Currently in isolation 14 days with poorly DS. Going crazy on day 2. Let me know your favourite soothing classical music.

Can't cope with chart music, MTV, old pop, or anything with words at the moment.

I've got amazon music and am currently listening to a soothing collection called music for a relaxing bath 🤷🏻‍♀️

They are lovely but I need a playlist. Lark ascending is there, cavalliera rusticana and similar.

Any more?

Haydn symphonies are underrated IMO. Try the Horn Signal (No. 31) or

Also Palestrina Missa Papae Marcelli.
Monteverdi Vespers.

And there's always Bach. You could start with the Brandenburg Concertos.

Not strictly classical but very soothing and calming...Rick Wakeman's instrumental piano covers of many well known songs and pieces of music. Loving all the suggestions here and thanks to the person who posted about #SongsofComfort on Twitter.

Another vote for Scala radio station if you have DAB. Just been listening to Simon Mayo broadcasting from his spare room due to self-isolating. Very ambient.

JudyCoolibar · 18/03/2020 13:53

Schubert symphonies, especially the 8th and 9th.

Haydn's Creation - you need to listen to it a few times to appreciate it fully.

There was a Guardian article about this recently. Not classical, but some good suggestions I think. Might make a nice change from R3 or Classic, which is what we're tuned into mostly.

AngeloMysterioso · 18/03/2020 15:07

I also came to suggest Symphony no. 6 Grin

Here’s my playlist OP-

There's a programme on Radio 3 every night at 7 -7.30 'In Tune Mixtape' which has a wide variety of music and sometimes a theme, uninterrupted. If you go on BBC Sounds and go to the Radio 3 schedule there are loads of previous programmes to download / stream.

Oh, I do love Johnny oh, I do love Johnny flyn's singing. He's gorgeous.

Can't imagine how someone managed to get deleted on a thread about classical music. A first!

Excuse weird repetition. Couldn't see what I was typing. Adagio playing now, kids asleep. All well and I'm sure it was just a vomiting bug
