My temp is 35.7/35.8 what does this mean?!

Horehound · 04/04/2020 17:56

I feel hot and a bit tired so thought I'd check my temp to be surprised it's actually 35.7 and I checked on a separate thermometer which came up 35.8
This seems pretty low? Usually I'm around 36.3
What s going on Confused

Your bbt is lower the time between after your period and ovulation. Your temperature is only truly accurate after you've slept for more than four hours as external factors change it throughout the way.

Chanel05 · 04/04/2020 22:34

Day I mean. Is it an oral thermometer? If so, you have to take temperature in the same place under the tongue every day at around the same time for true accuracy too.

Troels · 04/04/2020 22:36

I'm finding most of the staff I check daily are in the mid 35's too, including myself. 35.6 seems to be pretty normal where I work.
Dh never gets to 36 if he does he's ill. He always has run low.

notangelinajolie · 04/04/2020 22:38

Same thermometer.

My temperature of 38.5 - 39 for the best part of 9 days indicates CV. I'm ok now and my temp is now 37. something.

DH temp has been between 34 and 35. I'm more worried about him and his low temperature than my 'fever'

He feels fine. I've been putting the heating on and telling him to wrap up a bit more. Not sure he is remotely interested but I think he should get checked by our GP once the restricted GP services are lifted.

AhoyMrBeaver · 04/04/2020 22:40

I'm usually around 35.5. I don't think it's unusually low, just the lower end of 'nothing to worry about'.

BessMarvin · 04/04/2020 22:41

I'm really surprised by the replies. My husband and children tend to be very low 37s and I'm 36 something so always thought I was unusual. I thought normal body temperature was 37 something.

Chanel05 · 04/04/2020 22:49

Mine fluctuates between 35.5 and 36.8 ish. It's only over 37 now as I'm pregnant. I tracked my temperature daily for nearly two years.

screwcovid19 · 04/04/2020 23:20

A couple of weeks ago I had an upset stomach then a few days later a cough, then sore throat then breathlessness. I checked my temp a couple of times and it was under 36 too.
I really felt quite unwell for 2 weeks.

Titsywoo · 04/04/2020 23:21

Mine is always 35.8.

MoiraRose · 04/04/2020 23:26

Mine is always in the 37 range (I'm also menopausal though and generally quite hot!) but DP is in the 35s generally

SpaceCadet4000 · 05/04/2020 03:07

My temperature gets around that in the first half of my menstrual cycle, my highest values are up to 36.6 after I ovulate. I found out 2 weeks ago that I have hypothyroid due to Hashimoto's and apparently a low temperature can be a symptom. Not everyone with low temperature has an underactive thyroid though.

StinkyWizzleteets · 05/04/2020 03:11

My normal is about 35.3- took my temp a lot ttc

user1471481356 · 05/04/2020 07:59

That is a perfectly normal temperature.

MinesaPinot · 05/04/2020 08:05

DH and I both had our temperature taken at the dentist when we went before lockdown. DH was 36.3 and I was 36.5. I assume that was normal. No-one was concerned.

Horehound · 05/04/2020 09:26

Yeh so I know I'm usually 36.3 but I thought a drop to 35.7 would be concerning :/
Just taken it again and it's 35.8

Do you have any other symptoms that are concerning you alongside the lower temperature? If you are otherwise well I wouldn't find it concerning.

Horehound · 05/04/2020 10:10

I'm exhausted. Even more than yesterday. I'm going back to bed

DD got a temp of 34.9 when she seemed grouchy the other day. I panicked and phoned 111 who suggested somebody else try the thermometer. I did and my temperature was 35 Confused felt like such a timewaster.

If you feel ok, get somebody else to try it before you worry - they can be quite unreliable.

Equimum · 05/04/2020 11:36

What type of thermometer did you use? We always find temperatures are lower on forehead ones than digitalis.

Horehound · 05/04/2020 14:03

These are the two. One from boots with a metal tip on and the others a digital scan one for the ear

My temp is 35.7/35.8 what does this mean?!
