.

I am furloughed so won’t make any difference to me but DH is WFH so will enjoy the break ... longer walks & bike rides (not on the same day of course Grin).

Zisforstripyoss · 08/04/2020 16:56

Working! Day shifts on both Easter Sunday and Easter Monday. My DC have taken to sleeping late, so they'll hopefully be up for my breaktime (I'm wfh) so I can see them and give them our eggs in the morning. I've spoiled them a bit as they won't have the usual ones from family.

I will also be setting them up an egg hunt on the Sunday after I've finished work and we'll find an Easter related film to watch.

We'll be having our lamb roast on the Saturday.

SnuggyBuggy · 08/04/2020 16:57

Hoping to get hold of some nice food and treats but it's probably going to be just another couple of days in lock down

LaurieFairyCake · 08/04/2020 16:57

Off to the Bahamas for me holibobs

BatleyTownswomensGuild · 08/04/2020 18:17

Stripping wallpaper in the spare room (aided by the health-giving properties of egg-shaped chocolate Grin)

The80sweregreat · 08/04/2020 18:22

Nothing much!
I would love to go out for fish and chips up there seafront. I'm a cheap date.

WhatWouldYouDoWhatWouldJesusDo · 08/04/2020 18:31

Eating 💁🏻‍♀️

Aposterhasnoname · 08/04/2020 18:39

Friday and Saturday are forecast to be warm, so garden and alcohol will feature heavily. Sunday will be chocolate for breakfast and lunch, then roast beef dinner, with more alcohol and a backdrop of old epic films, I’m hoping for Ben Hur, perhaps Spartacus, or my absolute fav, the Ten Commandments.

Monday I’ll shift my fat, alcohol soaked arse into gear and sort the house out. Planning to clear out my wardrobe, and kitchen cupboards and attack the mould on the shower seals.

Bringringbring12 · 08/04/2020 18:52

Excited about it!
Single parent of two primary children. I’ve promised a fiendishly complicated Easter egg hunt.

Nice lunch, decent walk, home for a game and a film. Pretty similar to most of our days this Easter hol! (Egg Hunt aside).

Missing my brother who was going to join but other than that - looking forward to to a bit of a celebration
