Opened my bottle of nettle gin tonight and it's really nice. I wasn't sure what to expect but it went down a treat xGinHalo

WotnoPasta · 01/04/2020 23:52

Nettle - wasn’t expecting that!

Pink grapefruit 😋

Tanqueray Rangpur. It's not strongly flavoured (which I much prefer) but it is made with lime and mandarin - description from their website:

Tanqueray Rangpur Distilled Gin was first created in 2006 by adding rangpur lime, an exotic citrus fruit from India with the zestiness of lime and the juiciness of mandarin oranges, together with ginger and bay leaves to Tanqueray’s premium London Dry Gin. It is distilled four times to acheive the perfect balance of four classic gin botanicals – refreshing juniper, peppery coriander, aromatic angelica and sweet liquorice. The result of adding rangpur, ginger and bay leaves to the original London Dry is an exotic and juicy gin with a citrus twist and zesty taste. Tanqueray Rangpur Distilled Gin has won several accolades, including a recent silver medal at the 2017 San Francisco Spirits Awards for its rounded but full flavour. Tanqueray Rangpur is ahead of its time. If you are looking to experiment and discover new flavours in gin, try it today!

Parma violet! It's amazing 😁

Raspberry gin with pink lemonade

Mumdiva99 · 02/04/2020 00:06

@samandpoppysmumny me too! A Whitley Neill brand. It's really delicious. Very aromatic but not at all sweet like some raspberry gins can be. I drink my gin with sparkling water as I don't like sweet drinks.

I also have a Gordon's Scicilian Lemon on the go. It's nice in a predictable way - the pink grapefruit though was a lovely surprise as I didn't expect it to be so good. (It was my birthday last week and they were both gifts).

McQueen's Coconut & lime, so good with a good plain tonic. Think Aldi now do their version of this.

WotnoPasta · 02/04/2020 00:09

I looked at that raspberry gin yesterday and didn’t buy it and i am a fool. Probably won’t be in a supermarket for weeks.

@BIWI that sounds tasty to me!

Or - if you can get hold of some rhubarb, you can make your own. DH has done this and it was amazing.

Buy a 1.5 litre of cheap supermarket gin. Pour it into a glass or ceramic bowl.

Buy a packet of rhubarb - wash it, and then cut into inch-long pieces, and add to the gin. Stir, cover and leave for 3-4 days, stirring every now and then.

Then drain the rhubarb off and re-fill the original gin bottle.

No need to add anything else - it's lovely, either with tonic or ginger ale.

You can do the same with raspberries, using a couple of punnets, although you'll need to sieve the raspberries from the gin before re-filling the bottle.

Chesterfuckingdrorrs · 02/04/2020 00:29

@WotnoPasta it's good. Not overly sweet, just nice and refreshing.

I had to have straight it over tons of crushed ice the other night because work had been so utterly shit our shops had no tonic and it was lovely.

Medievalist · 02/04/2020 00:35

There's definitely a shortage of tonic in the shops at the moment - very worrying!

bitchonthepitch · 02/04/2020 00:37

Sloe gin, home made last year.

allyouneedis · 02/04/2020 00:53

Beefeater strawberry Gin, it is delicious 😊

Chesterfuckingdrorrs · 02/04/2020 00:56

@Medievalist I was more worried at the lack of tonic than I was at the lack of toilet paper.

Even the own brand stuff was long gone and I love a bit of cheap Asda tonic thankfully DH managed to stock up today.

SwerfandTurf · 02/04/2020 00:58

I got some of that Tanqueray Rangpur for Christmas, it’s gorgeous.

Currently on Strawberry Gordon’s, which is perfectly serviceable.

WotnoPasta · 02/04/2020 08:54

I should make my own, close to having some empty bottles!

I managed to get some tonic syrup from Amazon, to use in the SodaStream. Haven't had to resort to that yet, as I have a good supply right now! Discovered that our little newsagent had loads, so stocked up there. I prefer the individual cans, for maximum fizziness, but they are like gold dust right now.

Colourmylife1 · 02/04/2020 11:58

Pink Grapefruit and Pomerol. I’m not usually a fan of flavoured gin but this has converted me

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 02/04/2020 12:02

Can I recommend Beerblefish Hopped Gin? Its won the silver medal at the San Francisco World Spirits challenge this year, and is made by a small independent social enterprise. I don't work for them, I just love the product!

iklboo · 02/04/2020 12:03

Raspberry gin
Grapefruit gin
Rhubarb & ginger gin

LonnyVonnyWilsonFrickett · 02/04/2020 12:05

Sevilla, which is orange flavoured. It's all they had in the shop a couple of weeks ago but it's actually really nice.
