I just have to wear shoes (lighthearted)

Still too cold.
My lovely snuggly Celtic house boots first thing, socks and light indoor shoes later.

DappledThings · 01/04/2020 08:15

Socks and slippers at the moment because it's cold. Even had a hot water bottle on top of them at my desk last week!

But OP I'm fascinated. Do you actually go and put shoes on when not leaving the house? Leaving them on after getting back in I can get but I can't imagine actually putting shoes on without the intention to go outside. That's really weird!

AHippoNamedBooBooButt · 01/04/2020 08:33

We have always been a bare foot house although dh does have slippers. If it's very cold and draughty I might wear fluffy socks but 99% of the time barefoot.
Sometimes I've even been known to be barefoot at work Shock my feet like to be free

skippy67 · 01/04/2020 08:33

We're always barefoot in our house. Occasionally socks if it's really really cold.

anothernotherone · 01/04/2020 09:33

I have indoor trainers for work - white soled trainers, as you might have for the gym or something. They've never been worn outdoors. I work in a supported living household. The residents are quick to say something if anyone wears outdoor shoes in the house but we're also only covered by insurance if wearing "stable" shoes...

Having a specific pair of indoor shoes is less weird than walking around indoors in the shoes you wear outdoors in many ways.

I prefer no shoes though, at home.

ErrolTheDragon · 01/04/2020 09:55

I have indoor trainers for if I'm doing a high impact workout or using the rowing machine.

Gardening clogs by the back door, and a pair of bright green crocs (bought for DD when she had a phase of liking bright green) at the front.Grin

I hate wearing socks and shoes. I will pop on a pair of slippers if I get chilly but as soon as my feet warm up I take them off. Can't stand having my feet under the duvet either at night.

YDYtrue · 01/04/2020 10:18

Socks

  1. because it’s cold
  2. because my children shed crumbs (despite only eating at the table or at least only being supposed to eat at the tableAngry) and nothing gives me the rage more than getting bits stuck to my feet as I walk around the house
stuntbanana · 01/04/2020 10:26

Always bare feet at home , nice oak floors and carpet upstairs that is cleaned most days

Oldraver · 01/04/2020 10:28

I do a lot as I can never find my footwear. Though usually end up putting on socks as I have cold feet

I try and wear Birkinstock alikes as they are better for my feet than flat slippers

PurpleCrazyHorse · 01/04/2020 10:53

Enforced slipper (with socks) wearing as I'm not putting on the heating during the day unless absolutely necessary! Jumpers are also compulsory here too Grin

Once the weather warms up I have some old Birkenstocks that I wear around the house and popping out to the garage etc. Often also worn with socks!!!

BearSoFair · 01/04/2020 10:58

Nooo, I hate bare feet! Always socks or slippers here. DS1 sometimes goes barefoot on the carpet but even he puts flip flops on in the kitchen/bathroom, can't be doing with bare feet slapping on lino. (I do realise it's a very strange thing to feel so strongly about!)

QuixoticQuokka · 01/04/2020 11:00

I wear socks, it's not cold enough for slippers. Wearing outside shoes in the house is grim though.

VeryShortNotice · 01/04/2020 11:13

I love being barefoot. So does DS, who whips his socks off at any opportunity.

If I’m wearing tights I’ll just go around the house on them, but otherwise I’ll usually be barefoot at home. I never wear shoes in the house and would never want to wear slippers. I don’t think I’ve ever owned any slippers (I’ve certainly never bought them for my kids).

We have mostly hard floors in the house; I don’t see this as a barrier to being barefoot.

ExclamationPerfume · 01/04/2020 11:19

Always barefoot even hang the washing out and take the bins out like it. I hate the feeling of shoes.

EBearhug · 01/04/2020 11:24

Barefoot whenever possible, including when I'm in the office at my desk. Currently socks for warmth.

BiddyPop · 01/04/2020 11:26

No, thick socks in either slippers or proper shoes here! Floors too cold yet, it's still barely spring, and I am in and out to the back garden, bins, and my daily walk etc so need shoes a lot still.

Tulipstulips · 01/04/2020 11:28

Barefoot or socks. Slippers in the kitchen (cold floors!).

20viona · 01/04/2020 11:28

Never , socks and slippers

Qgardens · 01/04/2020 11:29

Barefoot or socks. Can't stand slippers so shoes are decidedly weird.

Frankiecandle · 01/04/2020 11:31

Always barefoot in the house, and garden when it's warm enough.

Eeyoresstickhouse · 01/04/2020 11:39

I am going to struggle when this is all over and socks and shoes will be expected at work! That and a bra.

Rockbird · 01/04/2020 11:52

Lovely cosy slippers which change to flip flops in the warmer weather.

IceKitten · 01/04/2020 11:59

Honestly if it's warm enough to go barefoot I'd say you're keeping your house too warm!

iklboo · 01/04/2020 12:01

I hate shoes. They're the first thing to come off when I get home (bra next). Socks it is, unless it's very warm. Cat socks.
