Any lockdown birthdays here?

I just thought we could do with a little bit of a lighthearted tread.

It's my birthday on Sunday, so we've decided to have a tea party, have a few drinks and play some board games. I'll just be my parents and I but I'm actually really looking forward to it.

I'll probably have a nice dinner out once everything has calmed down.

How are you planning on celebrating your lockdown birthdays?

My birthday ne t Minday. Had planned a dinner party for this Friday evening. Now it will be me and my kids - if restaurants still doing takeout maybe treat us to something. I'm off alcohol for Lent but allowed on that day only so looking forward to that!

HesMyLobster · 25/03/2020 00:32

DD2 turns 18 in a couple of weeks.
We had a big party planned for the weekend before with family and friends coming from all over.

Then she had a weekend in the city planned the following week with her group of friends - she's the last to turn 18 so they've been waiting and planning it for ages.
Gutted for her but she's putting on a brave face.

I'm hoping we'll be able to have a takeaway still by then.
I like the idea of a pub crawl in the house!

If anybody has any other ideas I'd love to hear them - I want to make it as special as possible for her.

AmICrazyorWhat2 · 25/03/2020 00:39

Yep, mine's in a couple of weeks. It's not a "special" one so I was only thinking of a meal out with friends, but will make do with cake and wine...and I'm not cooking dinner that night!

Mine is on the 2nd, I had no firm plans in place for the day but we were going to be travelling for a family party on the 4th. I'll now stay in with a bottle of something lovely, a meal and maybe games or a film instead.

iloveroastpotatoes · 25/03/2020 11:41

It's my 40th birthday today. Along with so many others, many plans have been cancelled, including a holiday abroad. However, I have a wonderful family who bought gifts and cards, have been contacted by my family and friends and I'm enjoying lashings of tea in the sunshine.

We will have a takeaway this evening and I will enjoy a belated birthday party in the summer (hopefully). Smile

Whenwillthewashingend · 25/03/2020 11:49

It was my Birthday on Mother's Day, and a family member forgot because of everything going on. I wasn't bothered though as my Husband got me a McDonald's for tea.
I feel for my Son who has Autism. He is 18 on the 20th of April, and I was going to do him a special tea party with all the people he's comfortable with.
We will still try and do something at home with just the 4 of us.

BasilDiffuser · 25/03/2020 12:01

Mine is this weekend. No presents but more fussed about not seeing my twin or my niece.

DD’s is at the end of April. Her first ever party cancelled. She’s 3 so understood about it but hoping she forgets as we’ve managed to get a few presents. Halfords seem to think her bike is still a possibility. So fingers crossed

annabell22 · 25/03/2020 13:27

@SausagesAndMashed mine is Sunday too. It was supposed to be in the school holidays, but now I'll be at work instead. It will be just DH and me and a takeaway, I will Skype my parents and Facetime DD as I live overseas. We would normally have gone out for a meal. I'm not worried about missing out now, we got my present two weeks ago and DH can get a card next time we go food shopping. I just really, really want to spend a few weeks in the UK this summer for the first time in two years and right now I'm not sure that will be possible Sad

Bezalelle · 25/03/2020 13:34

DH is 30 on April 8th. It's going to be a quiet one!

I've ordered £30 of e-vouchers from a local left wing bookshop that he can use when all this has blown over.

Cyclewidow46 · 25/03/2020 13:36

4 birthdays here.
Mine 4th April, DD 11th, DS12th and DD 13th.
We're all adults though so understand things will be very understated this year. Luckily DD's 18th and my 50th was last year and no 'landmark' birthdays this year.
It is what is, we'll survive 🤞

BentNeckLady · 25/03/2020 13:38

I’m 40 in May. Massive garden party planned and cancelled.

I’m gutted tbh :(

MegaClutterSlut · 25/03/2020 13:46

DS's 18th on sunday. May order in a takeaway, few drinks, film and games maybe not quite the piss up he had planned

Dh is 40 tomorrow. Already got cake, card, presents and balloons.
Will skype relatives in the morning.

Curious78 · 26/03/2020 09:54

My DD will be 4 in two weeks, we'll be celebrating it just the two of us! She doesn't know that her party was cancelled 🤫

BogRollBOGOF · 26/03/2020 11:48

DS will be 7 over Easter. I bought all his presents (and Easter Eggs) about 10 days ago as I was concerned that we were brewing towards a lockdown by then.

Fortunately I was a bit slow to plan a party and by the time I was approaching time to get my head in gear, it was looking dodgy to risk making plans. At least he didn't want a big one, and he's been very accepting that he will have to wait until this situation calms down.

Unprecedentedusername · 26/03/2020 12:06

I’m significant birthday on April 6th and our majestic wine order doesn’t arrive until April 7.

DaveMinion · 26/03/2020 13:04

Mine is on the 8th too. Quite a few of us lol. Not a milestone for me though at 43 booo.

Probably a takeaway and Netflix for us lol.

catgotyourtongue · 26/03/2020 13:09

DS will be 2 in a few weeks - we had plans to go to the zoo but now it will just be us 5 at home. I'll make a cake and I've already got his presents. Fortunately he isn't going to understand anyway.

Mine in the week after his but I'm not too bothered about that!

lubeybooby · 26/03/2020 13:11

my 40th mid June and I'm expecting there to still be fairly heavy restrictions if not full lockdown still. Cancelled my (huge) party and other plans.

I will wear my outfit and doll up and have a drink in every room of the house and make a silly video of it for all who would have been attending and hoping to still be able to get a (smaller) cake from a lovely independent cake maker

isthismylifenow · 26/03/2020 13:13

Me. I had to cancel my 50th birthday party. As we couldn't even eat out to celebrate, we got a take away pizza instead.

The plan is to reschedule and have a rebirthday.

Aragog · 26/03/2020 13:14

It's DD's 18th birthday next weekend. Party and get togethers are cancelled. Luckily her birthday present from us has arrived. Family and friends were getting her activities and experiences mainly but they are now a no go for a while too. First legal pint from our local pub is delayed too.

We will celebrate and do lots of virtual get togethers though.

helpasisterout · 26/03/2020 13:22

My OH will be 30 mid April. He works so hard and never asks for anything but he did say he would like a meal at a certain restraunt for his birthday unfortunately that means he will now get a voucher for said place instead but will be nice to hopefully see him at home on his birthday instead of the usual too busy working (he is a key worker so hasn't stopped)

One2Three4Five6 · 26/03/2020 15:22

My DD is beginning of April, fortunately I was super organised this year and I have all her presents, but we have had to cancel her soft play party, we are going to have a little tea party at home instead and a cinema day with her choice of movie all day.

Topbird29 · 26/03/2020 15:52

DS will he 8 on Sunday. Will make a cake and have presents (bought way in advance), and amazon have delivered from some close relatives. Bought cards last week when anticipated a lock down, and if rum our if birthday wrap paper then have lots of xmas paper (thanks jan sales). Will skype grand parents. Have also arranged through our road whats app group that some neighbours will sing happy birthday in the morning. That was inspired by a fb post about a little girl that had this. Hopefully some will join in. Hopefully he will still have a nice birthday. Then none until June so hoping things will be slightly more normal by then.
