What nice flavours of gin are you drinking

I’m on orange and lime from Aldi....
My bottles are looking low, I need new ones.

I like that, but find you can't have too much of it as the flavour is quite pronounced. But at least it's not sweet! Pink gins like Gordon's pink gin is a travesty, I think. Tastes like no added sugar squash. Horrible

LonnyVonnyWilsonFrickett · 02/04/2020 12:08

Not being able to have too much is an advantage in my lockdown state BIWI!

BIWI · 02/04/2020 12:25
Grin

I know. It's terribly tempting, isn't it? We're back to not drinking 3 days a week, having gone a bit mad over the last couple of weeks.

Watermelon. Its ok but i wouldn't buy it again.
Before that was a Blueberry one which is lovely.

I see gordons are bringing out a white peach which sounds amazing.

LooQoo · 02/04/2020 12:38

I wasn’t too keen on Watermelon either, the one I had was very sugary.

I do like the more bitter ones like Grapefruit though.

ChittyChittyBoomBoom · 02/04/2020 12:58

Lidl’s pink gin is exactly the same as Gordon’s! Aldi’s is ok but nowhere near.

OldUnit · 02/04/2020 13:20

I saw a bottle of Whitley Neill Gooseberry Gin in Morrisons yesterday. Should have bought it! Looked lovely...

Normalmumandwife · 02/04/2020 13:42

Anything I can get my hands on !

HighNetGirth · 02/04/2020 14:00

Sip smith lemon. Very, very nice. I can’t countenance anything sweet so this is a good option.

IncyWincyGrownUp · 02/04/2020 15:40

Hendricks, Empress, or Violet. All with tonic and ice.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 02/04/2020 15:51

Aber Falls Orange Marmalade Gin is deeelish

Daet · 02/04/2020 16:19

I never thought I’d discover a gin I didn’t like but the Parma violet one did it for me!

Currently drinking a strawberry and lime one, but my all time favourite is good old tanqueray. I once had a pear drop flavoured gin which was fab but I’ve never found it again.

Daet · 02/04/2020 16:20

Er when I say “currently”, I don’t mean right this minute. Although actually ...

Freeshavocado · 02/04/2020 16:24

@OldUnit I've currently got the gooseberry gin (bought when it was on offer in Morrison's) and it's delicious.

Also got my all time favourite Didsbury raspberry and elderflower on the go and Tanqueray Sevilla, OP how recently did you buy the orange and lime from Aldi? I started buying that instead of Tanqueray Sevilla as it's just as good but then it suddenly disappeared round here at the end of last summer, as I had to make a special trip to Aldi to buy it I stopped going but would be tempted to go and get some if it's back!

I hate Gordon's plain gin but tempted to try their lemon one, there's a lovely Malfy lemon one served in Wetherspoons which I can't find in shops anywhere.

LooQoo · 02/04/2020 16:26

Ahem @daet and others... Fess up who’s had a nice gin and tonic in the afternoon while working from home furloughed?

I’ll go first Smile

Smellbellina · 02/04/2020 16:28

Rhubarb and pink grapefruit - Aldi special - very nice!

GuyFawkesDay · 02/04/2020 16:32

Gordon's Sicilian Lemon. Delicious.
Or Masons Yorkshire tea edition.

GuyFawkesDay · 02/04/2020 16:34

Sainsbury's orange and blossom is s great buy at £16

LooQoo · 02/04/2020 16:35

Ooh, Mason’s Yorkshire Tea flavour gin sounds delish. Where do I buy that?

AuntieMarys · 02/04/2020 16:39

I'm not over keen on flavoured gin as I find it too sweet but I like Malfy grapefruit and Tanqueray Sevilla.
Masons Yorkshire tea is good too.
I've got a Craft Gin box arriving tomorrow...excited!

Daet · 02/04/2020 16:48

LooQoo just you and me by the looks of it ... :)

Daet · 02/04/2020 16:50

My friend told me that Co-op gins are good. I will selflessly put this to the test as soon as I can.

Started with Brockmans gin which is the definition of gin for me. Once you've had that it's hard to move past it.
Saying that. Edinburgh rhubarb and ginger with ginger ale is pretty close to heaven too.

APurpleSquirrel · 02/04/2020 17:08

Love Sainsbury's Rose & Pomegranate.
Also last year loved the Quince one from Whitley Neill. Might try the Gooseberry one.
