This has got to be one of the best TV programmes I have ever seen. How on earth did I miss it the first time round? if you want to watch the most gorgeous light-hearted gentle comedy, go on the BBC iPlayer where you will find all 3 Series Smile Sheila's lemonade! Grin

I have a DMDC T-shirt. Smile

EmmaC78 · 22/03/2020 23:21

Another recommendation for This Country Smile

I tried the Detectorists but wasn't keen but might give it another go.

SunshineDays2019 · 22/03/2020 23:25

I couldn't get into this country. Perhaps I should give it another go. A DMDC tee shirt, I'm jealous! Smile

The theme tune of "The Detectorists" is by Johnny Flynn, who is Mr. Knightley in the recent film of "Emma".

SunshineDays2019 · 22/03/2020 23:39

And Jerome's brother!

I BLOODY LOVE THIS

Started watching it last week after I saw it recommended on another thread. I can't cope with the heavier stuff I usually watch. Homeland etc.

Detectorists has been the perfect antidote. So sweet, kind, light hearted and funny

Andromeida59 · 23/03/2020 02:29

Love this! Just perfect and gentle. It is on my list of things to rewatch.

BoreOfWhabylon · 23/03/2020 03:08

It's absolutely glorious. Mackenzie Crook is a genius.

uncomfortablydumb53 · 23/03/2020 03:53

Does anyone know where it's available to watch?
I'd love to watch it

BoreOfWhabylon · 23/03/2020 07:14

The whole 3 series is on BBC iplayer

Scruffyoak · 23/03/2020 07:23

Filmed near me!

Slugslasher · 23/03/2020 07:24

Having been overseas for years we have just discovered ‘Last Tango in Halifax’ recently. We binge-watched all five years worth over the dark nights. Superb telly!

Slugslasher · 23/03/2020 07:25

Also ‘The Detectorists’ which is gorgeous too!

YessicaHaircut · 23/03/2020 07:26

We absolutely loved it too. Gentle and funny and just very British. Love all the beautiful shots of the countryside and the theme tune too!

Clawdy · 23/03/2020 07:40

It's probably the only series where I love every character in it. Wonderful.

BikeRunSki · 23/03/2020 07:43

More than2 years on I am still mourning the end of The Detectorists. It is simply perfect TV. I have the theme tune as my ringtone!!

I’m rewatching them now, they are very soothing in this strange and unsettling time.

I couldn’t get into Ghosts or This Country, but I’d recommend Worzel Gummidge (also written by and staring McKenzie Crook) and Afterlife (although not if someone close to you is ill or has rectify passed; I did hesitate to mention this show, but it is a similar low beat, soothing vibe to Detectorists).

grafittiartist · 23/03/2020 07:46

You know that there was a Christmas special too?

megletthesecond · 23/03/2020 07:47

It's so good. Even my teen likes it.

Thanks so much for this thread op! I absolutely love this series and I’d forgotten about it, I’m going to rewatch it.

I binged What we do in the shadows last night-woke up with the theme tune still running in my head. You're dead, stay dead, you're out of this world...
