The news is dire, people around me are panicking, I'm on a zero hour supply teaching contract and schools may be closing

I'm finding solace in champagne and The Thick Of It on Netflix.

Large gin in hand, bottle of rose chilling, perfect Friday night...

LittleSwede · 13/03/2020 19:20

Iusedtobeapartygirl, thanks, I'm prone to dry coughs and laryngitis so I'm sure it's just that. Nevertheless I have to follow gov guidelines so self isolating.

Fortyquinn · 13/03/2020 19:23

@ChardonnaysPetDragon you’d very welcome !

Neilsfavouritechilli · 13/03/2020 19:27

This thread has restored my spirits. I'm genuinely sorry for those who have worries about income and family (I have family concerns but know they're doing what they can to keep safe). But a bit of light tiddly relief on a Friday night will help me keep my shit together so bring it!!!

Iusedtobeapartygirl · 13/03/2020 19:27

Hello NeilsFavouriteChilli

I know, it must be seriously awful to be facing no income and all the uncertainty.

I'm lucky that my DH will support me, plus we have no mortgage, so my only hardship will be not enough money for manicures

But it's the not knowing and tgd worry about my elderly parents.

Just gotta find something decent to watch and get rid of the DD’s to bed 😂 already got rid of DP for the night 😁

FurrySlipperBoots · 13/03/2020 19:32

I started my birthday chocolates earlier. If I'm going to die I don't want it to be without having eaten them thanks! Enjoy the champers.

LuckyLuckyWoman · 13/03/2020 19:33

I just having a gnt. Might rub some on my wrists and behind my ears just in case #alcohol

foodtoorder · 13/03/2020 19:34

Margaritas and homemade nachos...it's still Friday after all!

Biscuitburglar · 13/03/2020 19:35

I’ve got a lovely glass of Rustenberg John X Merriman red on the go here and Champagne in the fridge for tomorrow. I think we should have a Friday night wine club 🍷 if you need to stock up, Waitrose have got a buy 6 Save 25% off promotion at the moment.

iamclaireandfleabag · 13/03/2020 19:35

Vino collapsio in solidarity with my Italian friends. It's the right think to do. And The Thick of It is perfect right now. Malcolm Tucker would have this shit sorted out!

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 13/03/2020 19:35

I'm not touching the gin.

I'm saving it for hand sanitiser. If you smell gin on the Tube and you see a harassed looking woman rubbing her hands come say hello.

bluebellation · 13/03/2020 19:37

Excellent plan OP, well done. Friday is always fizz night here, but we drank it with particular fervour tonight. If I didn't have an early morning yoga class tomorrow I'd crack open another bottle but I shall cease and desist now. The rest of you can carry on for me Grin

Iusedtobeapartygirl · 13/03/2020 19:38

Malcolm Tucker would definitely sort this out!

ChardonnaysPetDragon Nooo gin is far too good for that and should only be for drinking!!
Gets some cheap vodka for hand sanitiser 😂

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 13/03/2020 19:39

I get horrible hangovers from gin. It's the gin, not how much I drink of it, of course.

Ironmanrocks · 13/03/2020 19:40

I have just opened a very lovely bottle of Chapel Down, Bacchus - and I drank my first glass with dinner - of fish fingers mash and beans!! Ultimate comfort - I now feel great!! Grin

When they say it’s the elderly and immunosuppressed that might will be affected the most that’s me !
I just want it all over !
