Who's having a takeaway and wine this evening then?

I bloody well am...life is a bit crap at the moment so I need stuff to look forward to.

Tonight it's getting the kids to be, ordering a curry and drinking wine on the sofa.

OP posts:

Sadly no takeaway for me! I'm in NZ and takeaways have been banned. So it's cooking every night for the next 4 weeks for me!

Pumpkinbell · 27/03/2020 20:27

Not us OP settled for cheese and crackers! Promised our DD7 that when this is all over we will go out anywhere she likes for a meal though (couldn’t have her 7th birthday party and she’s missing grandparents) as it seemed nice to have something to look forward to when current restrictions are lifted. You enjoy your curry and wind though hope its nice. 🥂😄

@itstrue

Kia kaha! Hopefully Friday night kai will be back on the menu sooner rather than later.

itssquidstella · 27/03/2020 20:55

No takeaway here (we had mince to use up!) but I'm having wine. Not that I can taste it...sense of smell is totally gone 😭

middleager · 27/03/2020 20:56

I made homemade pizzas and they were delicious. I froze some dough while you could still get flour.

Last of my wine but have found a local vineyard that will deliver.

FizzyPink · 27/03/2020 20:59

@middleager do you have your pizza dough recipe? DP keeps telling me he wants to bake something but is culinary abilities are somewhat limited Hmm

ShesGotBetteDavisEyes · 27/03/2020 21:03

Decided not to get one as we had one last Friday and then I was having anxiety about germs! Made a slimming world chicken curry instead and now feel very virtuous Grin

Crabonastick · 27/03/2020 21:04

Hoping that the delivery options available to us are also stocking bottles of wine, they’d be missing a trick if they aren’t!

stayingaliveisawayoflife · 27/03/2020 21:09

Uber eats had a nightmare tonight! They charged me twice and my husbands order took over an hour with three separate drivers!

Still nice to have it available though.

crustycrab · 27/03/2020 21:13

Nothing would make me eat a takeaway now and my wine gut is gonna thank me for that.

Cheers 🥂

Cherrysoup · 27/03/2020 22:13

Yup, Indian where staff were wearing masks and keeping a social distance.

MrsJBaptiste · 27/03/2020 22:23

Started on the wine at 5pm and was so looking forward to a curry but they're shut. Gutted. DS2 got his GF Dominos but we had to settle with random takeaway burgers as we couldn't get a curry 😣

shinynewapple2020 · 27/03/2020 22:33

We had ours on Wednesday as DH was off work while they disinfected the premises. He's back in today working lates so frozen pizza for us. But yes we've had wine. I think hot food like curry is fine, less so buying a ready made sandwich or something like a burger or pizza you eat with your hands (I read this somewhere today)

TheWordmeister · 27/03/2020 22:38

Yes! We have had a huge and ridiculous curry. We had to wait over 1,5 hours for it to be delivered, but it was delish.

Pishposhpashy · 27/03/2020 22:44

We had a curry last night, it was gorgeous.

MintyMabel · 27/03/2020 23:40

Dh has banned takeaways

Aren’t you an adult capable of making decisions?

Robin233 · 28/03/2020 03:46

Had lovely glass of red and then cooked Spag Bol.
Now I'm awake as alcohol does that sometimes - worth it after this week.

MsTSwift · 28/03/2020 05:36

Sorry I think they are too risky.

Knocksomesense · 28/03/2020 06:03

@MintyMabel yes I make my own decisions but wouldn't you agree it would be selfish of me to order take out when DH is very concerned about the risks? His feelings and worries matter to me

Bluesheep8 · 28/03/2020 08:31

Had wine. Plenty of it. No takeaway though as our local chipper is sadly closed. So I made breaded fish, homemade oven chips and mushy peas instead. Twas lovely.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 28/03/2020 08:32

Takeaway curry and Prosecco. Yum.

Bluesheep8 · 28/03/2020 08:34

I did stop to think about the risks of takeaway. However, if you're going into shops for food and picking up a basket and handling items others have touched, surely the risk would be about the same?

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 28/03/2020 08:35

We've got battered fish so I'm gonna make that with chips, mushy peas and tartar sauce. I am tempted to serve it in sheets of craft and tracing paper so it feels like a takeaway Grin

crustycrab · 28/03/2020 10:20

@Bluesheep8 the amount of people that have the virus now is higher than it has been...that will continue to be the case. I think it's more risky to have a stranger actually cook your tea that to pick up a box of cereal, but it and then wash your hands.

You'll never know who has coughed, sneezed or simply talked to the person next to them whilst cooking your takeaway. I couldn't bring myself to eat it (mind you, I'm not going in shops either)

MintyMabel · 28/03/2020 12:26

Only if that risk is reasonable. Which it isn’t.
